  1. MINUTE 25

On my left wing, after few mortar shots last turn, my men are assaulting the woods.

    NZq87.jpg

The objective is to clean up the left flank of my assault on the main objective.

    k3GXJ.jpg

Speaking of it, my troops are approaching of the objective.

My scout team is still ahead of the attack.

And I am lucky. The little trap, setup here, has not worked since these guys are facing the wrong direction. 🤗

    nGwNm.jpg

My scout team has killed one bad guy but the two others are firing back.

Just the time to throw a grenade before being shot...

Oh no! Brian has been hit! Brian has been hit!

  2. Thanks guys, any comment on my second question?

    2. I am a bit puzzled by the difference of behavior between armor and infantry. Armor will pop a smoke screen then reverse. Infantry will start moving, pop a small smoke screen in front of them and a bigger one behind them. So I found they are a little exposed to enemy fire. Are they acting following a particular TTP unknown to me?

I would greatly appreciate a graphic description of an AI plan posted in a thread like this; what to choose, how it works, what it does.  I know I can crack open an existing scenario and look at one but I just can't seem to wrap my head around what to script for a particular result.  I suspect this is a big ask but thanks for considering it kindly.

Kudos for designing scenario's.  I hope it goes well.  Good luck.

Do you mean something like what I have just post here?

The editor view and then the consequence?

  4. Yes this is working fine. Thank you. I have just two questions:

    1. What Order Type do you recommend during the withdraw between Max Assault, Assault, Advance, Quick and Dash? I think that Advance, Quick and Dash are the three best options. Is the stance important too?

Why using "Print Screen", my CMSF2 screenshots are just awful? 🤔

    Thanks

@cbennett88 :D  I especially like that second photo.  The guy on the away team who was not a main character was going to get whacked.

LOL - I was looking for some advice to use withdraw orders and I found this thread.

I laughed a lot. But, if I'm not mistaken, this episode is "obsession" and the three red guys will be killed by a gas cloud. 😀

  6. All right, I am late. Starting scenario design on CMSF1 and finishing it on CMSF2.

But, the AI trigger is just a brilliant addition. Playing with it right now and it is adding much more possibilities. Thanks! Just thanks!

Next, I begin to understand why people wants:

    • more AI groups - 32 instead of 16 (to allow more flexibility)
    • more Terrain objectives - 30 instead of 15 (to add more triggers)

    Cheers

I don't think it will really come  to integrating armies, but more co-operation between units in a larger multi-national unit. Not ideal, but as I mentioned it works for example with Dutch and German units in one Korps. Same would be possible for example for Finnish and Swedish units, or French and Belgian units. Using the same equipment would also help a lot. And yes, preferably made in Europe.

I totally agree, but I was being snarky that the US would not be amused if the envisioned 2% of GDP weren´t spent at least in part on US arms.

Well see the F35 Lightning program, there are two European programs existing: the Eurofighter Typhoon and the Rafale. Still, majority of EU countries prefer to buy US. It's fashion. 😏

  8. MINUTE 24

On my right wing, the suppression fire continues.

    Q28G4.jpg

    Germans are retreating...

    ln2N8.jpg

In the center, I am rushing toward the central objective. The opposition is null. How is it possible?

    EvnKE.jpg

On the left, I am progressing slowly because I know Germans are hiding there.

    bQnV2.jpg

The shaken troops in the center are still resting. Only one team is able to progress.

    WOYPN.jpg

Good progression this turn. I will secure the central objective and the left flank, next turns, before going forward...

    DY3Ka.jpg

  9. MINUTE 23

My actions are still focused on my left wing but it also starts on my right wing as well.

    VxJO8.jpg

On the right, I have now two machine guns in position to harass a little the Germans in front of them.

    a2dAy.jpg

On the left, my mortar team is doing some indirect fire where the Germans just retreats. I hope to undermine their morale.

    3JDpJ.jpg

My halftrack is still firing from time to time.

    nGJDQ.jpg

On my right wing, the Germans are pinned.

    9JE5q.jpg

Looking at the clock, looks like I will miss some mortar fires except if there is few minutes left after scenario ends.

    eP210.jpg

But, do you know what is the most strange during this turn? I have realized this after replaying the turn once more. In fact, the volume of fire from the Germans is decreasing. I am even wondering if they shoot at anything this turn. So, I have ordered few moves ahead in the center for next turn. Will see...

  10. MINUTE 22

A very confusing turn. On my left wing, the Germans did launch a counter attack that wipe out the few men that were there.

    vEqJ9.jpg

My troops are fleeing ... While the enemy continues to shoot at them ...

    7JEVa.jpg

    AxaNo.jpg

    LZ4YA.jpg

Only two brave men of 1st squad / B team scout team is trying to save the day.

    5JEW2.jpg

Alas, they are panicking. But, they are going toward the enemy !!?? Mmm, it remembers me the strange pathfinding behavior for which I have send you a test scenario @IanL

    1JEQN.jpg

    jaxNN.jpg

Two more casualties... Snif. Strangely enough, the Germans are also retreating.

    m9Y2W.jpg

In fact, the reason is pretty simple. This halftrack was really a good acquisition. 🙂

    KmPgy.jpg

The overall situation did not change. Looks like we are going to a stalemate.

The above is also suggesting that given the pattern of attacks in CM, you're better off running towards the enemy, than away.

That sounds really crazy to run towards the enemy. I prefer to fallback like in this video:

    • At 9:33 in the video, troops are moving back due to the shells
    • At 9:54 in the video, they are coming back
