I just want to apologise to everyone who has sent me a private message and I didnt reply.I just realised(actually my wife pointed it out)that I have a private message box. MAJOR stupid attack on my part.

LampCord(how did you ever come up with that name?)thats a good idea.I also think that PowerGmbH idea is neat although back in WW2 radar never really did much(if anything) for spotting ground objects.It would be an interesting upgrade and you sure could surprise an attacker who thinks he cant be seen. carverrt idea is more accurate and imho each side should be able to determine how many escorts and interceptors they choose to use for a given attack or defence.The consequences for underescorting or not using enough intereceptors would help greatly determine the losses and if the actual attack can still proceed.

The thing im not liking about this is that it will mostly benefit Germany.As the game is setup now the Germans have some HUGE atvantages they didnt have in WW2.Id say if you bring this in(im not saying im against it)then you would have to give the Allies something fairly substantial in return.

LampCord that is a much easier way but I am still wondering would you be allowed to counter it and what effect would radar have?

teutonkopf I agree that that the Germans nearly did destroy Brit.radar but imho if you add radar then you have to add counters to it and then it gets the game much more complicated and im assuming Hubert has to factor in the A.I.How hard will be for the A.I to know how to use and re-act and try to destroy radar.

Cantona66 I have never had that problem.Is there still alot of Frenxh units alive after you take Paris?Sometimes then they will fight on.

Radar stations are strategic but if you allow them(they would mostly benefit the Germans)will the Allies get somehting in return like being able to drop chaff?(aluminum strips that made it look like the Allies had millions of planes coming)We sometimes were able to jam German radar.I guess you all can see where this will lead if we add in radar.To much going on then.Do the Brits.get it for the Battle of Britain?Made a huge difference.

Imho the problem with the whole night fighter concept is that now you would have to add in different types of airfleets.The ones we have now are just single engine fighters?You couldnt really add a night fighter capability to them.Would you then not also have to limit the Brits.heavy bombers to nite strategic attacks only?Doesnt sound fair to me.Why would anyone want to use night strategic bombing if Allied daylight raids wipeout cities down to zero and the Germans werenot defending their cities? As far as Inf.weapons go,im guessing the upgrade is more H.M.G.s,better handheld weapons(flamethrower,etc).Mortars.Maybe it indicates more weapons per unit?

Gotta disagree with ya SeaMonkey on the Atomic bomb.Because it was so Ulta potent it was the main reason why the war didnt go on longer(and saved ALOT of American lives).If the Allies cant build it then the victory conditions should change atleast against Japan and America should get something in return for not having to spend the MASSIVE amounts it did to reasearch and build it.This is something you cant just take away and not give something back. I also think that when an engineer starts to build fortifications and has to move but the tile it was fortifying wasnt occupied by enemy forces then it should be able to move back to that tile and continue and not have to start all over again.The work it started would still be there.

Rambos right and so is SeaMonkey.Them Partisan dudes just faded back into the forests and were gone.I wouldnt like the idea of them hiding if they are rightout in the open.

woverboy your subs can still be spotted by aircraft even in silent mode(imho that should be corrected).Also if your sub happens to end its turn next to or in the same hex as ANY enemy ship it will be spotted no matter what mode.

SeaMonkey thats a tough one but a good idea. Ive also read that in 1929 German scientists new it was possible split an Atom.If Hitler had a different mindset(I realise if he had then there maynot have been a war like the world experienced)all those German scientists that left Germany because of Hitler might verywell have stayed and worked for him.Bad for us. SeaMonkey it will be real tough to build the type of game you want(but it sure would be neat) I think the funnest idea will be when we can have multi-players on the same side at the same time.Then you will see some REAL political madness.That will be fun.

John DIFOOL the 2nd how true that was and still is today.The Germans(Hitler) when they first started to re-arm never invisioned such opportunities and mistakes that the Allies made and would make that they could have taken atvantage of.Hindsite is 20/20.

teutonkopf I had read where the Germans had fitted some panther model Gs with advanced nite vision optics and they laid a beating on a bucnh of shermans.This happened around the time of the Bulge offensive.I guess this would be kind of hard to program?

Oh,come on Rambo,Where is the fun in that. SeaMonkey,I forgot to mention the most important one,As soon as Hitler marched into the Rhineland the Allies should have just stoodup to him and it would have been over.

