Tank platoon moving to battle stations

    T-90A trying to spot enemies

    Fire!

Close to the end of the battle, one of mine T-90 finally spots (trough smoke) and eliminate that pesky Bulat that was ruining my day

Then i was able to close on objectives and win the battle, despite losing 2 tanks 1 apc and some troops

Setting Platoon Defence position. While setting up your defence try to consider few things.
First of all if you have armored vehicles and tanks look for several positions for each unit. For example you have a tank and you found 1 awesome poistion - look for 2 other places where you could put it later on. It is important because if you will use same spot all the time sooner or later your enemy will take out your tank. The logic is simply - you make few shots from your tank - you kill some enemy - then you switch your position wait for few minutes then switch again and so on and so on. While setting up your defence keep your AT rocket systems a little away from your main trench. Why? Because those systems are putting enemy under terror - and he will likely try to use some artillery in order to take your AT/sniper/whatever out. By the way taking down AT systems by using arty is awesome move. So when you got an idea and a plan for your tank - think about your APC - your apc in ideal conditions should be hull down. It is also important to have secondary position prepared but dont move your light armor as much as you move your tank. While planing trench - always keep in mind that you will need around 10 pices of trench for a platoon. Yet the most important part here is to use terrain. You need to look for some forest and some hills so that your infantry will be able to rotate from place to place safely. Trees are also good for stopping anti personell shells - they are reducing damage. Keep your APC clos to your trench line so that your infantry can hide there while being under arty fire. Plan your trenchline so that your infantry can engage different sectors from different angles. Do not put all your infantry forces in the same place. Think about cover and consealment logic. If you will do everything right you will be able to destroy an entire company with a well digged platoon.

Sometimes it is important to give instead of taking. Always look on your map for a fire control spots. What does it mean? If you know that your enemy got more firepower than you, if you need to protect a lot and if you have no points to spare - use fire control over actual placement of your units. If you have a highgrount what you need to defent - split your battle plan in two halfs. Place your platoon lower than your objective if possible. Make sure that your forces can see it clearly, make sure that your forces can cover certain areas with fire. Then set up your line of defence. It will be your starting point. Wait until your enemy will enter that area. When main forces of your enemy will be wiped out - wait for 5-10 minutes untill his infantry reserves will showthemselves - engage them and prepare to move on. At certain point your enemy will stop moving forward - your task is to destroy your enemy's armor. After you did that most of his units will be broken or shaken or panic - easily retake the spot.
Note - you will have different situations and conditions but the logic is always the same - if you cant protect something directly - maintain fire control over area - if you dont get what you  want nobody will and if they will try you will destroy them. In this particular case I had 1 mechanized platoon (3 BMP's + 3 infantry squads) and 1 HQ bmp + HQ itself standing against a company on a certain place on map. Enemy had no chance at all. his units were moving main road (so all my units were engaging them same time) and the spot he was trying to take was on the hill - which is super nice because units what are going up are not able to see what stays below them. Even if my enemy would use proper recconacense he would not be able to take that hill without using artillery or some high tech tanks - because his units would be always reciving fire before they will get a chance to shoot back.

Using RPG teams within streets is very simple. Yet, keeping them alive is very hard. What you need to do is to try to avoid direct placement into buildings. Always remember that there are more than one vechicle on the map. In order to wipe out 3-6 russian BMP's by few squads of infantry you should always track your enemy. Place your rpg teams close to buildings but try not to put them inside of those buildings. When your enemy moves in your units will shoot them down in the back or in side armor. If you will put them inside of those buildings - you might destroy one or two vehicles but then other enemy units will open fire on your rpg team and that will be an end. From the other hand if you will be constantly movinf from street to street letting your enemy pass by you - you will be destroying way more armor. This tactics is good when you have small forces and dont have any hard weapons on you. Simply put some elements of your squad equipped by RPG's close to some buildings - wait until enemy moves in - and thats it. Obviusly - smart player will not enter that town with armored vehicles themselves. Yet as a little hint that might work on his rotations, places where he feels safe, places he think he got control over. Small forces can be effective even against strong enemy. Strong enemy might make bigger mistakes gentlemen - use those for your advantage.

CMBS: Ukrainian BRM-1K Armored Reconnaissance Vehicle By Oleksandr

BRM-1k was developed for reconnaissance operations in interest and in favor of ground forces. If you have a commander in this vehicle you will be able to request arty support. But the main task for this thing is spotting your enemy for further adjustments of your actions.

