Really disappointed in what I've seen with SF2 screenshots. Looks like the same old CM2 game engine. Call it upgrade 4, upgrade 100...or whatever it's called now. It's still the same engt that was developed in the late 1990s. I was hoping for something more...perhaps a new game engine that would support larger maps, better terrain, better performance, better multiplayer.

I agree 100% CM isn't pretty and runs poorly - especially compared to competitors like Wargame, which runs and looks amazing. CM still kicks the tactical sh*t out of any game on the market - I just wish we had the looks to go with it.

Hate to change gears, but didn't want to create too many threads. Do the TOEs contain modern equipment? Perhaps vehicles without APS, closer to the timeframe of CMSF.

So, you're saying Campaigns now have persistent, core forces?

Thanks!

First Impressions (General)
Apocalypse 31 replied to dutchman55555's topic in Combat Mission Black Sea
Quoted for truth! The retired SFC comment really bugged me. Whenever I'm at the CCTT/VBS3/JCATs those guys are very difficult to work with, and are less than flexible when it comes to altering scenarios. -
Elite, real time. Although, playing real time with any more than a Company-sized element can be overwhelming

Does BS have the map editor overlay feature that was offered in previous releases?
-
Not holding my breath, but I'm looking forward to the day we get an engine that was developer post-1990s

Matrix/Slitherine has started to add mp coop to their games. Tons of fun. Who doesn't enjoy playing with friends?
-
Will we see COOP mp with CM:BS?

T-90MS "Tagil" manufacturer's stellar vid

The A/C isn't for the crew. It's for the electrical systems Nothing. However, a CROW system linked to the CITV would be 'nice' -
Question about ISIS's tactics
Apocalypse 31 replied to Ghost of Charlemagne's topic in Combat Mission Shock Force 1
Correct. They were called ISI, and had many smaller groups/gangs that were affiliated. Not surprising that Naqshabandi is already butting heads; eventual it's all going to fall apart on them. When people realize it's all about money and power, and not ideology.... -
Need help from an Abrams tanker
Apocalypse 31 replied to John Kettler's topic in Combat Mission Shock Force 1
Real world tanker here... Not possible. Also, a recruit diving a tank in basic? Not happening. He would need a license. Finally, Marine tankers attend the US Army Armor school at Fort Benning. Not sure why there would be an M1A1 at MCRD -
I received your PM regarding my sound mod. I've been in Afghanistan for the last three months so I've been unable to reply. The forums are not letting me reply to your PM now, so hopefully you'll see this. Go ahead and use it!

I've always wondered what the pilots are saying in-game. I've worked with CCA (Close Combat Aviation) and CAS (close air support) in Iraq. I understand what the chopper pilots are saying, but I've never heard any of the lingo that you hear the CAS pilots use in-game. So I looked it up... "Dash 1 is in the pop" "DASH #" is used to determine the order of march for aircraft in a flight. "POP" is when an aircraft is beginning to climb for a ground attack. CMFI to make maps for CMSF?
Apocalypse 31 replied to Apocalypse 31's topic in Combat Mission Shock Force 1
Just copy the map file to the other game directory. -
Can the CMFI Italy map editor be used to make CMSF maps? I like the image overlay feature of the FI map editor.

MOPP suite not meant for long term survivability, just long enough to fight an advancing enemy or decontaminate. To be fair, every US Soldier in game is carrying a protective mask on their hip.

Is US ROE really that different from NATO's?
Apocalypse 31 replied to Charles Foulkes's topic in Combat Mission Shock Force 1
Leveling villages, you say? What's your experience? This conversation can go a few ways; We can talk about how much ordinance is required for 'leveling' a village. We can talk about how many villages have been leveled by US forces since both Iraq and Afghanistan. We can even talk about REALISTIC rules of engagement that US forces have had in both conflicts. Or we can just come out and say CRAZY THINGS!!!! -
I don't think there are any serious plans for coop, I can tell you that as I get older, I enjoy coop comp-stomps more than I do playing head to head.
-
Can this be done? I've been through a few computers, and there have been times when I accidentally forgot to un-license. Can my licenses be reset?

Now if the map editor only handled roads more fluidly. I'm finding it hard to replicate real life maps due to the fact that the roads in the map editor are very limited.
