Erwin
That is still an eye-opened for me. Never knew that till now...
womble
Nobody did, Erwin. Or at least nobody that's shared it. That's Bulletpoint's discovery. It's a good mechanic though. If you assume that the lack of FF casualties when friendly bullets hit spotted infantry is to abstractly represent the firing unit being more careful with their shots, it makes all kinds of sense for that not to happen if the shooters don't know (because they can't see the friendlies) that they should be being more restrained/careful.
Vanir Ausf B
Oddly, this game mechanic works as described in Normandy and Red Thunder but not at all in Final Blitzkrieg.

Eh? I'm confused. Are you saying that in FB friendly fire never happens at all, or that it happens all the time. Michael
Vanir Ausf B
I'm saying it doesn't happen under the circumstances described in the original post, which would suggest it doesn't happen at all with small arms caliber ammunition.
womble
That's interesting. I'd hope that it's an unintentional change, because the "original" way round has distinct advantages, to my eye. Maybe it handicaps the AI more than BFC are comfortable with, but I don't see that.

Maybe it's a coding mishap? Probably worth reporting as a potential bug, just in case it's unintentional. I really like the way it works in CMBN.

Have you tried it in CMFB both on Elite and Iron difficulty? Maybe they moved it to Iron where it arguably belongs? Vanir Ausf B
I only tried it on Iron.
drewshotsfan
A good example of friendly fire. Yes, we all know it is possible with larget calibre weapons on, but I thought you might like to see it still https://youtu.be/3IL5cLDWn-Q Edited February 22, 2022 by drewshotsfan
Warts 'n' all
It does happen quite often in night battles. Even with Target Arcs set you men will sometimes get trigger happy and fire in the direction of what they perceive to be incoming fire.
