  1. JerseyJohn, Hey, that's a great idea! :D Make a thread about the what ifs and almosts of WW II, I certainly would be intrigued and entertained. I almost would do it myself, but I don't want to steal your thunder, and you do a better job of getting it started. Go for it.:cool:
  2. Ditto, Merry Christmas and best wishes to all here at the forum.
  3. In the "what if" department, there are two I recommend: 1) "The Hitler Options", edited by Kenneth Macksey (numerous authors), published by Greenhill Books and Stackpole Books, 1995 2) ""What If", edited by Harold Deutsch and Dennis Showalter (numerous authors), published by Emperor's Press, 1997
  4. JJR, Oops! Sorry, you're right about that. Open mouth, extract foot. :D
  5. JerseyJohn, Great presentation about the lack of cooperation of the Axis. I couldn't help but notice how late you put that in. What were you doing, watching "World at War"? Perhaps the game should have a "random event" occur once a year, like having a 50% chance of Italy declare war on a random country in the world, or Japan declare war on an asian country not affiliated with anyone in the same way.:cool: As far Axis powers in recent years, don't forget the one from within (I'm sure you will appreciate this one): Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld. Now there's an evil triumvirate.
  6. For us who only speak English..... What the heck are you two talking about?? Inquiring minds like to know. Is that code?
  7. Gee, and I thought the guy was just being friendly. I guess we should have realized no one could be THAT friendly. It just HAD to be a troll.
  8. Ludi, Very good idea. This seems to me a very worthwhile and realistic approach for the developers to put into the game. Hey development team, what do say about this? Some feedback on this would be greatly appreciated.
  9. Jersey John, Are you sure that orb you were looking into wasn't one of the palantir (Seeing Stones), and you were gazing into the eye of Sauron? Be very careful, my friend. As far as the politicians go, you are right. You are so, so, right.
  10. Oh, alright Jersey John, I admit I have one of those electron particle beam facilities in my garage. I thought after a few years nobody would mind just a little Christmas snow. Unfortunately, my aim was a bit off the mark here, because the worst of it hit about 100 miles to the south of me. Oh well, those corrupt politicians deserve it.
  11. Hey Hubert, I know it's late in development, but would it be possible to make this idea a possibilty? Just curious.
  12. Welcome J.P., enjoy the show. What have you missed? Quite a bit, but no loss, its all still here, 10 pages of entertainment and intrigue, even dare I say some espionage at work. Many of the vets here have already put in lots of background on themselves (and certainly put in their 2 cents, or 2 dollars in some cases), so step right up and introduce yourself, tells a bit about yourself, and don't be shy (pay no attention to "The Man" behind the mirror). Oh, and did I forget to mention? according to Jersey John, the four Horseman of the Appocolypse have joined us today in a neighboring thread also. Step right up and be entertained!
  13. DD/Sea Monkey. I agree. Its time for the development team to do some serious improvements to the sprites, particularly the infantry and artillery. Of course, as one of you mentioned, the time may be rather late for the main Global SC, but perhaps for an expansion, if they haven't gone ahead and made a few changes for this one, unknownst to ourselves.
  14. Not a bad idea, Arado. By the way, has anyone noticed the deafening silence from Hubert and Co. the past 10 days or so? Haven't seen anyone's suggestions or questions answered in awhile. If I didn't know any better, I would swear an announcement concerning development is fast approaching. ;)
  15. Uh, we were talking about................snow! Yeah, that's it, SNOW! Lots of it! Don't look now but (seriously) we here in the Mid-Atlantic states are about to get our you-know-what's kicked with a near blizzard in about 24-36 hours. Batten down the hatches, boys. Here it comes! Us snow lovers are lickin' their chops. :D:D Oops! A bit off topic. Sorry, couldn't help myself. What do you want from a Snowman..er...storm.
  16. So what you're all saying is Rambo is Kuni...who is Hubert.....who is JerseyJohn...who is Desert Dave...who is Brian the Wise...who WAS Otto...who WAS Rambo....who WAS Kuni.......ewwwww, my HEAD is spinning. Someone stop the merry-go-round, I'm getting a headache. :D:D OH! Forgot. Welcome, Brian the Dane. Hey Sea Monkey, I tried once to download the demo to SC1, but didn't seem to be available anymore. Did anyone else try lately?
  17. Ditto, DD. I think your ideas on it are just what the doctor ordered. Those issues always frustrated me too, forcing me to go to the editor to find a way around it to some degree, but could never quite perfect it enough.
  18. I've got a Dell Dimension series Pentium D not much different from Sea Monkey's specs a little over 3 years old except with Windows XP, and it does well with the game too.
  19. Happy Cat, Sounds like you've been at computer games as long as me (I started with Wizardry back in the early-mid 80s with an Apple II Plus, what a dinosaur that was). Basicly I'm into strategy games of many types, but WWII games always have had me fascinated the most. Started with SC II, but never had SC I. What was SC I like? I don't think I have a clear picture as to the difference between I and II.
  20. Kuni, Kuni. Perhaps you missed my earlier message on this thread. Here, let me cut and paste it in here again so you can see what's going on. "This thread may be a bit off topic, but I respectfully disagree with you. Take a look at the title of this thread, and the response it has gotten. It has even apparently brought in a few who have been away for some time, and I'm sure many have enjoyed it. Heck, it even got one of the Beta Testers to add a bit of their own story to it. I wouldn't discourage it for a moment (Jersey John, no need to find the door, you're welcome). Take a look at the amount of traffic it has generated. Sure some are repeat viewers and repliers, but it is generating alot of interest in the forum. I can't imagine Hubert and Co. wanting to stop all the attention its generating to the site, even if it means letting some relate their own personal experiences on occasion. After all, you can always start another thread if you want to talk about something else, but this thread is not really all that far off topic. The game's main theme is WWII, and much of what is talked about here is either it's history and/or experiences of that time, or its relation to the game. " This thread has been going full blast for quite a while now. If the moderator(s) really thought it was a problem, don't you think it would have been ended by now? They check on it regularly. If I'm wrong, I'm willing to take the heat for it. If there are others who feel the same way, let them speak up about it. Otherwise, I am not losing any sleep over it, and neither should you.
  21. JJR, What I have is similar to what you have, except I use Windows XP, and I haven't had any problems like the one you're having. I've heard that there's alot of problems happening with Windows 7, so perhaps that's what's causing your problem, not the computer itself.
  22. Ludi, I think you may be right. If subs are allowed to attack other subs through an advancement, the Intelligence Tech would probably be the right way to go. Any opinions on this, Hubert?
  23. Uh-Oh, you're gonna get Sea Monkey's dander up with that comment, Hyazinth. So what's wrong with Texas? Otherwise, looks like you did your homework. There IS some good value stuff still out there, but the rest of the stuff.....look out in 2010 (probably sometime this winter the bottom will be falling out again).
