I can only get a 10 Mb/s connection over the phone-line, due to living in a nice rural area, and it took me under 20 min.

4 1/2 hour must be some error,- you can't even get connections so slow...

I too think Battlefront made the wrong call,- the weak point in the CM-series are the graphics, and if they want new customers, they better make the Demo as "shiny" as possible.

    Cheers,

Did you just say "phone-line"?  That was a typo, right?

    I feel for you guys.

Wow. You've seen AP fly through 3-4 buildings in the game? Which title was that? Which scenario? Which group of buildings?

Seen it through multiple titles, scenarios, and quick battles.  Here is a little QB I setup to demonstrate.  I have seen AP go through as many as four buildings before but here you can plainly see that it is traveling through at least 3 almost 4.

  3. Well.  Pat yourself on your back.  Nice that you believe everything you read.  Not that I think BF is throwing some BS in there just to appease us but I do not think that the code was not tweaked enough.  I am surprised if it was tweaked or changed that it was not also QC'd by some in game testing.  No big deal.  Just sort of makes you question why your AP rounds will fly through 3 or 4 buildings back to back but gets stopped dead in its tracks by a small bush.  I think this needs revisited and can be tested with any simple setup.

  4. In my travels since the inception of CMSF I have yet to see a substantial reduction on the randomness or toughness of trees or bushes.  My opinion is that the randomness to hit a tree should be toned way down.  Should be proportional to the amount of trees in the A.S.  I have seen way too many times that a lone tree or bush that stops 3 or 4 rounds that are aimed at the tank sitting right behind it.  Also the "hit points" should be toned way down.  One hit and the tree or bush should disappear.  The concept of a tree taking a round and all of its leaves falling off but the trunk still standing?  what?  Lets just simulate that the thing exploded and fell to the ground.  In fact a bush should not even stop a bullet or any kind of larger caliber shell.  Just absurd.  Sort of turns into a gamey tactic.  I have seen many players hide or sit tanks behind trunks or bushes to get the extra protection.  Hell, I even catch myself doing it once in a while.

  5. Looking at Baneman's last move, I would have stopped the Big Kitty right behind those buses and sapling.  Unless of course BF worked on the invisible force-fields that seem to surround those things.  They can easily absorb two or three shots.

In fact he should of come in at a wider angle to cutoff the front two pieces of armor from LOS.  He would of been able to engage the back two without worrying about a 4 on 1 showdown.  Of course there is the bogging issue to worry about.

  6. An additional toggle to allow realistic bogging vs non-realistic bogging would be nice.  Playing with some of those new units will be sweet as long as they do not bog within the first couple minutes of the game.  I do enjoy playing ultra realistic sometimes but others just like to shoot em' up for fun.

Would also love to see BF work on the 'tracks in snow' graphic.  That would be cool as long as it does not destroy the FOW sort of like fences and hedges getting plowed down.  Would be nice for them to work on these too.

  7. Mark, I almost exclusively play QB - so your work is very very much appreciated. :)

Curious as to how you rate the systems ability to pick adequate forces since you play almost exclusively QB's.  My experience with QB's from ShockForce and up has been well not up to par as far as giving a decent sensible challenge.

Is BF working on the "logic" behind the QB system?  Any talk of allowing us to select certain percentages similar to the CM1 line?

  8. Disregarding "real life" tactics regarding whether or not to park OT vehicles in trees.  I would say it is definitely a good idea "game" wise.  Reason being that trees and little ole shrubs will stop AP rounds fired at your units.  Gives you another level of protection if you fail to pass your spotting roll and the enemy gets a jump on you.

  9. I guess what I am asking is point me to a link where a whole company or battalion of stg44 welding troops were used in a battle.  Are you saying they were used in force for the battle of Son bridge when the Panzer Brigade was deployed?  Or are they just listed on the CM TOE by battlefront in order to reflect history on paper even though they were not used in bunches in a historical real life battle?

  10. That's not how it works. If the enemy force is a Panzer Brigade, they would operate with full companies or bataillons of them. It's not like you randomly attach a platoon from a different unit to a force.

yes.  That is how it works.  In an average size QB game you would not be able to purchase more than that.  If you have information on this unit getting used on a company level in real life, I would like to see it.  If these units were not actually combat used but just documented on a TOE that is what I am trying to learn about.

  11. Just got ran over by a company of Strumgrenadiers in a QB.  Absolutely ridiculous what they did and with what ease.  The firepower is pretty much similar to Soviet SMG squads in CMRT.  My question is did these units really exist like this in real life and in what quantities?  Also, does anyone have any links to any real life accounts of these units on the battlefield.  Curious as to how they were used and preformed in real life.

    Thanks

  12. I would not sell the game short from these trivial concerns.  The camera is an easy thing to get used to or even customize for your ease of use.  Just takes a night or two to setup.  Use the keyboard to move the camera.  Not very hard and I find easier than using the mouse.  You can even customize it however suits you.

The "dashing mouse"  not sure what you or Ian is talking about here.  My screen moves pretty smoothly when I push the mouse to the edge of the screen?

I recommend getting a customizable mouse.  Mine has Mucho buttons that I can configure to work with almost any command.  For example: I have my mid-mouse button setup to toggle trees.  I also have buttons setup for "target" and "quick".  Two of my more used commands.  Makes things a hell of a lot easier.

  13. I did not assume, others may have though. I also did not contribute to it. Sorry, but I needed a tad bit more to digest. What they put out there was pretty plain and simple. If any one here works in the advertisement industry, I am sure looking at that attempt made them cringe. But hey, live and learn, right? Hopefully they do step back digest what just did not happen and then reapply to a new attempt. Definitely will still morally support this, financially when I see the new and improved.
