  1. Hi all. Something about how Soviet based tanks looked in CM:BS was making me uneasy. It took me a while, but I think I finally figured it out. First "issue" is universal to all tanks, and consists of wrong glacis geometry. In real life K-5 era plate sticks out, but there isn't a large "plateu" after it as seen here. That leads me to believe that, either the angle of the slope is too steep, or it is moved too far to the front. The second issue, this one being a T-90A specific (but I decided to include it here anyways), is K-5 era not ending right on the angle, and wiring "cover" piece introduced in all T-90A's post 2005. The reference can be seen in previously attached image.
  2. "Upgraded" T-80's are an overstatement. They are reliability packages to cope with age of the vehicles.
  3. Just a pic from RL , I say we got pretty close.
  4. Oh, it's simple. Present Russian involvement is against international law and destabilizes the region as well as detrimental to short and medium term economics for Ukraine. War in the Donbass region is hurting not just that region, but the whole 35m country that is right next to us. Arguing that despite US support for the changing of UKr government, it was the Russian side that initiated armed confrontation is also golden and really gets people going. To understand both sides, you must be able to argue both sides equally, at least something like that. Regardless of whichever side has more weight in the argument. The rest, is like I said, not going to argue three or more people simultaneously as it is mostly futile and very time consuming. Oh, Wiki mentions that the term "soft power" was coined by Joshep Nye in the 80's, but I'm almost confident my geopolitics professor back in the day mentioned that it was a rephrase of an even older term. Which one though, eludes me.
  5. The wrong side of this forum, that's for sure, but then again, everything these days seems to be divided by a fence. I've tried arguing the Ukrainian side on Russian forums and got the same response . Oh well, as Kurt Vonnegut wrote it best, "and so it goes".
  6. They are 12 megapixel photos of T-15 and K-25, revealing never before seen details, like the GRAU index of APS munitions printed on them for example.
  7. Negatory, it's like arguing the Ukrainian side on Russian forums. In terms of right and wrong, what Russia is doing in Ukraine is hard power because soft power has failed over the course of the last 25 years. I do not view my country's actions to protect it's sphere of influence as wrong. Methods - questionable in their effectiveness. Reasons? Not so much. Like I said almost immediately after joining this forum, to me, and perhaps to a lot of my countrymen, this is a natural repetition of 1653, 1919, 1939 and 1944.
  8. I come to Russian military forums, it's a circle-jerk of bouncing similar opinions on a one side loop. I come to US oriented forums like this one, and it is exactly the same circle-jerk of high an mighty opinionated posting, just the other way around. Such a shame mp.net has died. It felt like the only place where two camps would actually meet and have a discussion.
  9. Into my collection of chauvinistic phrases on the internet this goes. This forum seems to be excellent at generating exactly these types of statements . I sincerely hope this thread survives some more pages though, these types of discussions seem to bring out the best in all of us.
  10. I think automatic driver is just junk translation. What T-14 is intended to have is a chassis OS that tells driver what's happening with "the wheels" as well as assist in translating steering input into actual steering.
  11. 270 T-72B3's in service by 2013, additional 294 tanks in 2014 and I am counting at least 35 in 2015, possibly double that. Overall, that gives us at least 599 T-72B3's in service by now. With 350 T-90A's in active service we have 949 tanks in active service which are not T-72B's or T-80BV's. I think the 2500 service number is also counting storage and training tanks, which is not entirely representative of the combat capabilities. So, again, T-72B might be the most widespread available tank, but it is not the most widespread in service anymore.
  12. T-72B is maybe the most widespread tank available in storage, but I don't think it is the most widespread tank in service. The latter would be T-72B3.
  13. I'd like a broader, more polished Ru equipment module because looking at high-polycount Russian vehicles in CMBS makes me warm inside. 1) T-72B with K-1 Era (good use for coastal defense units), also should be very interesting to see how T-72B vs T-64B fight plays out. 2) KMT-7 mine clearing system with EMT jamming device. This is not a one-off inclusion, as it can be used on all T-64/72 in BS or earlier CM titles. As a cherry,KMT-10 mine clearing system for BMP-1 and 2 could be nice. 3) Proper APS 3D modeled for T-90A, T-90AM and T-72B3. The least intrusive way to deliver that without having to alter original turret model too much, is to include Arena in its latest form: example. 4) Additional armor modeled for BMP-3M like here. This configuration does not impede Shtora or Arena being mounted on the turret. 5) Kamaz-53501 as a supply truck. Nowadays, these are the standard in the better supplied formations.
  14. Inside job nutters are nuts on any side of the fence, discussing either their own countrymen misfortune, or otherwise.
  15. Honestly, I like the new design. I wasn't a fan of that three color scheme, but they've since corrected it.
  16. Logistics and aesthetics. Having one color simplifies maintenance and ensures all vehicles look the same. That's what the military likes, and I think most can agree it looks better. Camuflage was introduced in the Soviet army as the norm post 1984 reform, but since then has not been a terribly sucessful implementation. I like this new look alot - makes military look more maintained.
  17. Don't know, it is known that the particular picture you presented is a tesbed for the gun on movable chassis. From that rear angle we can see there is nothing inside that turret and the loading is entirely manual.
  18. This actually is just a motorized gun testbed used to observe gun and chassis dynamics. Nothing to do with unmanned turrets here .
  19. Oh don't you dare be reasonable and on topic!
  20.
