  1. No go . 1C should NOT give decoder and encoder for SFS files, but instead should provide some root dir in TOW directory in which you could add/overide new maps and units, so practicaly TOW would first check that directory for any new data before reading SFS file. This would be good compromise, they would retain their SFS protected files and thus allow to add new items without SFS files being corrupt or changed!!
  2. That's the problem, data is encripted and compressed in sfs files, so no go if you don't have sfs encoder/decoder program. There is no program publicly avail. which encodes sfs's, so don't bother looking, 1C should decide to give this tool to public, but I guess this wont happen any time soon br. Dr.Jones
  3. The problem is not in creating new models and skins, this could be done easily, I could create .msh exporter for any model editor (wiht hier file, etc), even IMG can be easy to write, the problem is how to force the game to accept your new model, maps.In this version you can't ,just wanted to clarify this, read YES, write back to game, NO. br. Dr.Jones
  4. Not by mod community, only by 1C. You cannot change sounds, textures, add new units, modify existing data. You can only create new campains and new missions on the already existing maps. All unit and map expansion will be added trough new payable addons made by 1C and BF. br. Dr.Jones
  5. I know just how you feel, my sentiments the same some 16 years ago, when we parted from YU (those were the same reasons why we split) br. Dr.Jones
  6. Hi, I have seen that for each tank there are also armour thickness for both tracks as for all subparts of the vehicles, even gun has it's own armour thickness which is very cool, and as I saw the thickness correspond to ingame encyclopedia stats, but why is there also health number for each system, is this used in easy settings or is used for cummulative damage? br. Dr.Jones
  7. Hi, personaly I would recommend you this game, albeit this game has some stability problem, but hey even in first Half Life you could not play multiplayer normaly without freezes (or just see ARMA now), same with this game, just wait for first patch. Not really this game is very realistic (ok, comparing to all other games I mean, even ARMA isnt so realistic and is used in Army as simulators), so If you want some user's rewiew, mine is thumbs up. br. 8. Hi, recieved my copy in Slovenia today. Same here, thanks for 5$ value . Cheers. br. Dr.Jones
  9. And also a tip for all missions, at least those I played, never leave your units in setup mode as suggested by initial deployment! br. Dr.Jones
  10. Hi, As posted previously on the forum. Take always just 75mm gun (in this mission you can have 3). Place them in the village behind the trenches. Put them in the manner that you will have crossfire with the gun (possible shot from sideway also). And that is practicaly it, until the second wave comes and stops at the trenches and doesnt move forward, then just create the diversion, move some unit to his left flank, and move AT gun a little forward to (with hold fire) to target the tanks, first target should be MarkIV,(target the turret), and then just wait for third wave which runs to the village. Important is also to put some soldier (scout) forward in bush or near tree (over the slope overlooking trenches) with hold fire, hold movement to spot in which direction tanks are comming so you can preorient guns to correct direction. br. 11. I'm just looking forward to MapEditor, that's the best. That means that the addon will come with new tow.exe and missioneditor.exe? br. Dr.Jones
  12. Ha, Of course, anybody who has time to play around, I don't have much time to develop this full time, voluteers would be helpfull (especially C# programmers), I have full time job and young family so I have been programming between different tasks (squeezing in between). PS: SIO as moderator of BF, you don't have any issue about modding the TOW? You guys at BF own the TOW (licence) right? br. Dr.Jones
  13. Ops, I changed the profile, how about now? br. Dr.Jones
  14. If you email me I will send it to you. Here is screenshot of the tool.
  15. Im curretly working on reading files from SFSs, I can read now most of the main files and extract them to HD (Already made the tool, tools is crapy but it works at the moment). Also mesh files (*.msh) I have them 50% understood. br. Dr.Jones
  16. This is not the same SFS files.
  17. Hi, Sorry, I have been absent (on vacation). I will try this, the sound thing. About page allocation, I have just enough RAM for this game, 1GB, i know that if I had 2 GB of RAM I would at least have better load times. Also for other programs, I play other games, and usualy the other programs in the background don't crash the games, they just take resources (RAM,CPU, HD access, itd) unleast this other prog. is virus. br. Dr.Jones
  18. Hi, i generaly think that this game can be modded and that the game is not hard coded (maybe just enc.), what are hardcoded are types of units I would guess. You can see that in AI dir in *.rc files. br. Dr.Jones
  19. I don't know how BF feels about modding (I'm new here, see Junior ), Moon, can we make tools to extract data from these files, and share this info on Forum? br. Dr.Jones
  20. Hi, all info. on units, AI, graphics, skins and sounds are in *.SFS files, which are kind of mountable file as virtual directories. So without decoder or encoder for this SFS files, there cannot be any real modding, there ARE ways to read data from this files (I already have), but not back. br. Dr.Jones
  21. Ok faq was helpful, but in Control Panel I couldnt get the eLicense icon. If you want to start eLicense and don't have the icon in Control Panel, go to (Windows root dir.) and start C:\Windows\lcmmfu.cpl. br. Dr.Jones
  22. Hi, to unlicence the game you need only to uninstall the game? Is that correct? br. Dr.Jones
  23. Hi, Have you started missioneditor in the directory in which it's was installed at the first time, you cannot copy just MissionEditor directory to some other dir, the MissionEditor is dependent on other DLL files which are in game directory, this error message says that from missioneditor stand point I cannot find CORE.DLL file in ..\ dir which is one directory up. br Dr.Jones
