  1. Yes I see that JM, that is a great loss. You still have the HD, so could its contents be rescued by a 'professional'? Having said that, I tried with a local 'professional' and ended up doing a better job myself with a 5 Euro cable from Amazon*. * Other sellers are available...
  2. I think their legs are in the stowage compartments? I pity the poor chap sitting up front. Rider casualties are interesting though, I've just been playing one of Mr X's upcoming RT campaigns and took an approaching T34/85 with a full deck of riders on board under fire with small arms, MGs and eventually 75mm Panzer IV shells. The riders took no casualties and seemed not to have a care until the 75mm rounds came in.
  3. That was exactly my experience, and for a while I managed 'conversation' and retrieval of useful things. But then darkness descended, so to speak. For what it's worth, setting up all of the CM WW2 titles again was relatively easy if that is the concern, although John (Elvis at BFC) did help me from his golf course on a Friday night .
  4. Happy to see that's not the Churchill in the previous post.
  5. Clear my diary for next weekend. Oh wait, it's already clear .
  6. I think there are a few who prefer to go direct, with the thinking being that BFC get all / more of the money that way. But I know what you mean, and I've just grabbed Steam keys and Steam copies of all of my CM stuff (except FB as it's not on there yet, despite me trying to get it, DOH). And yes, the bit about needing F&R should have been included on Steam.
  7. Now worries JM, I appreciate you being here. That's a shame, we are losing something. A bit like Phil who is taking a break, but his reasons are different. I laugh at your description, not your predicament. I also experienced a similar thing last year when some stray liquid (coughs and ) may have somehow found its way inside my laptop. I'll blame the cat, but that's a little unfair. Cutting to the sad end of the story, I had a hard disk which only occasionally let me look inside it's wonderful contents and copy some out. And then it decided enough was enough. But life goes on...
  8. Of course. Personally I think I'm more at ease playing games based 60 years ago (on whatever side).
  9. I just thought I'd add for the record that Slitherine got back to me with the answer the very next day. Not bad, not bad.
  10. Me too JM. Good to hear from you my friend. So it seems that picture is totally 'advertising blurb'... would love to know who produced it though .
  11. From the BFC store: https://www.battlefront.com/red-thunder/cmrt-battle-pack-1/ See the pink bit near the top, under the title 'Overview'. In short, yes it needs F&R. EDIT you beat me to a reply . F&R is worth the extra.
  12. I'm playing CMFB 'Hot Time in Hatten' as a PBEM. It is hot, my opponent has flamethrower Hetzers. I don't like them. Two down so far, at least two more to go. Doing okay against the deluge of Panzer IVs though and not so bad against several Panthers and some Jagdpanzer IV/70s. And some Stummels. Jeezy Louisy, it's a big battle...
  13. I don't really know GMT, but I think I prefer BFC's stance on this. Disclaimer - I only play WW2 BFC games anyway.
  14. We might be tarred and feathered for it, but that's where I'm at so far.
  15. Cool, and like that I didn't have to watch the whole video - good job . No disrespect to the 'Tea time' comms, as I think they're a good thing. So 50% off - if I didn't already have all of the WW2 stuff, my credit card would be sizzling. It has tempted me towards modern, but I don't think I have the time or the knowledge. Hmmm!
  16. You may be right Ian, I noticed the positions as well (i.e not sat down on the engine covers). I had also wondered whether someone didn't actually know Red Thunder was WW2, but I may be going too far there. EDIT: I hope your Canadian cat is still with us? I have a British cat who looks very similar and he's fast asleep next to me after a night out last night at -5C.
  17. Well in current or just finished PBEMs I'm playing Hot Time in Hatten as US, Monster Mash as Soviets and admittedly Boy's against men as Germans. So I'm not really that bothered. I'm not the 'Nazi in the village' if you read that somewhere else on this forum .
  18. Although looking again, the Copyright 2023 Battlefront caption suggests it may have come from BFC?
  19. Just for clarity, the 'digital camo' only appears on the Slitherine / Steam advertising pages and the pre-load 'Play' page on Steam as far as I can see. So it no doubt came from Slitherine (how, by using a mod or fiddling with the picture? I don't know) and transferred across to Steam. having said that I haven't tested the actual Steam version of the game much yet, as I'm happy using the BFC one in which I have all of the after-market mods, user made battles and campaigns. I'll replicate them in the Steam file structure at some point.
  20. Okay . I don't know about 10 years ago, was that CM1? I've only ever played CM2, so... I'm not sure about point 1 - I've never seen that. And point 2 - if you're playing on say 'Iron' and you've selected a unit, others that they don't have any sort of contact with will disappear. But if you de-select the unit by for example clicking on open terrrain, all units will reappear. Nothing disappears. At least that's my experience.
  21. Yep, that's what caught me out. Anyway, not a biggie as I'm not playing the games on Steam yet anyway. EDIT: Slitherine also have Downfall on that list...
  22. Thanks, you beat me to my edit when I realised the same. Oh well, you live and learn... John, you can stand down my friend.
