  1. Thanks Furchtlosundtrew, I suspected that might be what it meant , just wanted to make sure. As i have seen up to 3 reloads, im going to assume my opponent is trying for better results. Id say that is a little bit unfair but on the other hand, i do get the best game out of him that i can, i like a challenge.
  2. Hi, I play someone by email in Breakthrough and i notice when i go to load my turn it says Reloads - 0 most of the time but sometimes there will be another number, can anyone tell me what that means? Thanks.
  3. I have only downloaded the demo so far and played a turn or two myself. I did notice that scrolling is quite a chore and unit selection and moving is really slow. In previous games this was sometimes an issue but there was a video acceleration selection in the settings to fix this, is there anything like that in the full game? Bill.........
  4. Has anyone had this problem so far, ive had it with all versions of SC so far. I attempt to play an email game, I start a game, i save it, quit the game and go to the email folder to send the file off and voila, no files in that folder. I reload the game go to load multiplayer and lo and behold, the game shows up there, i can load it if i want but it does not show up in the folders on my hard drive. Well now with Global Conflict i had the same problem, i did a search of my hard drive which never resulted in any findings with Windows Vista but I am using Windows 7 now and a search did at last show the file ive been looking for. Funny thing is, its in a hidden folder (this is a rough path to it) C:/users/myname/appdata/local/virtualstore/program files/battlefront/globalconflict/multiplayer/email Im curious why it saves here when as far as i know the game is in c:/programfiles/battlefront/globalconflict/email etc. etc. Is there some way to stop this from happening and can anyone explain exactly what is happening, where did the virtualstore , appdata, etc. folders come from? Why are email game files saved in a hidden folder? Bill....................
  5. I love that you made rails a requirement, it makes certain areas of the map very strategic, i love cutting rail lines!
  6. If you can start operational movement from anywhere on a rail line why do you have to end it in or near a city? Just curious. Bill............
  7. Ive not played the game yet but i see in all the pics of it there seems to be just a whole bunch of little islands on the map. Is this always the result on a random map? I like islands but not so tiny and so many of them. Can a random map make larger land or is that only possible with a map someone has created. Bill..........
  8. I guess the whole thing is a trade off and a game decision that had to be made one way or the other. In reality the island had no chance of defeating the Japs if they wanted it bad enough, just too few Marines and no relief showing up. In the big picture of the game it probably makes not much difference, i only noticed because i served in the Marines and know the story well, of course it caught my eye. Kudos on a well done game overall, no real complaints. Semper FI
  9. Im no game designer by a long shot but i notice that Wake Island at the beginning is not garrisoned by a unit and the Japanese have an amphib transport in range and can take the island with no fight in the first turn. The real life marines at Wake put up a tough defense to the surprise of the Japanese and bloodied their nose before falling to a more concerted effort. I was wondering if it warrants maybe a weakened Marine unit or something to represent that or does it just not make a big difference in the big picture. William Overby
  10. Ive notice a curiosity in most SC2 games. When an amphib transport is adjacent to land most times i can just left click on the unit and it highlights the land spaces i can land on much like moving a land unit. Sometimes that does not work for no reason that i can see clearly. However, if you right click on this same unit and select unload from the dropdown menu , you are allowed to unload same as you should have been just by left clicking on the unit. Is this a bug or am i missing something that is preventing the left click? Thanks. As long as i can unload the unit its not a big deal, its just a curiosity i noted that i wondered if anyone had an answer for. Bill Overby (woverby1963@yahoo.com)
  11. The best i can figure subs raiding convoys is, i put the sub on a red line and if im not killed the corresponding country loses points. Sometimes it loses more than others. I dont know how to determine when more points will be lost, the max possible points i can destroy, etc. As i said the only understanding i have of it is, put a sub on the red line and it will hopefully destroy enemy points. Can anyone shed more light on the subject of convoy raiding? The fine points, requirements, etc. Thanks. Bill.......... (if you can, email to woverby1963@yahoo.com this is preferred for me)
  12. Hello there, maybe someone can help me out with this problem. I finally got the game working ok and am trying to play an email game but am having trouble finding the actual save file to send it to my opponent. When i am in the game menu and go to the load multiplayer menu the games are listed there and can be loaded but i have no idea where the file is on disk. I have looked in all the save, multiplayer folders in all the battlefront folders and no luck. Does the game possibly store the files somewhere else? Is there a settings menu that allows me to change the store folder? Thanks. Bill.............
  13. Thanks for the welcome, this game totally rocks. Ive loved WWII grand strategy games for a good many years. This is the first really playable and fairly comprehensive computer version ive seen and i really like it. I like the whole their intelligence vs yours for spotting and all, but i just dont like that my movement gets stopped by a non enemy. Cant it just let me know that i spotted a ship and continue my movement. Otherwise the game is awesome, i find myself sometimes playing way longer than i should have. Bill......
  14. This may sound dumb and obvious to lots of players but the whole sub mode thing still has me puzzled. I understand that if a sub is in hunt mode it can disrupt convoy routes. The silent setting is fuzzy to me, exactly what does that do? The manual doesnt do a good job for me of explaining exactly what it does. I had thought that maybe it made you invisible to enemy ships but i tried running the north sea with that mode going and was still picked up and attacked by enemy ships. Humor a still semi rookie with some explanations please. Thanks for the help. Bill.............
  15. And if it comes down to a decision one way or the other, Id much rather neutral countries be able to move their forces before being at war, it does prevent knowing exactly where things are as Mr Cater said.
