Hi Erik.. just to clarify, most (vast majority) of items installed in the registry do not perform a complete uninstall.. they leave behind keys, registry values, etc. that bloat the registry over time. Not sure if its the same with Win7, but I presume so. Just run a registry tracker at time of install and see if those items are still there after uninstall. I imagine they are. If you are indeed correct, and there are no registry entries made when installing the demo (doubt it), then I would have no problems installing both the demo and the game.
  3. It would be a small issue since if they both were released together, I would not want to install the demo. However, my friend is on the fence about buying the game, whether it would run well on his older cpu, and I would want to PBEM him on the demo to get his interest up. However, that would require I install the demo too.. "polluting" my harddrive/win7 registry further.

Demo will not be released on a Thurs/Friday since they will not want a major code release (remember the game and demo will be ready roughly the same time) near a weekend in case there is a code crysis (yes I spelled it crysis.. as in the great series that was turned to crap when it was dumbed down for the consoles).
  5. Hi guys If I have the full game, and my friend has the demo, can we play the demo battles against each other (PBEM or TCIP) ?? I understand the 2 demo battles are included in the full game so I would also assume that this would work.

  7. Just an update, as I have gone half a week and not even the demo (not even the demo!) has been released. The attorney general has gone ahead and filed "People vs Battlefront.com, Inc." in Middlesex Superior Court, for the aforementioned charges. If you are in another state, and wish to seek compensation and similar action for your lost vacation, please consider filing similar actions. Please, refrain from any 'Thank you' or anything else, as this is as much the community's victory as it is mine.
  8. You, gentlemen, are correct. We cannot form a class for this action. I laugh too, as Dodger pointed out, that I could have been so naive. So I spent the afternoon doing more productive things, other than my job. I have been in contact with the MA State Attorney General's office and asked them to look into the matter. I was assured that it is reasonable based upon the grounds of misrepresentation and violation of goodwill. They are currently busy with the PS3 debacle but will look into this shortly (or so I have been told). I have chosen to seek counsel myself, since at this point, its pretty much Friday and I have no ability to move or change my next weeks vacation. I have heard other people's cries of frustration, and will be offering the services of the attorneys office once my own action is filed. Have faith, everyone! I am with you !
  9. Does anyone know how many people we need to represent in order to gain class action status? I am counting on those of us that took the next week off work to play the game, only to have it not be released. That's lost/wasted vacation time (easy to put a $ value on), attorney's fees, trebel damages, mental anguish, etc. I suppose even if we can't get class action status, we can still file suit individually, although that won't be as appealing and we would individually have to find representation.

  11. Hi guys. I never really looked to find out, but are false contacts in the game? I thought they occurred in CMBO, but I may be mistaken since I haven't played them in so long. The board game upon which this series is(was) loosely based up, Advanced Squad Leader, had some allowances for false contacts which would be labelled '?'. Would be nice if not EVERY '?' that pops up would indicate an enemy in that location. And it would add uncertainty to a certain degree, possibly recreating the sense of tension. I remember that sometimes you would only see the last known position of the enemy unit only to have it pop up somewhere else.. that was nice. But I am referring to the initial advance, where possible unit sightings would add uncertainty to the field. Along the same lines, is unit 'misidentification' still a part of the game?? I used to love that where inexperienced units would think Tigers are coming down the alley only to have it be something else
  12. I hope you guys are doing this since you are bored because its really quite an absurd discussion. Who the hell cares what they call it and if its completely accurate? The original question was legit and a simple yes or no was all that was needed.

