  1. I have had a look at 003.ema. Since I have to wait a while, I have done a thorough recon of my future attack grounds toward San Leonardo.. I hope that the possible tanks and Pz GR counter attack that the Intel is warning us about, will not catch my D Company on its exposed slope staging area on the near side of the Moro. I shall be in average, 1000 meters away from the height curve masking San Leonardo and the way toward San Berardi (the announced axis ot the German counter attack) If it does, I should still be able to rush the platoons down to the Moro, but since my intent is to have them deploy on the over side 2 up and 1 back, I might have difficulties doing it and my approach to my departure line on the other side might be disorganized. The lonely immobilized Sherman might give me some suppressing fire if needed, but for how long ? it should not survive more than 2 to 4 rounds being fired, exposed has it is on the crest with its hulk perfectly outline on the skyline. Just a question to our higher up ChappyCanuck, do we have some smoke rounds ? BTW Koh, I am very much impressed by the considerable work being done for giving us the pleasure to play this campaign. thumb up to you and ChappyCanuck Cheer
  2. You are right Kieme, I have found and reported during the testing of CMBS "Rolling thunder" that a M1 being lazed reversed and was therefore most of the time consequently destroyed. It would have been better to move forward and leave the threat area, but the AI, overriding the human given order, felt differently. That is how I have found, testing that problem, that the only way to avoid this deadly and unwanted ,reversing move was to give the M1 a fast move order. Cheer
  3. These three action shots taken in "Die Amis Kommen" are a clear illustration of the thrill coming out of CMBN to mention only one of all CM titles. If you played WEGO you were able to see it again and again and wonder at what was going on. The farther SS is surrendering. The other one is surprised, then he is drawing out its pistol. To threaten his mate or shoot him ? Finally he must have thought that it was finally not a bad idea to surrender.
  4. Actually I am surveying the area. Moving toward San Leonardo with Infantry might be easier than with some vehicles (Ladds being smaller targets) but the walk up there is not going to be a piece of cake. Awaiting further orders.
  5. Thanks Chappy, Good news I am moving on soon , bad news there will be no vehicles along. That reminds me a story. A surgeon comes in the ward and looking down at a wounded guy, tells him, "Ladd, I have good news and bad ones. Which one do you want to hear off first ? The poor ladd does not know what to say. "Well, my boy" starts to say the surgeon "the bad one is that I had to cut both of your legs " the poor wounded man cries in despair. "Come on ladd, don't let yourself down, the good news are that your bed neighbour is buying your shoes !" Cheer
  6. I understand what Sburke is feeling while playing. I am well over his age and I still recall the first simulation I was invited to use when I was around twelve years old. It was a Navy carrier based Air Force, ship strafing one. You had to climb in a cut down F4 cockpit and aim the sight toward a skeleton ship moving on in a water pool a few meters away. If your aiming was good the ship folded up and sank. Lights were also flashing if I remember it correctly, simulating the hits. I dreamed of it quite a few times. When I was twenty, the simulation I got to know about where entirely different, just starting to use computers and graphic display, with wire meshing. You really had to have your imagination working to feel a semblance of reality. I don't even mention the awful sounds.. When we talked about the needed future developments, amazingly we were right on what is done today. That was nearly 50 years ago. Naturally we came to it by graduals increments at the beginning and then the improvements were made at a quicker space. I recall that when I retired, we were moving to a new simulation, before even being accustomed to the preceding. Nowadays the long ago missing "situational awareness" is present to an acceptable level, even if it is not close to reality depending on the type of simulation being used. When I got to fly, few times, a DC 1O simulator in the seventies, I recall that all the flight gauges had to be reset at the end of the simulation and it took some time. The outside visual was black and really did not help you to get a "situation awareness". However stalling the plane at 30 000 feet and diving to the ground, seeing the altimeter spinning wildly downward and having the extreme difficulty to bring back the yoke even with the trims set rightly was scary, with all the warning horn blasting and the feeling of falling away from your seat. Today on Flight simulator the visual with some add-ons is fantastic and the sound not so bad. The instrument are close to the real ones if not like them and you really feel like doing an approach, besides the fact that your chair is not moving. Playing on a car rally simulation a year ago, I got so dizzy that I had to stop it. I try it again, but the curves made me becoming dizzy once more (I gave the seat, the steering wheel and all the stuff to a friend). Just that to say it is close to reality. BTW a world champion used the same simulation in the private plane moving him from a race to another one to rehearse its coming race. Lucky dog he was not airsick and did not feel dizzy ! For military simulation, we have to distinguish a broad one (battalion, company) to one playing a scenario at platoon and or squad level or even to a FPS. For each one depending on the scenario the thrill is there. I could conclude that to my belief a good simulation must be closely associated to a good scenario. The more the scenario is close to reality, the more the player will experience "situation awareness" and feel like he is right into it. Naturally the visual and the sounds are immersive and play fully their part I tried and played many simulations since many years and I always had a thrill and an excitement with a new one (even in my work). I never became an expert on one, since I had to move on the new ones and for my pleasure, at home, I did the same, more or less later to exploit fully my hardware and not get broke changing it every time a new feature and or game became available. I still feel like a young kid when I am introduced to new softwares and hardwares and that is the case with BF ever since I played CMBO for the first time. With CMBS we are on a very different things, but both have in common the scenarios. A good one will catch you by the pants while a bad one will make you drop it. Cheer
