Cancel artillery when spotter is dead?
Dr.Jones replied to Shadrach's topic in Combat Mission Fortress Italy
Happened to me in TCP/IP match game. It was exactly the same, the spoter died after the mission selection and I could not cancel the mission. br. Dr.Jones -

Ok, when can we start? There are 22 members already and counting. br. Dr.Jones -
Thx Steve, what I love about Slovenia are the trees (and i'm no tree huger), 50+% of the land is covered by trees, so lots of green color here, that's why the national color is green. br. Dr.Jones

Mate, you are not alone in the extortion fee area. I have pre-ordered a few games from US (including BF) and I always get a 8 EUR charge + custom. No luck here, all packages from abroad (non EU) are opened and checked, so no Russian roulette for me. br. Dr.Jones

Not happy. I'm not paying customs and administrative fee to post office, too bad. br. Dr.Jones

I had a programmer friend working for Slovenian customs office who said that they a bunch of lazy slackers, not working and doing other business but the business which were hired for. I guess he was wrong. br. Dr.Jones

books and a game question
Dr.Jones replied to Big Mike's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
Mike, it would be best if you posted a screenie of the problem. About a book how about Panzer Commander: The Memoirs of Colonel Hans von Luck, he was regimental commander of the 21st panzer division. br. Dr.Jones -
Moon if i have had bought from UK, which i do a lot ( just recieved xbox game and i didn't even have to pay for postage ) i'm not charged the VAT (its called DDV in our country). One positive thing about this charge now was that they skimmed the postal cost which usually they include as product cost. br. Dr.Jones

Got mine today, as i thought our customs office as always is very alert about these kind of packages. I got slaped with 20% Vat on 60 USD (They gratefully skimmed the 20 USD off), which is 11.02 EUR + admin fee of 3.96 EUR totaling 14.98 EUR  I guess no preorders for me. br. Dr.Jones

Murphy's Laws of Combat Mission

Very true indeed, +1. br. Dr.Jones -
I have still problems with this mission. Making cease fire is not helping either. After that they have entire battalion there and the position is not better you start at the bridge and they still have the hill and all the flanks. I tried also to hit the observers on the hill but they have too many of them. br. Dr.Jones

Did concussive force bring down this house?
Dr.Jones replied to RooksBailey's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
Yep HE damage has more damage range than meets the eye (those falling particles are just for eye candy). I had a squad running and they were shelled 40 meters or more from their right side and i got heavy casualties from those shells, visually they were quite far from explosions but not really. br. Courage and Fortitude: Second Mission (Spoilers)
Dr.Jones replied to Dr.Jones's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
I have tried in WEGO and using your tips i gained better foothold on the enemy territory, but their artillery is raping me. This mission is really one tough nut to crack, all other missions you could outflank the enemy but here you can't do that only option is frontal assault and hope that your ass will not be grass . Ok tried now the cease fire, the colonel was not impressed and here we go again. Major those swamps are really show stoppers my platoon got stuck and got exhausted from slugging in the swamp and got pounded by arty and could outrun the shells . My advice is to avoid the swamp at all cost. PS: There are 3 AT guns and AI has several plans on this map, because AT's are randomly placed. br. Dr.Jones -

Major if you have the image, please post it. Yes i had an idea that finishing this mission is going to be very costly. Sergei, i was doing all the campaigns in the RT, maybe i should try in WEGO. br. Dr.Jones -

Sergei, i can ceasefire and replay the mission on later? What are the penalties for this? Yea those losses can really add up progressing trough the campaign, i had almost a problem with CMSF campaign because of that . Any tactical tips? I moved the tanks just a little forward of the village house and they get slaughtered by AT guns then I found a really funny situation, after the AT guns the heavy shelling started and found the Shermans on the move but the bastards stopped because of the moral plummeted, and got slaughtered by arty on the spot  br. Dr.Jones -
Hi, has anybody finished this mission without the losing a lot of TOE ? This mission is designed to give the attacker a really bloody nose so to speak. The german defense has at least 2 AT gun besides the hill, there is a river cut the width of the map and the german infantry is entrenched with one platoon on each side of the road which crosses the river trough the bridge which is blocked by wires. Did i mention that there are no trees or ridges to hide (the map is flat). Also the bridge is surrounded by a swamp. Also on the end of the road is a hill which has also at least two bunkers with mg's inside, besides the AT guns. I tried with mortars smoke but the wind dissipate the smoke in 10 or less seconds. And to make a matters worse the enemy spotters spot the troop movement in a flash and the whole squads get massacred by artillery which is very precise. So has anybody found a good solution to this mission? br. Dr.Jones