  14. You are kidding me.. I am the only Pole on the battlefront forums ? In probably the top WW2 game out there? No way. Listen, voice acting is not an issue. I am Polish and with my family and extended group of friends, there's tons of people I can tap. I'm also hooked into the Polish community in Boston, so there's tons of people available outside of my circle. Just do me a favor, don't use some cheesey-a$$ American that took one semester of Polish in Colllege for the voice acting. Last time a game did that, the accent and voice acting was soooo bad that I couldn't play with the sound on. T There's a huge Polish population in the US and UK. At the very least, knowing that a WW2 game is in the works you could -easily- get dozens of volunteers if you put a simple ad in the right places.
  15. Hmm.. not sure whats going on then. When I attempt to play a game where the AI has to move at all from its starting location, it just sits there moving back and forth indecisively.. never really moving from the start, colliding with its own vehicles, etc. The only time it seems to work is in pre-generated scenarios (not QBs) with a set of orders.. and I use the term "work" very loosely since it still has many of the same problems.
  16. Hi.. Quick question.. Are there any AI improvements in the NATO module vs the most up to date CMSF patch? I love these game but essentially can't play them because the AI is so passive in QBs.
  17. Hi all Just reinstalled CMSF after OS reinstall and I am getting black textures on the ground in the distance. I think its at the hires/lores ground texture threshold. Anyone know what the problem is? I am not running any mods. Running on Win 7 Ult. 64bit, i7-920. 4850x2 Catalyst v9.12
  18. Thx for the reply Steve. So basically, the other video cards (9000 series/ATi) are not experiencing these problems ? (ie- are running well) Yea, my drivers are up to date for the 8800. I was under the (false I guess) impression that all the Nvidia cards were running poorly on CMx2. Sounds like its just me tho No worries then. I'm sure I'll be upgrading my video card soon, most likely before any CMx2 WW2 titles are released (what Im REALLY waiting for !!) so if its as simple as getting a new graphics card, then no worries. Campaign just finished so I'll upgrade to 1.08 and see what happens. As you said, it may just be the 8800 tho, in which case its time for a new birthday present
  19. How many more battles do I have in the campaign after street sweepers? I ask because this is ridiculous. I really love Battlefront's CM products, but I just can't keep buying this stuff if it doesn't run. I am running 1.07 since I don't want to restart the campaign and I am on "Street Sweepers". This battle is essentially a slide show, 1 FPS. This is on a AMD X2 4800+, 2 gigs memory, 8800 ultra, XP SP2. What on earth is going on with the rendering engine? The game settings are 1024x768 with the textures and 3d models set on the lowest settings. AA/AF is disabled. Nvidia control panel settings to 'high performance' (the only game I have ever run into that I needed to do this). And STILL single digit FPS on this battle. I ran into a thread stating something about the possibility of that the engine is defaulting to software rendering mode instead of OpenGL (I wont even ask why you guys decided to use a dying API, I'm sure theres a reason - http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/opengl-directx,2019.html) Anyway, anyone have any ideas? Is it really defaulting to software mode? How can I test it? Boot up XP in VGA mode?
  20. Yea. Been reading it since I've had the issues. Some people have frame rate problems, but its difficult to pin down. The consensus was perhaps something with the openGL drivers. Its been better recently (1.08) but still cant get high enough quality.

No. There are other posts on here with people running 8800 ultras,etc and getting average (at best) frame rates when the hardware should be able to run it hi-res, antialiased, etc. I was just curious if it had been tweaked. But if there are no changes, then I guess not. Thanks Elmar, I will see how 1.10 runs.
  22. Sorry to bring this up again, but is there anything new in terms of graphics optimizations in the Marines module? I ask because I'm one of those ppl with a nVidia card that chokes on CMSF. I know I know people claim its an Nvidia driver issue. In any case, I can't really justify forking over more money if its not running well, regardless of who is responsible. Just curious. Anyone have any better luck with nvidia beta drivers or specific revision?

  24. I love how people can't handle abstractions at this scale. No wonder doing 1:1 man scale is a pain in the rear end. Regarding the screenshots: As Battlefront.com said(no he doesn't have a name, heh), they are prone, in a crater (elevation of -1) so the don't have LOS, end of story. Doesn't matter how many pixels are over the edge of the crater (screenshot 2). Its an abstraction. edit- However, I don't understand the last screenshot if the -1 elevation rule holds true... unless the elevation of the road increases in that direction (looks flat to me tho)
