  1. I hope BF won't mind me promoting a different game in their forums but they're so different from each other I assume it's ok. ArmA is a FPS from Bohemian Interactive. It's from the team that made the first Operation Flashpoint but NOT the disappointing Operation Flashpoint 2. Outside of the US the game is called Armed Assault and here in the states it goes by ArmA. The game has a very steep learning curve. It's like BF2 in a way since you can run around as inf or jump in any number of vehicles. The game looks amazing if you have a PC that can handle the options turned all the way up. I like to think of the game as an extension of CMSF sometimes since I can jump into some of the same equipment and drive it around myself. I've even tried creating a few CMSF maps in ArmA. The releases are as follows... ArmA 1 (Europe terrain) ArmA 2 (Europe terrain) Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead (stand alone expansion, Afghan terrain) ArmA 2: BAF (expansion for the expansion, adds British forces and more Afghan terrain) Check out the demo for ArmA 2: Operation Arrowhead. I'd be glad to go through some of the missions co-op with you. YouTube has tons of videos of people showing their maps and such. The game has it's bugs and since it's not from a US studio it feels a little weird sometimes in the story/voice dept. It's super realistic and has a very large mod community behind it. If you're stuck on BF2 I'd recommend checking out the Project Reality mod. Really changes the game for the better. I also play tons of Bad Company 2 but once I unlocked everything I don't find myself compelled to play as much.
  2. Excellent! Thanks for the reply. I've been hitting ArmA 2 pretty hard lately. The new British content is fun to play with. BF2 has been continually installed pretty much since the day it came out :-)
  3. Do you remember the name of the show or the network it was on?
  4. This has been covered in many threads already. Just a few... http://www.battlefront.com/community/showthread.php?t=92906 http://www.battlefront.com/community/showthread.php?t=88122 http://www.battlefront.com/community/showthread.php?t=87969 This forum has a search function... http://www.battlefront.com/community/faq.php?faq=vb_board_usage#faq_vb_board_search Good luck.
  5. Make the "Z" folder inside your "Data" folder which is found in your main install dir.
  6. I know it was already mentioned in this thread but I'd second the recommendation of "Road to Dinas". Very well done campaign.
  7. Haha! Funniest thing I've seen all day.
  8. I'm pretty sure the Shilka will be used in a ground attack role only.
  9. Totally agree Pvt. Ryan! I'm amazed at how some people are complaining about the time it takes to make the game. BF owes us nothing when it comes to new games. It's not like you've already paid for it and they're not delivering a product. These are the same people that would complain about bugs if the game was shipped out too fast. Please just settle down. Nothing you write on these forums will make BF release any game sooner. If you don't think BF are working up to speed or if you're pissed that screenshots aren't coming out as frequently as you'd like, leave. Go play a different game. Stop wasting everyone's time with complaints and whining. The game isn't being made specifically for you. The rest of us will stick it out and get to play a great game when the time comes.
  10. I looked all over for this until I found out that you must have meant "Hogs in the Shadows". Looks good. Thanks for the tips.
  11. Recon by fire is very useful in CM:SF. Firing on a suspected enemy position can sometimes cause them to fire back, exposing themselves. I try to use the MGs on my vehicles to do this. They have a ton of MG ammo and the inf could use theirs for when the real firefight starts. Make sure you're using the "Target Light" command with the vehicles.
  12. When the Stryker gets within 300ish meters (RPG range) of suspected enemy positions, I dismount and move inf forward. ATGMs need to be dealt with before moving any kind of IFV out in the open, full of inf or not.
  13. You're correct. I think I saw a mod that did that. Since you're going to buy the game I would suggest checking out some of the mods. The colored unit and equipment portraits are great. There's also some good mods for sound, smoke, fire and tracer effects.
  14. I use the default setup. It took a while to get used to the pane layout but now I'm able to use it with no problem. I tried a hotkey mod but preferred the original style.
  15. I always play RT but find myself pausing the game frequently. WEGO is a little too slow for me and full-on RT gets hard to manage. Choosing RT and making liberal use of the pause key (ESC) seems to be a happy medium for me.
  16. I'm interested in your opinion after you play through the demo.
  17. Looks great! I'll be downloading whatever else comes next. Keep up the good work.
  18. This was discussed in the following thread starting on page 3 or 4, http://www.battlefront.com/community/showthread.php?t=92382 Some good info there.
  19. I've been sending this post to people I'm trying to pressure into playing the game. Excellent read and I'm looking forward to more.
