  1. Your taxes are pretty low I see. I 1995 after paying over 3M in taxes the IRS decided they didnt have enough and DEMANDED and additional 1.1M. The state wanted another 300K for there share after the IRS demanded this. I retired immediately upon notice that they wanted more. I had been gouged enough and was paying no more. To date I have not worked again nor have I been required to pay taxes since I removed all my funds from income producing. Did I lose a hell of alot certainly but as I said I had been gouged enough and I will never allow it to happen to me again. I am still required to pay land and sales taxes havent found away to avoid those. I had offers on some of the lands I own but cant sell them because I would have to give those bumms in Washington money again. Luckily my children will not have to pay taxes on my assests since I have already taken action to place the funds and land in the trust to protect them. Income tax is stupid. Working is bad and should be taxed. Dumb!! I dont mind sales and use taxes but working taxes is just stupid and they will never steal another dollar from me for them.
  2. Well, Borsook try CWIE it takes about 7 months of continuous PBEM for a game. I would say about 10 hours a day mininum to play a game in less then a year. Yes, I love that game. But it requires serious dedication.
  3. I know there is always a 0% chance they will join me cus I have tried. Hehe
  4. Blashy you are aware the seasons in certain areas are different then wherever you live. So if you were raised in Australia you may or may not know that winter is when summer is there. I know I didnt know that until I went to Australia in Jan 1995 and discovered that was summer for them. In the 5 years I spent in Nam I found they only have two seasons monsoon and hot and sometimes hot with monsoon. No winter, fall or spring that I ever saw. So seasons are not as clear as they first appear.
  5. I have seen Turkey join with only 10% in 1942 so you cant let the allies have a positive number or you may see Turkey. Seems a little much but I watch after I had that happen to me a couple times. But there is also let them join so you can invade and conquer them quickly. They fall easily.
  6. My God, Making History I bought that pig. I would rate it worst wargame release of the year. I cannot find anything good about it. Its like a sim without the sim. Its like a wargame without the wargame. Its like political, economic game without any reference to either. There is one thing it is really like and that is a really horrible game.
  7. Buy a crystal ball. Same chance as the weatherman in predicting the weather. Dont you love it when weatherman is announcing there will be no rain today as it is pouring down. Sometimes I think they forgot to look out the window.
  8. Well, I have now completed 3 weeks of play CEAW. Regrettfully game is so unbalanced it is unplayable. I have just given it up. I liked it because the Human vs Human was historical but I ran into the game having a pro Axis setup. Game is designed not based on what there was at the start of WWII but making it evenly balanced in 39. This was okay but then they gave the Axis higher production through 41 giving them more units and higher tech. This was not balanced by anything in the game. Regrettfully that has meant Egypt falls to the Axis every game and Russia falls in 41/42. I only played verses human since ai is asleep. I tried Axis won 100% of the time. I tried as Allies lost 100% of the time. Asked others and results were the same. So if you are an Axis panzer pusher who only cares about winning that is the game to get otherwise it will require at least 2 patches to become playable. I say 2 because the necessary fixes are not on the list for the first one so they may make the second.
  9. I love these discussions but I think this one is heading out of the gaming spectrum and we need to bring it back. People will start responding and thread will rightfully be closed.
  10. Is it statisically possible that stat classes are a waste of time? I remember mine in undergrad and grad school and I am pretty sure I had a great time and learned alot of stat. That made me believe I could convince anyone anything is wrong given the parameters I set fot the model. Anyway if you examine the various items not included in the odds you probably find your problem. It tells you want is not included so the odds are only a basic not final odds are given.
  11. Yes Steam seems to be doing okay. Personnally I do not like steam at all. Downloaded one game to it and now I can only access it through them. I prefer to own the games I buy not rent them from Steam.
  12. Attempting to break into the distribution of computer games is one of the most difficult tasks you will encounter. The number of distributors has dropped to a point where it is almost impossible to find a firm willing to place your product in there system. Most require a certain number sell and you will have difficulty proving you can come up with those numbers. Many want you to front the distribution costs. Those are not cheap. Even if you get it into the market you need to somehow advertise and convince the buyers this one actually works. They have been bitten alot. Years ago the small gaming market would have picked this product up and did some distribution and advertising but those distributors are all gone so it is not an open market that you benefit from here. Chessex, Alliance Wargamers West, Greentree all gone. It is a very tough industry in a falling market.
