  1. Stick with it, you will be fine. Hedgerow fighting is tough but not impossible. You do have to micromanage you troops very carefully to make sure they find the gaps that you want them to go through. If you slap down waypoints with long movements then you are asking them to find the quickest way not the smartest. So, issue short movements and get down to level one or two to find the gaps you want to hit.

You cannot target through HR's unless you are right up on them. You will also find that your men can shoot straight ahead of themselves but cannot target at certain angles. So if you are behind a HR and the enemy is advancing straight at you, you are fine. If he decides to take another route and come across the field at an angle then you troops may have a hard time targeting. The easiest trick is to place a movement waypoint at the HR where you would like your men and then click on that waypoint and issue a target order. The red line will come up and show you where you can target and where you cannot.

  2. I think certain members "always" make the mistake of blowing up the negative threads. Yeah, I know that BF cannot answer every single bitch and moan but come on. BF are big boys and can defend themselves so I say just leave the habitual or off the wall complainers alone. Let the thread die its death and do not fuel the fire. Just sayin' 5000+ view and over one hundred replies. Come on guys RT is out and there are many more better things to talk about.

  3. Somebody explain to me why so late to see them?

From where the Stug is sitting does it have LOS the whole way across that field? If not then those armored cars would be coming from a blind spot lower down on the other side. Mix in the spotting cycles and I can see how that happened. If he did have LOS across that field, I have no explanation as they should have definitely been seen.

  4. Anything larger will not work. They will not mount the inside seats to operate the tank. Anything the same size or smaller will work. Yes, you can actually operate the tank without any of the original crew aboard.

If you have three of the four seats occupied, start the game, and then give the original crew a mount order one member will try to mount that seat but instead will just stand there and do the twitch thing. Seems he is wanting to jump in that seat but is confused as to who the other members inside the tank are.

Crazy bug as you could buy poor conscript tanks and mount them with highly skilled elite HQ's that cost hundreds of ponts less.

  5. Drunkin' driving will impair your ability to fight effectively in battle. Old Hans and his crew from a wild night out was in no shape to drive their King Tiger into battle. Wilhem insisted that he can do anything since he is "ELITE". Even drive a King Tiger!!!

    You following me! Uh-Oh!

  6. About the boxy shadows. Something *unfortunate* apparently happened during game compilation for the installer. Up until a week ago the shading for the game was spectacular! Before release I had joked "I wonder what entirely unexpected glitch is going to pop up after release?" I think we have a winner. Expect a patch or hotfix ro something soon, and expected very much nicer shading.

Nope. I got your winner. Go check out the thread.

  7. You guys being East Coast players....are you interested in any real time play? JoMc67 I know you joined up on Lacroix's Hamachi group but how about you Neutral Party?

  8. Funny thing... just last night I was testing out a scenario and a bunch of Panthers got holed by IS-2s. As I am playing RealTime, and am also distracted paying attention to what both sides are doing (Scenario Author Mode), I didn't know who nailed the Panthers. Since this has some bearing on changes I might make to the AI Scripts, I checked out the hit decals. While doing so I thought "damn, this is actually quite useful" :)

As someone else said, all new features have a novelty factor. If they are useful then people will take them for granted. From a gameplay standpoint, that's a good thing.

    Steve

Far from a novelty in my eyes. You guys are on the right track here. Hopefully you can get something similar to the TOW series. The hit decal states ammo type used, whether it is a penetration or ricochet, and the angle. Very fun and interesting to see what nailed your armor.

  9. LukeFF - Nice DAR! Enjoying reading it.

I notice in your DAR, as I have in a lot of PBEM games that I play, that the first couple opening turns are almost always a "RUSH" from both sides to gain advantage of the middle OZ's or areas surrounding them. I understand fully why both sides do this but my question is how does one limit this action before starting the game to make the game more enjoyable from both sides. Just curious how others play this out or if they just tolerate and deal with it. The scenarios that I have played that only have recon units on map first and then reinforcements coming in as the game goes on seem to deal with this issue somewhat. But in QB you do not have this option.

  10. Thanks Japanzer. I replaced the file and it worked up to a point. I clicked on infodisplayer402.uws and it took me through some instructs. I answered them all but choose F10 instead of the middle mouse button. I use this to toggle trees on and off. After these questions it started my Paint program, FRAPS, and Combat Mission. So what is the next step. I tried to open a game and hit the F10 button on a unit but nothing happened except a SS into FRAPS. Thanks.

  11. That "idiot" might just be Steve - your price for RT just doubled :D

Actually I think the issue here wasn't this particular use, IIRC it might also have been tied to a mortar being set to a target then moved to where it no longer had LOS. Would you consider that to be gamey enough?

Guess I was a little harsh by name calling there. I apologize for that one. But NO, I would not consider that to be enough. I see more people complaining about the issue at hand rather than the mortar issue. In fact that is the first I heard of it. Would I be worried about playing an opponent that used this gamey tactic. NO. I really do not think that would turn the tide of a game. Just my opinion. I vote to return to the original way seeing that the AS limitation is not going to be solved anytime soon.

Oh. Would you consider putting down smoke on a street not allowing my tank to fire through it gamey? If you would then Ian's find would be useful to counter this.

  12. http://www.battlefront.com/community/showthread.php?t=111250&highlight=attached+targeting+order&page=6

Ian found this out above which worked. BF deemed it gamey and eliminated it in a patch. I tried to search around but could not find any evidence of people complaining about this being a "gamey" feature. If anything I think they created a problem which you guys are discussing here. If they would have left well alone everything would not be perfect but satisfactory in my opinion. This little hint also allowed you to fire through that little invisible forcefield called "smoke". So if this is deemed gamey then using smoke should be eliminated from the game as being just as "gamey". Who was the idiot the complained on this being gamey in the first place? just curious as to why BF changed it as I did not see many people complaining.

  13. Ninja'd by Doomed.

You Senior Members should collectively hang your heads in shame to have a Junior Member (and "Doomed" no less) figure this one out first :D

Yes, we now show casualties in the 2D UI's Soldier Panel. This information remains for the duration of the game. The weapon representing the casualty is what the soldier had when he became a casualty, not what he has after weapons scrounging. At least that's the way I think it works. I haven't tested it to be sure!

    Steve

He was actually the second as I stated a "NICE" in my post. I will give it to him though as he is from the UK.
