Thanks. That helps.

I am buying an SPAA unit for a QuickBattle. It will be supported by suitable anti-ground unit forces, so I don’t want it to waste precious ammo on shooting up enemy infantry or vehicles.
Is there a way to get it to ignore enemy ground units but leave it free to engage enemy aircraft?
Would setting a circular very close range target arc still allow AA fire or would it impact that as well as limit ground target fire?

Yep. I personally would like a true WYSYG mode for fog, darkness, blizzards etc. but that would have to be toggle-able so you could actually play - as @ASL Veteran correctly points out. I think it would be pretty cool to follow a unit through the fog seeing what they can really see. Like smoke now.
Not to mention it would put to rest some of the "why can't my guys see that <insert big scary thing here> right in front of them". OK it wouldn't really stop those posts but we could turn them all into:
OP: "Why can't my guys see that <insert big scary thing here> right in front of them. The game is broken"
The rest of us: "Have you toggled on True Visibility (tm) mode?
OP: "Oh"
This is something we discussed with @Battlefront.combefore. We have toggleable smoke. We have toggleable trees. We have toggleable artificial brightness for night battles. Toggleable fog/snow etc is no different. It is NOT directional, there is no arc, it changes nothing in the engine in terms of showing what a unit might or might not see. Just like turning off or on smoke changes no spotting information. It makes a heck of a difference in what the PLAYER can see and that is what we proposed for fog, rain, snow etc. It is very difficult to intuitively gauge what the guys on the ground can see when the player can see almost perfectly in dense fog.

“They” haven’t because it is supposed to work that way. Every one of those six situations in the list 3 posts up is by design.

I must be blind, I see no mention of steam on the CMCW product page

There are a number of vehicles across the titles that are in the game because they're in the real world TO&E but are of little utility at CM scale. None of that is CM's fault, its just part of the world they're trying to simulate. You need to learn to work around the disadvantages as well as exploit the advantages,
The SdKfz 251/3 Engineer half track comes to mind. Just a cost-ineffective way to transport a lot less men than in the 251/1 variant, but it’s in the game nonetheless because it fits real life TO&E. I buy them because I want to have a realistic feel to my formations.

Are there instructions on how to access the steam version for owners of a BFC version ?

This is a hilarious read.

Depends on the version you are talking about. The original had no opportunity fire.

What a roller coaster. Great to see how this is playing out and it really shows how with a peer to peer force it only needs a little (bad)luck for things to tip one way or the other.

I think this statement sums it up better than anything. Roller-Coaster!

I run CM on multiple Mac and Windows computers each with integrated and discrete GPUs, and I’m not the only one. It will use the discrete GPU autonomously in MacOS and with some changes in settings in Windows 10. See my reply to your thread here:
-
Simple way to do this without using Nvidia’s tools:
In Windows 10, click START - Settings - System
then Select Display
Scroll down to Graphics Settings right below Advanced Display Settings
The second section in the window that opens is called Graphics Performance Preference
use the Browse feature to find the exe of the game you want to have use the discrete GPU. You can set that by clicking on the app once it is added, and select Options. There it gives you a choice of windows deciding, or the integrated GPU or the Discrete one

Those red unit icons in the background blend with the crosses and trick the eye in a quick glance. I kept thinking that somehow you killed dozens of people, not 3.

All this talk of people without pants makes me think this is Fulda Gap: Burlesque.

Lovely screenshots. This is perfection.

I enjoyed Bil and c3k’s CMBS Beta AAR some years ago, watching modern kit go and bang each other about, but this will be a completely different experience. Really looking forward to it!

I remember reading Hackett’s Third World War, Coyle’s Team Yankee, and wanting to play out those battles and feel those stories. Now I get to do it for “real,” rather than the board games I bought back then. Awesome stuff, Bil!

I have one on order too. Please post your experience here if you have time. Might be good to compare how things go.
