DShK

This may have been brought up before but

Why no DShK machine guns or GAZ-AA trucks?

I was a big fan of the DShK's in CM1.

They did a very good job against halftracks and armored cars.

Edit

Let me rephrase this.

In the manual under "What's New in Combat Mission : Red Thunder" it says:

"M1985 Nagant revolver,TT-30 pistol, Model 1891 rifle, STV-40 rifle,

PPSh,PPS-42, and PPS-43 submachine guns, the DP, DPM, Maxim 1910,

SG43, and DShK machine guns."

Only I do not find a description of the DHsK at the end of the manual describing Soviet Heavy Weapons (only the M1910 and the SG43) and I cannot find one on the Soviet TOE in a Quick Battle either as a Specialist Team or attached to an infantry unit.

Has anybody used one?

This question came up a couple of months ago, and the answer provided was that it was accidentally left out of the final compiling of the code, an oversight that will be corrected in the upcoming patch.

:)

Michael

Are you talking about the Dshk or both?

Because this is the first I've heard of the GAZ AA trucks being left out "by mistake"...

Elementary, my dear Oddball.

Note for future reference: If I had meant both I would have used 'they' and not 'it'. I realize such linguistic precision is not common practice on this board, but I do try to raise the level wherever I can.

;)

Michael

OK, you asked for it ;)

You are correct in that it is obvious you cannot be talking about both. However 'it' is ambiguous as to which object you refer by 'it'. The last noun group was the AA truck, so you might have been meaning that.

Pedants rule!

Sailor Malan2,

Full marks for using "fora" rather than the more common (am guilty and ought to do things correctly) "forums." Study Latin? Just today a housemate brought me a quote I'd not seen before: Nemo me inpune lacessit. You might like it. There are quite a few Latin translation sites which can sort it out for you. Had to use one myself. Latin taken in high school, even four years of it, doesn't hold up well when unused for decades.

Oddball_E8,

Here's an acoustic benchmark--in the form of a superb quality Hi-Def clip with the beast on close-in display.

Quite distinct when compared to the classic Browning M2 HMG.

I'm subscribed to forgotten weapons, so I've seen that one :)

But I still want to test my sound in-game (since my sound mod isn't supposed to be an extremely accurate representation of how the guns sound in real life, but more to have distinct sounds for all weapons that still sound realistic and fit together)
