Oddball_E8
Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't these mostly used away from the frontlines hauling artillery and the likes? I don't' recall them ever being used actively as troop transport in a frontline situation.
Kieme(ITA)
I don't' recall them ever being used actively as troop transport in a frontline situation. Neither did this: But it's in game, and for a reason.
Oddball_E8
Neither did this: But it's in game, and for a reason. I do believe those came closer to the front than the Sdkfz 6 tho... troop transports being what they are and all...
bram1979
I would love to see a kettenkrafdrad and a swimwagen
Fizou
I also want the sdkfz 6 in the game. The sdkfz 6/2 is already in so most of the model is done.
Baneman
Good luck with that, buddy, I've been wondering why the 7 isn't in for ages.
Fizou
My guess is it will be in a pack, sooner rather than later.

Fizou
So can 3 of these tow a bogged Tiger back to the repair depot?... In the game they wont. Stuff like that is outside the CM scope.
JasonC
Even more common than the 6 specifically was the Sdkfz 4, a converted 3 ton truck, with 22500 of them built. Smaller than the 6 pictured, but visually similar. Here is a fuller run-down of the common unarmored half track prime movers the Germans used - Sdkfz 9 - 18 ton, only 2000 built, rear areas exclusively. Hauled tank trailers, cranes, repositioned heavy Flak. Sdkfz 7 - 8 ton, 12000 built, the only one many popular sources seem to know about. Common enough but focused on as impressively large. Sdkfz 6 - 5 ton, 3500 built, as pictured above. Sdkfz 11 - 3 ton, unarmored version of the SPW-251 chassis, 9000 built. Sdkfz 4 - 3 ton converted civilian model trucks, 22500 built, the most common unarmored halftrack. Sdkfz 10 - 1 ton, unarmored version of the SPW-250 chassis, 17500 built. As can be seen from the numbers above, the Germans used all truck sizes as halftracks, and the lighter models were more common than the heavier ones. There are 4 times as many 1 ton and 3 ton versions running around (the size of pick-ups or US "Deuce and a halfs", respectively) as there are heavy Flak gun prime movers. They are towing the div arty of mobile divisions, PAK in the panzerjaeger battalions (that get converted to "fast" alarm units to give leg infantry something to react with etc). Then there are 2 other exotic items - the Sdkfz 2, one front wheel and halftracked rear drives, the "motorcyle" version of a halftrack, used as communication wire layers and general front line "mules" of all work, 8350 built, and the RSO, a fully tracked 3 ton prime mover with a slow 18 mph top speed, basically a glorified tractor, but considerbly better at handling the mud ruts that passed as "roads" on half of Russia, a third of the year, than a more famous GM "Blitz" truck. 27000 of the little things... I don't think we need them all, but the 7, 4, and 10 would be a useful mix. They are the most common, accounting for 52000 vehicles between them, and would give the Germans a realistic range of off road capability prime movers. FWIW.
Oddball_E8
The main reason why they aren't in the game is that they are not needed. The trucks in the game already fulfill all the duties of the sdkfz halftracks and putting an effort into making these would take time and effort from other things. That's just the way it is.

And thats why they added the Protze? Im sure the sdkfz 6 - 7 will be included sooner or later.. its a very iconic vehicle and at one time or another BF will have time to include it as they work their way through the German list of vehicles.

Michael Emrys
If that was the case, it would never have been modeled for CMx1. I think you are not taking into account BFC's superabundance of enthusiasm for their subject in those days. It is much more measured now.
