Artemis258
Hi guys, Just started playing the first mission of the 'blunting the spear' campaign. I was wondering (didn't see manual reference) if those little bridge units on the sides of their half tracks were deployable at all? Had the notion of doing a wide flank with them if they were. If not I'm getting the old 'ammo and health resupply? There must be a boss fight' vibe regarding mines... I hate mines
sburke
No as of yet there are no deployable engineer bridges in CM. Generally it isn't considered to be something that would be accomplished in the timeframe of a typical CM battle.
Artemis258
Figured as much. Oh well, maybe there'll be something for them to blow up. Can the 'blast' command clear anti-tank obstacles like dragons teeth and hedgehogs?
womble
Figured as much. Oh well, maybe there'll be something for them to blow up. Can the 'blast' command clear anti-tank obstacles like dragons teeth and hedgehogs? Nope. Sadly, the magic of demo charges' incredible versatility doesn't extend that far in the time frame of a CM game, either...
Artemis258
so... you use them for making holes in hedge rows or?
YankeeDog
so... you use them for making holes in hedge rows or? Or making holes in wire or walls or buildings. Or finishing off enemy bunkers. They're also somewhat useful as a close-assault weapon against armor, though not as good as a Panzerfaust. But for the record, I'd like to have demos be able to clear paths through tank obstacles as well.

Ulvjager
Would still be nice with pioneer bridges of various lengths in the map editor, since many bridgehead battles revolved around them.
John Kettler
Artemis258, Were they playable, those bridges aren't rated for much. 16 metric tons for the pair. where they'd be really useful would be early war, where the equipment wasn't so heavy. 16 tons will get a Panzer IV/D across. http://www.network54.com/Forum/47207/thread/1379610547/Pioneer+Bridge+on+SPW+251-7 Regards, John Kettler
Combatintman
Unfortunately Engineers are a bit rubbish in game - awesome at blowing holes in stuff and they have a limited mine marking capability. Would be great to get more out of these guys.
z-warfare
My feeling is that Engineers ought to be able to destroy small light bridges within 10-15 minutes. Nothing steel or concrete or stone, but just the little wooden truss ones.
