Yes, a few years ago it seemed that Defense Ministry under Serdyukov has finally gotten the upper hand over General Staff and Chief Auto-Armored Forces Directorate in its long struggle to kill T-80 in the name of standardization and fuel economy. All T-80s were slated to be put in reserve by 2015. However, the dwarves dug too greedily the replacement process was organized too hastily, and several units had T-80BVs replaced not with T-72B3s, but with regular old T-72Bs - a noticeable downgrade in terms of fire accuracy, mobility and serviceability. This resulted in a wave of formal and informal complaints from the troops. When Serdyukov was replaced by Shoigu, who is much more restrained and catious in his approaches, and who seemingly holds more respect for the soldiers' opinion, the process of T-80 replacement seemed to slow down or be halted altogether.
 
One indication is a recent interview with the deputy commander of the 4th guards Kantemirovskaya tank division, where he indicates that they are actively rearming with "T-80E" (likely a misspelling of T-80U-E1: surplus T-80UD turret gets a modified FCS with 2nd gen. "Plisa" gunner TI sight and is dropped into T-80BV hull with a modernized glacis (improved composite filaments structure + "Kontakt-5") and modified GTD-1250 gas turbine engine (turbochargeable to 1400-1500 hp)). Also, it seems (could not find official confirmations, but some people connected with tank repair plants were confirming it on several military forums) that 600 T-80BVs of the Eastern military district are slated for technical status repair (i.e. anything not functioning up to specifications will be repaired, but no complete overhaul) and minor modernization (so far the digital communications suite and improved engine were mentioned) - apparently this modification is called T-80BA.
 
My guess from all this is that MOD ultimately decided not to rush things, and replace T-80BV/BA only with superior performance T-72B3. As the T-72B service fleet upgrade is about halfway through, it should take about 2-3 years for production capacity for T-80 replacement to be available. As for the more advanced T-80U-E1 and T-80UA (T-80U with improved FCS with 2 gen. gunner TI sight (likely also "Plisa") and other upgrades), which are similar or superior to T-72B3, perhaps they would be left in service all the way until replacement by "Armata"-based vehicle.
 
The winds can change again, though, so we shall see. This and next year's exercises should prove quite informative.

I am slightly displeased with organisers - very little coverage of "Armata"-HIFV and almost no "Boomerang" (Air Force could easily have waited another 5 seconds). The most prominent AFV (in directors / operators eyes) seemed to be... T-90A. Also, looks like the footage from the vehicles POV is not transmitted live, but is a recording from the final practice run, and the one from "Pantsyr" (at 1:07:28) really should not have been used...
 
P.S.: But the beautiful roar of T-34-85's and SU-100's makes up for all of that.

From our side it looks like it is the West (or, more specifically, the ruling elites of the United States and the governments under their influence) that is being deliberately adversarial, unconditionally demanding and hypocritical. It likes to crusade all around the world under pretense of dispensing justice and protecting the oppressed when it suits its interests, but screams bloody murder when Russia tries to protect its own people and their brothers at its borders from oppression by tyrants that are useful to the West, or does not see the sense in making yet another middle eastern country (which government has been inconvenient for the West) fall to religious extremist rebellion.

Since becoming an "ally of the West" (read: United States puppet) would entail losing any real measure of national sovereignty and any prospect of doing what is best for your people, Russia is better served by sticking to the allies it has now. China is at least honest about its demands.

All right, since this is likely to turn into an endless back-and-forth where neither side can convince the other, and therefore be a waste of time and energy, I will cease this tangential political discussion.

Yes, we need a new Revolution to restore the power of the people...

Since the WW3-type scenario that ultimately leads to total obliteration of at least one participating side is now a rather remote prospect, Russian Armed Forces no longer have to be capable of winning a drawn-out total war against NATO, but to present credible threat of doing enough damage to make the option of initiating any kind of military action against Russia politically impossible for Western leaders, or highly impractical for the Chinese ones. Which is why, among other things, the conventional forces have to increase their capabilities to the maximum achievable technological level as long as the potential enemies to be deterred are doing the same. This is one side of the issue. On the other hand, actual possibility of participating in local and regional conflicts calls for steps to reduce political, psychological and socioeconomic costs of such involvement, which is answered, among many other things, by increased protection and survivability levels of the new generation of vehicles.

Combined, these considerations make introduction of the new platforms a worthwhile effort, however long and arduous it will prove to be.

Open letter and personal statement
 
I would like to express a few words on a recent situation that came out in the gaming community: pay for mods. I have no intention to, I never had intention to and I will never ask for money for my mods. I strongly belive that my modding is something done for myself and my tastes (first of all) and for the benefit of the community (or at least those who might be interested in trying/using such mods). I belive that a lot of credit should be given to BFC (in this particular case) for making not only a great game but also a good mod support (instruments for unpacking/packing, file priority upload for the game mods, dedicated modding folder, easy to work with file formats).
I am for FREE modding, I respect those modders who ask, or are open to, donations and such, but I do not support any kind of paywall for mods, which are, in my opinion, a form of player-generated, free content for a game. 
 
I kindly ask not to start a Whole discussion about this matter here, but in case use another forum section. At the same time I had the desire to express these few lines here because I felt as part of the matter in question.

Doesn't seem very insightful to me. The chance probably doubled or even trebled in the last year. From 0.1% to 0.3%.

This mod adds 3 new flavor objects to the game, in form of three world war 2 russian tanks (T-34/76, T-70m, JS-2m). The models and textures were ported from combat mission red thunder game.
These flavor objects are not present in any game map created since now, but they will be available for map makers from now on if they decide to use them.
You will find these in game's editor, under "monument" in the flavor objects 2 Group.

How to install:
If you want to see your BMP-2M with their modernized equipment in this different shade you'll need to rename this file: "bmp-2m_turret optional" by removing the word "optional", thus overwriting the "bmp-2m_turret" file.
