Glubokii Boy
Hello...A small question... What are the requirements for an infantry squads to be equiped with smokegrenades ? Why does not every squad have some...This is hardly a specialist weapon...or is it ? Every now and again when i play the game i find myself in a situation where a smokegrenade could come in handy but more often then not my selected squad have none (target smoke not avaliable) !
kohlenklau
If your squad does not have a smoke grenade then I guess you must get 2nd hand smoking!
Glubokii Boy
If you live in Sweden 2nd hand smoking will soon be very hard to come by Our new goverment are about to put forward a new law further restricting smoking in public places...As of now smoking is not allowed Indoors...almost everywhere. This new law will take this a step further...forbidding public smoking even outside at many locations...restaurants, buss-stops, Sporting events....you name it ! A smoke grenade will probaly be easier to come by... Do you have any idea on my original question ?
kohlenklau
Yes, but at work and unable to test my thoughts. Purchase a typical infantry platoon and make note of the name, 1st Bn...etc Then in same scenario adjust that one selector to excellent and etc and sequentially re-purchase different platoons. Then do a check on who has smoke grenades. I think more are there for excellent equipped troops? Per JonS Setting the Quality of the Battalion about to be purchased, which affects the type of equipment held. This must be selected before the unit is purchased, and it’s an easy thing to overlook. Try not to forget about it. http://community.battlefront.com/topic/109190-the-sheriff-of-oosterbeek-%E2%80%93-a-scenario-design-daraar/page-11#entry1444824 typical excellent good average fair poor smoke 'em if you got 'em but not where Repsol lives Edited February 18, 2015 by kohlenklau
Glubokii Boy
Thanks for your answer... This seems a bit strange though i have to say... I thought that a couple of frags and some smoke grenades where pretty standars equipment for almost all fighting units...prioretized or not...
MOS:96B2P
Every now and again when i play the game i find myself in a situation where a smokegrenade could come in handy but more often then not my selected squad have none (target smoke not avaliable) ! In the above you refer to squads so the situation I describe may not be the same. (Also in CMBS I have only played as the US so far with a typical quality setting in the purchase screen) I split my US squads into teams with an assault team split. I then use B Team as a base of fire and use A Team to maneuver. Since A Team is the assault team it gets all, or almost all, the hand grenades including the smoke hand grenades. When I click on B Team the pop smoke option is not available. That is because A Team has the grenades. If you use the Split Team administrative command both teams will have smoke grenades. I might be wrong (I am still learning the details of CMBS) but I thought all US rifle squads started with smoke grenades. The teams within those squads may or may not have them depending on how the fire teams are split off. Just a possible explanation.
Glubokii Boy
I had another look at some of the US scenarios... - August morning - Oppertunity knocks - Objective delta - Gauntlets crossed NONE ! of my american squads had any smoke grenades... It mad no difference if i split of an ASSULT team or not......NO SMOKE GRENADES ?

womble
In the WW2 titles, pretty much every infantry squad has smoke available. I'd've expected it to be more common in BS, not less. If you've split your squad up into teams, you might find that the smoke has stayed in the team with the leader.

MOS:96B2P
I have not DL CMBS version 1.01 yet, so I am still on 1.00. I used smoke grenades in August morning. What version of the CMBS are you using RepsolCBR?

I can't...It's dimmed out and nothing happens when i click it Yes I can. It sounds like it might be a hot key issue. Make sure the same key isn't allocated to more than one action (which happened to me when I added the patch).
cool breeze
There are two kinds of smoke commands, pop smoke, in the special commands tab. which is your infantry and vehicle smoke grenades, and target smoke, which is for shooting smoke shells from a long range weapon like a mortar. the defensive pop smoke smoke grenades can only be used for pop smoke (and automatically by vehicles), and the smoke shells for the guns that work with target smoke, don't work with pop smoke. So make sure your using the special tab pop smoke order not the combat tab target smoke with the infantry squads.