I've done two Comic AARs, and always dreaded the idea of work involved in doing a classic one. Until I discovered just how much work the CAARs were. Combined with all the AARs I've read here already trying to improve my tactical knowledge and skills, made me really want to give this standard format AAR a try.

The battle is a 45 minute duration attack by me on a German opponent in PBEM. My partner doesn't participate in the BF forums so this AAR will not be mirrored from the German perspective.

I am a graphics dilettante compared to Bil Hardenberger. I recommend you read his AARs, and visit his blog. His AARs were to me highly educational as well as inspirational. The concepts of planning, reconnaissance, and how to present it to readers in graphic format are all things I've learned from reading them. By no means can I approach his tactical or graphical skill but I hope you will still find this enjoyable to read and contribute to the thread.

Gentlemen as you asked before – I did an alternative BMP-2 skin for Ukrainian side.

This mod includes BMP-2/BMP-2k what are painted in UKROBORONPROM camo and covered with dirt. Moreover, in some areas you will find smoke and dust marks close to exhaust and radiators.

You will also find some leaves on the hull because this BMP’s were used in tree lines for ambushes and you will find some solid amount of dirt related to steppe (all kinds of dust, dirt, mud and so on).

Note: to make this mod work for 100% – you should delete previous BMP mod of mine (in case if you used it before).

Gentlemen I've decided to invest some of my time to work on some modifications to this wonderful game. I've decided to modd all blue nations what are represented in this game. Furthermore, I'm planing to mod on weapons, armor, maps and scenarios. My very first mod is a modification of Ukrainian standard uniform, gear and skins. I was inspired by one rare( so far ) camo pattern created in Ukraine few years ago - Varan pattern. So far its was used by VDV forces, Marines, and ukrainian soldiers of Lithuanian–Polish–Ukrainian Brigade what has its HQ in Lublin/Poland. So this camo pattern is interesting because it was made specifically for Ukrainian terrain. Afterwords I was thinking about uniform itself. I was insipired by Ukrainian made uniform called "Mabuta Mk 2" from P1G-tac. Obviously it is not complete copy of it but I took my insparation from that uniform. Why? Because in 2014 Ukrainian hero (fallen hero unfortunatly) - colonel of Ukrainian special forces (reconnaissance) Vyacheslav Galva was wearing that uniform. Moreover, years earlier he was helping to develop and then test that uniform. Now this uniform is being used by Ukrainian Special Operaions forces, Marines, and some VDV units. Overall it is a great uniform made for long term combat action and produced in variety of camos including Varan camo pattern.
For this specific mod I reworked (and added 6 more) all those standard face skins, all the gear was retextured, I reworked backpacks and radios. By the way I took my radio insparation from Harris Radio Stations what were sent to Ukraine by the government of the United States in the very begining of the conflict as military support. Those stations are still in service and 3 years since war took place Ukraine is already producing its own stations. In further mods I will make more touches on details like this in order to give you some background related to my choice. Furthermore I've reworked helmets and footwear. If you will take a close look on those boots within the game you will see that it is not an import of american boots, but reworked and retextured model with uniqe and perfectly new features. I've also added some gloves, and other little touches to this uniform. While making this mod it was hoped that players will use this new "standard" camo for special forces and well experienced squads in their quick battles. Why? Because I'm planing to rework Digital uniform. Im planing to make Digital uniform as mass uniform and this one as a special forces/high experienced units uniform.
     General look on this uniform:

A simple add on. Adds a name stenciled in low visibility on the left top hull of each vehicle. There are a a total of 12 names of more or less famous american explorers.
This is a stretched attempt, so consider it a full kind of a fictional addition, I had the files ready and decided to upload them.

    This is just an option.
This mod adds some ERA blocks of a different color (desert yellow). These blocks will be shown on each Bradley in a random fashion, thus making each vehicle different.
The texture for desert blocks has been imported from the old CMSF.

Kieme CMBS USA Abrams - tank names add-on

Ok, this might not be for everyone taste, so it's just an add on. If you want your tanks to display a nickname on the gun barrels (noticed this was the case in CMSF too) you just need to download this and put it in your mods folder.
I also noticed that US M1A2 SEPs in recent europe training had these nicknames stenciled on the gun barrel. I managed to find a nice font, very similar to the original one. The names are in White but not too large or bright.
Anyway, grab it if you like it, otherwise you can keep your M1s with no charisma at all.

-tank nickname added on the gun barrel right side (39 different names)

The names vary from WW2 tributes, to obvious ones, to "cool" or actual ones, got a dirty one there, too.
Hope I didn't make any mistake.
The large file size is due to the number of textures... these should be enough to ensure a certain variety, although you might still get doubles (or blanks).
