  1. I would say release will be Dec 7. This is based on NO Facts. But wouldnt it be great.
  2. The losses projected are verses carrier, battleship and cruiser since all are in reach of my air. The one battleship was outside his air range but it did not change the displayed odds so I attacked it with my Italian navy and then the land based air and sunk it. I still have been unwilling to commit my Italian Navy verses his main battle group off Tobruk since the readings on damage to my air seem so high. Hq is next to the air. They are supplied since they are rebuildable to 10 in all cases. Each time I have considered attacking the ships I was from 8 to 10 points of strength. 10 for the bomber and 8 for the fighter since he is damaged 2 each round doing air cap.
  3. I am having fun with this WAW tourney I am playing Sandy who is kicking my butt but it is the first time I have played where this game played as I felt it should in human vs human. It is late 41 and my Axis was unable to attack Russia due to really bad weather but that is okay. I lost Norway do to fine play by Sandy. I am still hoping to recover that problem but with time marching I am doubtful. Africa is strange I feel more powerful then him but when I look at combat odds displayed my poor Italians would disappear if I attacked so I am just being patient hoping he makes an error. Seems to me though the game is more interesting with WAW. I still doubt I would like to play those who run around capturing the world and ignoring history but we got some new blood with WAW so we have a more balance availability of players it seems.
  4. Navy works really well in WAW. Sure it is deadly and I rarely explore building a navy but that does not indicate to me there is not a viable option to present a serious naval threat if that is the direction you want to try. The one thing that does distrub me is Italian air is totally worthless vs British ships. Game I am presently in it is 41 and it a bomber or fighter where stupid enough to try and bomb a British ship of any kind it shows me losing 6 air to there 0 or 1. This seems inaccurate to me. I just do not remember the Italian air force as being totally valueless vs the British ships. Am I incorrect where the British ship immune to Italian air?
  5. Nice write up. I looked at those island also and the US in forts was just too much no way would I try those bad boys. I have been playing against my friend so AI was not relevant but I am sorry there is none yet in Asia but that is kinda as expected at this point.
  6. Looks good but I still want to see Commanders costs fixed. They are just absurd. I cannot picture an Italian commander worth 300. If Italians would start with one commmander and one tank it would be perfect even if these were half strength. Okay off to play your scenario and see how it works.
  7. Glad to see you are considering a WAW expansion for the globabl campaign Hubert. I know I as many of those playing this and your other games will greet this new expansion with both our wallets and our love of your games. Thanks again for the great work and awesome support.
  8. The Russian sub is in the ice flow next to Lulea. I am unable to attack him since I cannot reach that square but he continues to block supply. This is an bug I believe.
  9. I like Hubert's idea of adding a tank and Hq for Italy and the 3 units to Britian. That would give it a more realistic feel. The lack of a commander and the tank unit in Libya is both ahistorical and unbalancing for the Italians. As to Britian I cant say how well off they are but given the opinions I have read hear many seem to feel they are also lacking so those units would not seem to spoil the game balance.

  11. Have you examined the cost of a sub vs the damage a sub does. Subs do 20 points of damage typically a turn when they hunt. Do they get to hunt for 10 turns without discovery. Rarely if ever. Once discovered they are quickly surrounded by British and sunk or brought to level 1. Should they survive they must now limp home for repair where they are not doing any damage. I believe if you did a cost anaylsis of subs you would find even with there new dive which I really like they are very vulnerable and rarely pay for themselves.
  12. Personnally I like that Amph is no longer starting in America and landing in France or Portugal. Always thought that was strange. Yes they are expensive but in my recent game America still invaded France in 43. Since units are very expensive there are only units in each of the cities in France and the mine so defense is already near impossible. Building Atlantic wall is already neigh on impossible. You need an engineer and those guys are expensive. Now if you waste the money to buy one and commence building the Atlantic wall where are you going to find the corps to man them. Empty they are pointless unless they now do something when unmanned. I know I am new to this game and cant conquer every country on the map as most of you experts do but as it stands I find the game to represent the war well except that costs seem too high to properly represent the French operations for the Axis. For me the pop up like is done in Norway of additional troops would be great for France if each of your forts would come with a corp to defend it. Even if that corp was reduced as it is in Norway. As to Egypt I find it to play very well also. I can battle at El Aleimein for most of the game without much happening. It is extremely difficult to get past that fort. The one thing I have not seen in this theater is the British getting past the Italians defending on the other side of El Aleimein. Allies need to pump up there volume in mid 42 to push forward and capture Libya. This could possibly make for action in Italy and Africa since the US does not seem to land in Africa and Italy just sits there doing nothing until well after France falls.
  13. I am playing my third Human vs Human game. I am Axis. Round two I took out Poland. Round 4 Denmark fell. On turn 5 Beligum fell with me not advancing past the capital of Beligum. Suddenly Italy joins the Axis. Why? I thought you needed to enter France before Italy would join since in all my other games that was when they entered. Is there some randomness that could have granted me this boon? Now with the Italians at this early stage what to do with them. I have only the two 5's that start there and just ordered a commander in Dec so is there a strategy for the Italians at this early date?

  15. I have never attempted to make a modification to any of my games so before I start one I have a quick question. Do I need to make a second copy of the game or can I just do changes without effecting the game until I move them into the campaign start area. I dont want to mess up my game by making changes and having those changes effect the basic game without testing my concepts first. Please advise. Thanks

  17. AI is tough but yes it seems to miss some good oppertunities. Three possibilites come to mind. One is the AI simply missed the oppertunity. Two the AI was given multiple choices and the choice it made was different then the one I would have made. Three fog of war didnt allow it see what you are seeing.
  18. I find the game similiar with the expansion. It distrubs me that the Italians can never afford a commmander or piece of armor but that is how it is. Balance seems good though but as I felt in the past this idea that commanders should cost 300+ just seems alien to me. I know they come with supply etc but regardless all powers should get commanders or at least make them where they are affordable without conquering ahistorically portions of the world. I would also like to see the Italians have the armor they actually had.

  22. These are great ideas. I see Hubert has noted them so I am sure he will look into them. That should keep players and game more on track historically.
  23. Other then the lack of hexes this game has the most historical and playable balance of all the games I have found so far. I have played and do play all the games you mentioned most have things I like some I dont. AI is admireable in this game. Hard to beat and cunning which is difficult to find in most AI. As to your question about CEAW I play that also. Good game that has NO historical bias. This makes the game unrealistic to me but it is very playable and fun. Good AI in most areas but the Med. The diplomacy is lacking in this game but much better then anyother out there at this point. At least it does have diplomacy. This game has only 2 flaws, in my opinion. 1) player vs player is not controled by diplomatic actions adequately so it makes for such ahistorical play that I no long play without the AI. 2) Lack of hexes makes it very difficult to keep track of ranges and supply. This is a definite buy and with the preorder for WAW NOW is the time to do just that.
