upgrading from 1.0?
A Canadian Cat replied to Jiggathebauce's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
I believe @Pak40 is correct. Just buy the 3.0 upgrade and then you get access to the all in one installer that @StieliAlpha mentions and you can just perform one install. Ps it is possible that the 3.12 patch will need to be applied if the all in one installer is not updated yet. -
Adjusting multiple mortar fire
A Canadian Cat replied to Swant's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
I believe you guys I do not remember the last time I adjusted a fire mission so I am not really surprised that few have noticed this. Can you log it @MOS:96B2P ? -
Anyone up for a little tournament?
A Canadian Cat replied to Bimmer's topic in Combat Mission Final Blitzkrieg
Summer holidays, too tight deadlines. There are to reasons you might not have received enough people. I would have signed up if I wasn't concerned I would run out of time. So that is at least one person accounted for. A couple of others echoed that concern.... -

It's fun. You will have a good time. The Farm was great and this should be better given that you get to play all the scenarios. My problem is that if I am forced to end a battle early because of a deadline I'll be annoyed and feel like it was all a waste of my time. I have just had that happen and have no desire to repeat. I imagine there will be no issue getting takers and filling up all 16 slots though. -

Good luck everyone. I am not going to get into this one unfortunately. I already had an unfortunate wasted experience with deadlines that were too tight a few weeks ago. I am not eager to repeat that. -

Indeed. From reading these forums we can see that some wargamers are not happy with semi realistic behaviour either. -
On a note book computer? I have had to do that for every game - as you should.

Javelin vs Laser Designator
A Canadian Cat replied to TheForwardObserver's topic in Combat Mission Black Sea
Not my kids - they have seen all of the Monty Python stuff (and had countless friends over to watch too). Heck they make reference now that I have forgotten about. Mind you some of their friends do say Monty who? - but to them -

Those are very tight dead lines. 21 day windows is tight but OK for 15 minute but not for 30 minute scenarios. I would love to be involved but I don't want to be in a position where time runs out while trying to play - not again away. -
Adjusting multiple mortar fire
A Canadian Cat replied to Swant's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
No I think he has called two separate missions with an FO (one after another). Then, as they are both ongoing, he would like to adjust one of them. I believe that is perfectly reasonable. However when he selects on and adjusts it they both adjust. It sounds like one goes where he wants and the other gets shifted relative to the first one. -

The Sheriff of Oosterbeek – A Scenario Design DAR/AAR
A Canadian Cat replied to JonS's topic in CM Normandy Maps and Mods
Excellent, good to hear. The addition of the overlay got me over the hump and working in the editor. Single best feature they ever added to the game IMHO. -
I doubt it. I do not think the Tac AI really knows about objectives. Is it possible the US tank noticed the HQ tank first? For enemies of equal threat they will usually target the first one they see and not change to another target until they loose site or destroy the first one. Yeah some times they do some times they do not. This is supposed to simulate damage to gear. Or there could be a subtle bug if this always happens. The question that needs to be answered is does it always happen that way? I have never really noticed the frequency this happens and I certainly have never tested it.

Bug?hopefully a one time glitch?
A Canadian Cat replied to weapon2010's topic in Combat Mission Final Blitzkrieg
Oh that sounds bad. Let us know if it fixes itself. How big is that scenario? I have never looked at it. If you can share a PBEM file (you can put it into our dropbox folder if you like) and PM me your pw and it would probably also help if your opponent could share his pw with me as well. PM or email - which I believe you also have. I promise I will not tell anyone either pw or spoil the game in any way. -
CMFI Splash Screen in CMFB
A Canadian Cat replied to LiveNoMore's topic in Combat Mission Final Blitzkrieg
Sounds like it. From its point of view it would be a sub folder and therefore traverse into it. -
I hate "Hunt", and I don't mean Jeremy !!!
A Canadian Cat replied to noob's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
I am actually surprised they all stopped as well. Others have hypothesized why they might have so it could be that the criteria spotting an enemy or being fried upon also includes nearby friendlies being fired upon as well. That seems to match what you are seeing. This is good advice (well the referenced post is). This is pretty much what I do -
CMFI Splash Screen in CMFB
A Canadian Cat replied to LiveNoMore's topic in Combat Mission Final Blitzkrieg
Oh I have an idea... where did you unzip the patch install files? If you did not unzip them into an empty folder the installer will pickup other files it finds and kindly I install them too. In this case you likely had CMFI files in the same folder and they have been i installed too. I am afraid the solution is to delete what you have and install the base game again and patch it again. -
OK sorry I'll be more explicit. On the subject of how do you know -> by reading the fine print / readme / forum post associated with the mod. For example Vin goes out of his way to point out that his mods are version specific. If you don't see that kind of language in the description of a mod then it is not version specific. At the moment the only one I know of is Vin's Animated text mod. On the subject of where to put mods -> On my machine I have CMFB installed in "C:\Programs\Battlefront\CMFB". Which means that there is place for mods in the documents folder in a location like this: "C:\Users\<username>\Documents\Battlefront\Combat Mission\Final Blitzkrieg\User Data\Mods". That location will be used by any version of the CMFB game you have installed. There is however another place you can put mods - under the game install directory, which for me is here: "C:\Programs\Battlefront\CMFB\Data" that location will only be used by the version of the game installed at "C:\Programs\Battlefront\CMFB". I always create a "Mods" folder under that so I can keep track of what I added. So now I can have "C:\Programs\Battlefront\CMFB" and "C:\Programs\Battlefront\CMFB101" running and sharing all my Aris vehicle mods (in the shared my documents mod directory) but each with their own version of Vin's Animated text mod (each a separate mod in the game install directory). If you are not one to keep multiple versions around for long I admit it is not really super important. But it does serve as a reminder that certain mods are version specific. My way of working is to copy my game install and patch the copy so I am then able to run either version. After I do that copy I delete any install directory mods so after my patch it will run without problems.

Normandy and Italy Updates?
A Canadian Cat replied to Bloody Bill's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
Generally bug fixes and improvements do get moved over. I think Steve is on record though as saying that tank riders are a maybe and not a certainty just because of the amount of work. We are just going to have to wait and see I think. -

Adding a covered arc is one possible way to go. Or you could switch to quick with pauses instead. I often use a combination: quick for a few bounds followed by a hunt bound. -
v1.01 Patch almost here. Patch notes inside!
A Canadian Cat replied to ChrisND's topic in Combat Mission Final Blitzkrieg
Fixed that for you. Do not just unzip to anywhere. Make sure you use an empty folder. -

Which is their standard policy. When that will be is anyone 's guess.
