  1. good post. and very good question.

I've gone off the vehicle skins, altho amazing and so cool...i found my self put off having some vehicles modded and some not with the complicated structure of CMFI.

part in being the modders stopped etc, which is understandable etc, we all have our own lives to live...but in reflection i am happy with the default stuff, can see emblems and icons alot easier etc...

so, back to the question what is ESSENTIAL...

    1. would be the interface mods showing the wonderful graphics of the weapons etc..really adds to the game big time.

    2. HQS ! sound is half of any form of entertainment maybe more, so why skimp on it..

    3. uniform mods, Ez...the best.

    4. effects mod, smoke, tracers, etc..flames to.

and with some subdued terrain mods and a few other small ones that is pretty much all im running with.

I've always really enjoyed strategy games whether its modern or world war 2. I'd like the extra challenge of a combat mission game but I don't know which one to go for. Which one will be the best for a beginner to learn and enjoy.

what war theatre or time period do you enjoy the most? is pretty much the only question to answer really...always find these sort of questions silly....but hey ho...

What's wrong with the war we've already got ... in terms of scenarios, campaigns and stuff - this is being reported in enough detail for any budding scenario maker to make a whole bunch of stuff or contemplate what-ifs and alternate scenarios with CMBS.  If Battlefront makes Korea or whatever - you're only going to see it through a less detailed prism than what you're getting now - all those iterations of Barkmann's corner or Wittman knocking over 7 Armd Bde in WW2 are all interpretations by a scenario designer of information with far less granularity than what's available now.  If you're truly interested in warfare, wargaming and/or simulating warfare then hoover up what you're seeing now, buy CMBS and hook into it.  It has been interesting to note from recent events that maybe 'T-72 spotting is nerfed' and 'Troops running from hard cover is unrealistic' have been proved to be fallacies due to the coverage that is emerging from the tragic events in Ukraine.

nothing wrong at all, im happy with the status quo, just adding my 2cents.

  4. bit of a silly topic really, altho interesting discussion.. there's always other area's / theatres, etc via ww2, could do Korea, or vietnam. Korea rarely see's games within its theatre, so that would be more interesting to me than vietnam..

but they could also venture to more unconventional stuff like sci fi or something...

thing that is certain is I wouldn't count them as finished by any means.

  5. i'd just can't get past the new building textures etc, with flags and stuff...just wow.... are these planned to be released to the community as a individual mod etc or? been following this for awhile and don't know much but big respect to your effort. just wow...

Get paint.net and I can share with you (if you want) my old paint.net files that have some ideas ON SEPARATE LAYERS you can judge if worthy for you.

    paint.net = paint dot net = pdn

What I do is create a new pdn file and START WITH the desired pixel dimensions from the gitgo. Save as your "makes sense" filename. OPMAP FEB24.pdn. Save in a useful easy to find folder for using again and again as needed.

    Welcome to the club

that would be great. i have a long weekend coming up so will have time to commit to it

  7. ok, wow.... i will have to look up some tutorials on paint.net etc....

one thing about the pictures etc for briefing, they don't describe like, which picture go's where on the briefing screen? and when you do upload and it seems to default to 2 x 2 pixels? i guess thats when it fails?? using the windows default to resize and change file stats to bmp.

and the text briefing, simple enough, just text file...but do you have to copy the format which is show while in the editor?

they could've helped bit more with showing the layouts etc.

  8. Hi all...

Unsure if i asked for this sort of thing but what are folks using in terms of programs to do the briefing templates? was it photoshop or something? is there any free or trial software that folk are using? i got the jist of adding photos etc, and selecting the correct resolution etc and naming them. the brief text is straight forward. its just the details of making the little maps for reference...

    cheers in advance.
