  1. I don't mind the UI and not sure what could be radically changed give the complexity. I like the new design in RT. Maybe have it so you can move the whole command box screen around to the top or sides? Is anyone playing this on a hi-def 40-70 inch lcd/led TV? I'm on a dual monitor 24 inch monitor and 5.1 surround sound system. They have some cheap 27 inch monitors out, but don't rally think that's going to make a significant difference.
  2. So if Hitler didn't invade Russia in 41, would Stalin have eventually turned on Hitler? Would the Allied have been able to entice Stalin to turn on Hitler? What would they have to offer to get Stalin to turn? Many have postulated that it wouldn't have matter anyway as the Americans would have just dropped the A-Bomb on Berlin. Just started playing the tutorial. Is it me or does it appear the graphics are better? I also happen to like the new look of the game interface...
  3. There was a time when the Russians/Soviets/USSR/Warsaw Pact were the bad guys who were going to pour through the Fulda Gap/North German Plains/Turkey and challenge the US Navy in the Atlantic/Med and Pacific. Remember Star Wars and the huge news deployment of Pershing2 and Cruise missiles were in England and Europe? The Russia of old who were our allieds in WW2 was ancient history back then. The general public at large didn't have internet access and the media was dominated by the big 3 who set the agenda. Cable TV was a novelty and for a princely sum of $20 you could get limited programming that would repeat the same stuff over and over again. A Bridge Too Far would be shown over and over again on HBO. I would wait till my parents went to bed on the weekends to watch the soft core porn that was aired on cable. Things for better and/or worse are different now. The Germans were indeed kinda cool back then. The series World at War that aired gave a different view of things. In any case I'm looking forward to playing either side.
  4. I get home and open my Pre-Order Activation notice. I then search through the ton of emails in my inbox and saved folders and guess what... The original email that I got when I pre-ordered the game got deleted. I now have to wait to see what can be done next. I bow to the karma gods and ask for forgiveness.
  5. Dah those pesky paras should be no problem for the mighty German army. We will push them back into the North Sea and have plenty of time left to shove the Red army back to Moscow. Actually I'm very wary of the paras. Unlike the regular CW forces they have fierce close in firepower. I'm playing 2 h2h games of Borderland-one as German and the other as the British and in both games the SS troopers are getting mowed down.
  6. Oh man thanks for ordering a copy for me. You really didn't have to I'll get mine downloaded and installed this weekend and we can blaze away at one another h2h in addition to MG. Another one of my h2h opponents is also raring to go at it.
  7. I remember those days. You could also build models and have swastika on them and nobody would blink. I remember when an employee at McDonald's actually came to work in a full black SS uniform and poloroid pictures were posted with him and employees joking around. Nobody though anything of it. You could never do that in todays hyper PC days. I recently had to go through training and it was mentioned that times have changed. Personally ill play any side. To me the Germans are like being Darth Vader.
  8. I haven't played all of the battles, but have h2h games going in all 3 and have already made plans to start an h2h game or 2 in RT when me and opponent get it installed. Variety is nice. The late EF period was never the most interesting to me, but I'll get into it as much as the other periods.
  9. The EF does seem to hold a bigger fascination for many gamers. I would like to see more of the 39-42 period, but ill take what I can get. Italy interests me. I'm reading Day of Battle and it sounds like some of the toughest battles fir the American army was in Italy. Salerno almost sounds worse than Normandy. They were seriously considering re - embarkation of the invasion force and that could have been a real disaster and had that occured it could have had huge ramifications for the Normandy invasion. One of the surprise air attacks by the Luftwaffe was considered the second worse surprise attack after Pearl Harbor.
  10. I just check my email and got the notification. They are probably doing this in stages. I think they also have to process your credit card so that takes time too. Its going to be 6 or 7 hours before I can try to download anyway. I got a 50 meg connection. We'll see if things die down by then.
  11. Im in an ornery state of mind being its the weekend and its going to be a nice one after a long period of needed rain. I should have put a smiley wink after the comment in jest...im not at home on my normal computer, but using a smartphone that sometimes gets wierd when I use it online. Anyway enjoy RT.
  12. Calm down...I was just joking. Its Friday and im just gearing up for a great weekend RT or not.
  13. Can't say I didnt walk into that one. No big deal. I cant do anything about it anyway as im at work and most of my Friday is shot anyway. If there is one thing you learn its patience. Nothing is worth getting too worked up over. Not much of a believer in karma either. Where I live far too many use it as a cop out for their situation in life. Instead if trying to better themselves they quote karma and go about their lazy ways.
  14. I checked my email and no notification even though I preordered.
  15. They should throttle the network. USA gets priority. Everyone else 25% capacity.
  16. That does sound tempting. Most if my Friday is shot anyway. Work, pick up new toy after 3 and my FWB coming over tonight. It is tempting to go home and play. Ill have to wait till I get home. Ill may be able to get to a few rounds later tonight. This weekend should be fun
  17. Like I said Friday. Unfortunately an hour too late for me otherwise I would have come down with something and taken the day off.
  18. Aprils 1st is too obvious. A day after the manual is released is more effective FFE. It can't be far off. I think tomorrow is the day. Tomorrow is going to be a good day. I will get off work, go and pick up my new .357 magnum and when I get home I will fire up my computer and see an email message saying RT is ready to be downloaded. Tomorrow will be a good day.
  19. I'm about to sacrifice a Cornish game hen so that should appease the karma gods. I do wonder what exactly you're referring to though. Are you getting reinforcements in Men with Suspicious Hats? Or are you waiting for my assault up the hill. in King Ludwig? I don't the thought of a frontal assault up a hill defended by what I presume are Germans who will fight. I'm finding CW troops a bit light on firepower and the 2inch mortars are not in the 60mm class.
  20. Combat Mission Touch 1.50 update that is.. Meanwhile back on the Eastern Front...
  21. Live below your means. Easier said and done-especially in the Western Media Industrial Complex society that worships otherwise.
  22. Well now that we're handing out advice I'll give my uninformed .02 cents. What JK says makes sense and its been said by other in the past-this should be done and agreed on before you tie the knot as should a pre-nump. I can see it now...the girl/woman saying its unromantic, not right and shows a lack of faith, trust and what have you. However, realistically its the right thing to do, but then again when you're young and dumb...well you stick to your gun but it just happens to be the wrong one:p
  23. I made the comment in jest...probably should have put the smiley in. I've set off women for far less...a lot also often depends on the woman and what day it happens to be... Marriage was never on my bucket list of things to do and looking back I'm glad I listened to the head on my shoulders and not the one in my crotch when it came to that decision in the past. Ok BF you know its time to release RT when the natives start discussing marriage and relationships.
  24. If I had a dime for everytime a co-worker or someone else would lament they wished they were in my shoes and not married, I'd be a billionaire. Oh well marriage as defined in Western Society today is a relatively new phenomenon. It was in the past based on practical reasons not love and "equality". Guess many have learned that the hard way. I think in the Old Testament you could have multiple wives. No so in the New One... I hear it all the time how "they would love to get rid of the other", but they "can't afford it". That must be tough to live like that.
