First Encounter with AA HT

Devils to Isernia scenario, which is a great battle btw.

My Stummel exposed it's flank to the AAHT (wasn't MY fault). The rate of fire is very fast, light armored vehicles don't stand much chance.

Good news: It was rather easy to convince the AAHT crew to dismount their vehicle . There isn't much protection.

First shot hits the Stummel

Multiple shots (.5 seconds later) destroy it

I recall the first time I saw a light quad AA vehicle in CM was all the way back in CMSF NATO module (Syrian Shilka). My first thought was "mere target vehicle for me to shoot up, no problem." Then it scoured the optics entirely off my tank and ripped up one of my fancy APCs. Oh... :eek:

The first time I encountered a multiple light AA vehicle (a Lend-Lease M16 to be precise) was in "The Hornet's Nest" in CMBB. I don't recall that they got to fire.

Spent one night setting up a flak battery in GL (Map 121) and trying to take them out with British infantry and light armor teams at 40% bonus. Couldn't do it, but was fun.

There's one in the Daraya MOUT footage (Incredible Footage) over on CMSF. The Russians stripped the expensive and exposed GUNDISH radars off some of their Shilkas (zero air attack threat from Muj) and used these AFVs for convoy escort and similar, since they didn't suffer the elevation restrictions most of their AFV weapons had. "I see your RPK and raise you...!"

Yeah the rate of fire is amazing - most fun I have had watching my guys get pummeled. I setup a battle between some Canadian Shermans and recon forces vs quad 20mm AAA guns. The bren carriers were toast very fast if they got under the guns of those AAA cannons. The Shermans were OK but just about every sub system that sticks out of the tank gets cleaned right off in very short order. One had a partial penetration on a side hit and another crew went from OK to Rattled.

@ridethe415 is right if you get any kind of fire on the AAA guns the crew falters pretty quick. With all the bren carriers and Shermans to shot at I manged to get a few sections close enough to one to open up with their small arms even short engagements at closeish range ended badly for whomever fired second.