  7. Looks like in the 3.6 hex area, my D Company is, soon, about to begin its move across B Company. Am I right ?
  8. Hi Koh and Chappy, I agree fully with the way the CM battle will be fought. Obeying to orders coming from higher up even if we don't have a clear understanding of their reasons, that is what happen to a squad, a platoon and or a Company commander in a real tactical engagement. Cheer
  9. I'll be glad to fight it on the Axis side this time, if you agree.. Cheer
  10. Well that's good news, I thought that the way the news were coming in, nobody was left to fight the Jerries. Any indication of how the assault is going on ? BTW I am boarding my plane next Monday and I shall have no connection till late Tuesday and or Wednesday. Cheer
  11. Fantastic description of the battle ground Haiduk. However we have to keep in mind that to simulate these accounts precisely will be next to impossible in the actual CMBS. But to use some of these and put them in a scenario allowing a good playability will be possible. My intent at this time, is to make two scenarios. One with the Ukrainians repulsing the separatists and another one involving the capture of the airport by Nato against the Russians. That will make two different tactical battles. The tactical features of the airport grounds as described by Haiduk will fit particularly well in these two scenarios, providing the players with two different ways to fight. At one time the control tower will have to be reduced to rubbles, precluding any FOO observatory, only few highground spot will remain and these will be an obvious objective for both adversaries
  12. Thanks Haiduk, Good Intel for the for the OOB. Will be helpful when time comes to work on it. Cheer
  13. Keep blasting the Damn '88, our move through your line will be easier.
  14. Thanks kinophile. I hope that one Day we would have airport facilities available. To all of You. Being abroad, the work on the map is delayed till I return home. Cheer
  15. Chappy, D Company awaiting your order. When should we get the bbt file ? Cheer
  16. Hi Karl, I just played yesterday, before leaving once more, "Into the Green". Very good scenario. I even had the surprise, if I can say it that way, of a huge explosion destroying a truck and a Land Rover parked in a compound with the troops that had just loaded them, Looking forward to the release of "M'Wadis" hope you will keep down the number of all the IED's and close families deathy toys. BTW please provide us with a glossary of the acronyms you are using, not all of us are familiar with these. Cheer
  17. Hand drawn small tactical sketch are perfect for a WW II scenario. Your map RepsolCBR is very clear and has all the information that a junior leader would need to defend and or attack with his company and or platoon. More, they are close to what was done at the time, when a map in the more detailed scale was not available. For example in Normandy a Michelin map was used, showing the villages and the roads. A hand drawn map was however done, since on it were marked the latest Intel about the enemy whereabouts , the paths, the sunken lanes and all information from scout patrols and observation that could be of some help. The only thing that might prevent me of doing a hand drawn map is, that I am not sure to do it as well as you did it. Pretty good job you did RepsolCBR.
  18. Hi George, The landscape is offering many opportunities like overwatching the tanks going into the village and interdicting any escape from the Russians. It looks like the map is as close as it could be from the transcription made at the time by otto Carius and others.. I had no time to answer to your message, before you left for your biking in the pyrennees, being myself away. I shall do it tomorrow. Cheer, Mate
  19. The next work is to link the different areas being seen, the way they are on real pictures. The last 4 pictures.
  20. Here you are with 8 new pictures. The troops and or vehicles been seen are just there for the picture, they are not a part of the actual set up.
  21. Thanks for asking some news, I have been pretty much occupied ever since my last post and I had no time to post the pictures of the new areas. I shall try to do it tomorrow.
  22. Looks like we are about to fight "Green devils. Better leave our wallet back! Thanks for the tip.
  23. Thanks for your interest. Some pictures showing new Settlements will be posted this week. The map is nearing its completion, slowly but surely. Soon it will be time to start working on the AI
