tankgeezer
The Primosole Bridge looks like an interesting addition to the Map Editor. I think I'll use it in my next map. However; could anybody tell me, right off hand, if there are any load restrictions on this box girder?
Maarten
Do you mean load-restrictions as in weight-restrictions? I.e. no driving lots of Elefants across. I am not aware of there being any restrictions of that nature on any of the bridges. Or as in loading the map?
Michael Emrys
Do you mean load-restrictions as in weight-restrictions? I'm pretty sure that's what he meant since that is what the phrase usually means when applied to bridges. Michael
MikeyD
I've driven Shermans and PzIVs across the bridge. I can't say I've attempted to run a Tiger I over it. Its question like this that make 'test maps' so fun to play with. CM bridges do have load restrictions but it usually involves a very big cat trying to cross a very small bridge.
John Kettler
MikeyD, Typically, large permanent bridges are prominently marked with load classification signs, as are military vehicles. Unless the signage has been deliberately removed, it should be patently obvious what a CM bridge can or can't carry, presuming the bridge isn't damaged. Michael Emrys
Unless the signage has been deliberately removed... ...Or was never there. Let's not forget that we are talking about artwork in a game. 'Twould be lovely to have such niceties. Perhaps in some future iteration of the game. That's pretty cool. Hadn't expected that though maybe I should've.

IIRC the load restrictions only affect gameplay by not letting you drive vehicles that are too heavy over the bridge. I remember that i once had a Tiger I and there was a small stone bridge ahead of it. The bridge definately was wide enough for the Tiger to pass across it, but the game just wouldnt let me give the order. I had to use a nearby ford.

Would've been more fun if halfway across the bridge had collapsed. Michael
c3k
A safety margin if 10:1 is not unheard of in civil engineering. Any permanent bridge should not fail with a single vehicle crossing. Harmonics, point loads, etc., coupled with battle damage, may present some over stresses. Modelled? I don't know.
tankgeezer
Okay; finally got around to that test map. The bottom line is; simply put, nothing heavier than a Panther.