  13. Groovin on a Sunday afternoon Yes Groovy is still with us. I can now die with a smile on my face. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the game not yet invented but we all want. This game is a 7+. I can highly recommend it for AI play. The module players make are awesome. The owner of the company is a real person who talks to us regularly. So we get some imput. The AI is the best presently on the market. The players on the board are friendly and helpful. Hexes Sqaures or area mapping is not important. It is if the game is fun playable and replayable. The answer is a definte yes. Buy it and play it you will love it like we do. Jim
  14. Since I do not play HOI in human play doesnt matter. Matters for Civ III Conquests, SC2 and CEAW and Making Histroy. Different screen resolutions cannot be run at the same time. And if they can I would be interested in how it would save me alot of reboots.
  15. We all know whoever tests it in the end it will require 6 patchs before it is really close. We will fuss and argure how one thing was better in the old version then the new. We will complain the AI is not adequate. We will never be happy and say it is done. But if we were would we be happy? Doubtful because wargames can and will always need another tweak and each of us has our own opinion of good vs bad idea. For me if the AI plays hisortically and provides me a fun and good game I will be satisfied. Dont get me wrong I wont be happy but satisfied.
  16. Sounds good on paper but when I play as I said I am often working also so with turns I complete my turn. Let the computer do its thing while I am doing something else. Only problem I have with the system is when I receive multi games in many have different screen sizes so the alt tab can get really messed up doing that. Wish games would stick with one size for the games so I could run multiple windows of the games I have working.
  17. I hate short games so I prefer larger battles but all of those sound interesting. So if you make the map large but the scale small it would interest me.
  18. One of the kewlest things in CEAW is the way convoys work. The are actually subject to all ships but realistically only subs get to attack in open sea. Adds another whole deminision to the game. This game has the unique dive ability which really makes the sub better though. Making bombers able to attack the routes means subs will probably be valueless in this game though. Unless you really reduce there costs having planes bombing in addition to the Navy will be overwhelming for them.
  19. Primary reason I do not play HOI2 is the lack of turns. I hate playing games where you are stuck competing with the computer for how long you can take. Yes you can pause it be the game just doesnt have a start and end of time periods. When I play I am often doing many things including work so I must often alt tab and go to a window and do something. Incoming emails could be work another game I am playing or junk that I probably dont care about. In most cases I respond to customers in seconds and return games turns as rapidly as possible. Depending on game that is 10 min to a couple hours. Anyway with a turn based system I can perform all these tasks as soon as I complete my turn otherwise I cant concentrate on the game so it sometimes runs off while I am working.
  20. Try CWIE it is a division scale game that provides all this. No AI but plenty of players so you dont need to but you do need about a year to complete a game unless you and the opponent both have tons of time. No game has a map as large. No game has as many units. This is a huge two or three player game.
  21. Hexes identify the movment of units more accurately. Do we pay the extra movement for moving across a square? I dont know. Do we account for the actual flight range based on straight line or the angles? Again I dont know. It requires some trig and a little calculus to compute squares movement with the strange angles but that is not as true with hexes. There isnt an extra hex every two like in squares. If we couldnt move at angles squares make sense. You can easily turn squares into hexes. Computers use squares not hexes for there basic setup so they are easier to program but not easier to calculate. When Avalon Hill made the first hex based wargame in the 60's they received much acclaim by the industry. The first hex based game was made in 1942 by some math dude. Today many games use areas instead of squares or hexes. Personally I am not happy with that form but I will admit is decisively preferred over squares by me. Hexes do make placing units out of supply much more difficult because of the corners. I have tried and the corner hexes inevitably go back to the opponent supply unless controlled. Cant really tell which is better squares or hexes but I also with the squares cannot determine how far air will go in the game since it seems to change. I never have this problem in a hex based game because when it say 3 it means 3 not sure that is true with a square and if it does then it is really messed up because 3 is really 4.5. Anyway people do what they wish but I for one do not wish to move back 50 years to squares but this game has such great AI I will probably be stuck doing so.
  22. i am only hoping they dont destroy the rather perfect AI at this point. It is extremely historical and well balanced. Of course there are a few tweeks to make it better but with a new map and all it could destroy that balance. I will buy it regardless since the programmer/designer is faithful to us we need to be faithful to him.
  23. Dave is way off here. I like SC2 but for Human play you cant beat CEAW if you want a historical playing game. It is exactly what I have been looking for. It is missing a end of turn show for the opponent but that will be fixed. I presently have many Human games with it and simply find it great to be able to finally play a game that plays very historically by Humans. SC2 has the best AI in the business hands down. But the Human play for me is seriously lacking as I have said many times. I find SC2 when played with Humans to be fantasy WWII. Hexes are a huge pull for me. Squares simply are 50's wargaming. The convoy system is significantly better. The shock movement is really kewl. Much larger map. Dont get me wrong SC2 has some great things. Weather, best AI of any wargame, much better looking map and awesome support. Since I can afford both I have both and will play both. Human for CAEW and solo for SC2. Life is good.