SeaMonkey Imho as soon as the Russians saw what was up(Germans headed for Moscow)they would have either attacked into the flank(I do realise that A.G.south would have been on the defensive but they didnt have many tanks and thats where the Russians had most of their t34s and KV1s)or moved those troops to defend Moscow.That may or maynot have panicked Hitler(remember how he was worried about an attack right when the Germans could have easily taken Dunkirk)to change his mind and attack the Russians coming from the South and messing up his plans for Moscow.You are right in that trying to take Moscow was the right move. As far as the Early Allied mistakes: 1-concentrate all Allied tanks en-mass to attack the Germans when the broke through across the Meuse(Most if not all German tanks had no hope against the Matilda or the French Char1b).The small counter-attack they did launch was one of the reasons Hitler was worried about taking Dunkirk.He worried about an Allied counter-attack. 2-Our bone-head Prime minister for not starting the a pilot training program that would have made available by early to mid 1940 about 1000 to 1200 fighter pilots.I would like to see the Krauts try any Battle of Britain with an extra 1000 plus fighters in the air over England(remember England had the planes to fly but not enough Pilots). 3-Sending the B.E.F.and the British fighters to France was also stupid.France was done VERY early but because of the probable MAJOR political problems abandoning France would have caused they had to do it. 4-Russia keeping all her troops right along the Polish border instead of pulling back(where they had built a quite good defensive system)would have made much more sense.How could Stalin not forsee what would happen when he saw what Germany did to the Poles and the French. 5-Stalin ignoring his spys which told him when(late 1940)that Germany was going to attack them,plus Stalin knew by mid 1940 that Germany was doing her ut-most to increase the size of her Army. 6-Stalins purge of his officers.This was REAL stupid.

SeaMonkey that bit about Stalin joining with Hitler,It was true but can you imagine those two actually trusting eachother.Ill bet at the first chance they got one would for sure backstab the other. Fall Blau,Remember if the Germans had driven straight for Moscow that would have left all those 655.000 Russians at Kiev looking into the German flank.Who knows how they would have been used. We are all assuming that if the Germans dont make those early mistakes they yes things would have been WAY different.But what if the Allies didnt make their early mistakes.Then maybe the Axis dont even get as far as they did.

Lampcord,if Chamberlin remained in power then yes he may well have just sat back and let Germany and Russia beat the hell out of eachother but if Churchill came into power (he knew damwell what the Germans were up to) who knows what he would have done.If Germany did try to attack Russia right after Poland and Hitler still had his bonehead attitude then it would have been a long drawnout conflict(imho Germany would have lost).It would have changed the whole world in who knows what way.

Ive never played most of those games but from what I hear I wont.Even Third Reich could get a little long,but nothing like whats been described here.

Rambo the fact that you mentioned that we had to have the will,I think being put in an ashtray,being a slave would have been the desire and motivation to never give up. As far as Midway goes,a big part of why we won(not just that major battle)was we knew what they were going to do.Later on we knew what they going to do before their own Field commanders did.Its pretty tough to win when the otherside WAY outguns you and knows 99% of all your major moves before your own troops do. Where the Axis(Germany)had her chance was politically but Hitler messed that up big time. If what you think is true about the Axis having a chance then why isnt this game setup so the Allies have their true industrial might?Ultra and Majic arent included.Lets not forget Atomic bombs real effect.Oils real effect. The Battle of Britain could have been won but the Germans would still have to invade and the British navy would still be a huge threat.Remember it was going on into Sept.and the weather in the English channel would have be very unpredictable.The Germans may have been able to capture an airfield and start bringing in troops that way? I dont claim to be an expert(because im not)but I have read atleast a dozen books on this subject(various what ifs etc)and most if not all say the Axis still had prettywell no hope.

I cant see the Brits.and France just sitting doing nothing and if Germany tried to attack Russia after Poland there probably would have been revolt in Germany.Russia WAY out numbered and out gunned Germany in both tanks and Artty(not to mention Germany wasnt prepared or equiped to fight a war on such a huge front plus the Russian winter).By 1940 Russia already had around 6500 tanks and S.P.guns to Germanys 1800.Artty for Russia was around 33000 tubes to Germanys 7000.The only hope Germany had was if she attcked Russia she went in as a liberator not a butcher.Possibility of the Russians having another revolt(like in WW1).That of course would change everthing.Hitlers mindset made that impossible.

Like Rambo said,bombing Japans mpp life line(convoy ports,oil wells,etc)is a GREAT way to start the demise of the Japs.Plus if you get those bombers to level 5 in proper supply then they are just nasty at wrecking stuff. Bombing oil wells and mines are great because unless the Japs actually defend them(A.A.upgrades actual A.A. or with fighters) they dont cause any damage.You then get level 5,5star bombers.KABOOOOM.

Colin I thats a great idea but some of the what ifs are such huge gamebreakers that if one side gets one then its over.Russia joining Germany is one that comes to mind and from what I read it was quite possible.What about the Atomic bomb.The Axis had no real hope of getting one before we did and KABOOM the game is over if you put in its real effects. The''problem''is hindsight.We already know(unless some impending doom strikes)that the Allies will have America and Russia on their side so it makes things real tough to add in all the different political possibilties.That would also mean adding in Ultra and Majic(dont know how you would do that)plus the Allies overall industrial might.These things will prettywell end it for the Axis everytime.Im all for adding in new things but once you do that then you have to add something else to counter the last addition and it just goes on and on.It would be fun to try though.
