  1. Ahhhh..... now I understand it... maybe it gets too obvious that english isn`t my mother tongue. My interpretation of the sentence "There will be no patch to fix the "cd issue"." was completely wrong... sorry. I think you can delete the last 3 posts.
  2. Sorry, just to clarify: buyers of the german version don`t get any patches because the german distributor thinks we are to stupid to use a CD Copy programm? Well done...
  3. Basically I don`t mind paying good money for good games, but the timing was sh!t...
  4. Ordered my full version for 44,99 Euro on german Amazon.de last week..... got it yesterday. Guess what happened.. right, today it comes for 34,99!!! Basically I am willing to pay that for Huberts good work, but couldn`t they have done a bit earlier? Pls don`t get me wrong.. I think it deserves to be a full price product, but everyone who bought at 44,99 Euro now feels like getting a payload in the brown saloon.
  5. I think if you have all units upgraded and ready to start in march 41, it is a very good strategy... since there is a weather effect, one needs to carefully adjust the exact time to mount an assault... if you capture the Line Riga-Odessa, destroy their offense units and then go for the south path (fortify the north?), you might have good success, esp. when you are active in the Middle East... good alternative if the Egypt campaign goes well for the axis.
  6. @ Liam: yeah, that`s true. I do remember my difficulties in toasting the S35 in Blitzkrieg.. but the froggies made a severe mistakes in organising their tanks: they didn`t use them as separate groups as the germans did (Panzerdivison), they attached small groups to the infantry units.. so they could be destroyed one by one. The Froggies had another monster similar the early KV series.... called Char B1 bis, but they only had few (but seems to me like HT Lev 3 at least). Reference: http://www.panzerlexikon.de/
  7. I haven`t yet tested them, but I think they are very valuable on stalemate fronts... you can always pick a target out of many, and strike on it without loosing anything.
  8. Good point. Maybe the technology should be called "Advanced Tanks" and not Heavy Tanks.... On the other hand this is a stragetic game, and no single Tank group consist of 100% Tigers or Panthers... most bigger units had several different tanks in service. Basically one could say that the HT Level represent the "average weight" of a tank group...
  9. I think Hubert is 100% right in his decision, coz neither Königstiger nor IS3 where produced or used in numbers... just a few 100 Königstiger where produced, and they never saw major action except Ardennes Offensive, and most of them were abandoned due to technical difficulties. The Panther was the true Main Battle Tank... some 6000 where produced. Basically it is the same with IS3... it never saw real action in WW2. Of course T34/85 isn`t state of the art, but all others like KV85 and IS2 were not used in numbers.. for these reasons I think the current state is the best. When you play Königstigers in Computer games like Blitzkrieg RTS it is very good because it has no technical difficulties or runs out of fuel... but this is not realism.
  10. Okay... understood. Of course scenario number 2 is an interesting option.... in my eyes it makes it more difficult for the axis, but the more difficult, the more interesting. The best games I played in SC1 where such games where I was attacked early by Russia... makes the most fun. Establishing a defence line from Königsberg southwards to Romania with 10 Units is always somewhat complicated.... but if it works and the other units join later, it`s triple fun... or the Middle East/Caucasus option. Played that earlier with Panzer General... very good fun.
  11. Basically I agree that the location of Frankfurt is not really a problem.... and there are no major other cities in this area. Frankfurt is the 5th biggest city in Germany, and the RheinMain Metroplex area has some 3mio people living there... any other city in this area is way smaller. So I suggest to keep Frankfurt, but maybe it is worth considering to place it slightly more to the norteast. The isometric view is a bit strange anyway (this is no critic, it`s just the way it is!). Concerning the location of the mining area I would suggest to place it somewhere adjacent to Essen, south or southeast. In reality Essen and the whole Ruhr Metroplex area is a mixture of medium cities and Mining areas... and where exactly to place it is a matter of gameplay.... must not be too easy to reach for either french troop in 1940 or americans in 44/45. I would give you an exact hex number, but sitting at work I cannot start the game.... I will do that later this week at home.
  12. Basically the second alternative guarantees you a high amount of MPP pere turn... but early war entry with russia. I think most players gain more strength by a delayed russian war entry... you upgrade and resupply all units, and your MPP accounts is increasing while Russia and the USA get almost nothing. On the other hand Russia "burns" its good units on the east german border when you let them attack... and if you start a counterattack after this, they have nothing against it. I would go for alternative number 1, but include norway, coz it`s´easy just to capture Oslo, before the Allies do it. For Spain I would use diplomacy.... they have planes and ships, and with spain in the boot the axis is almost undefeatable.
  13. Anyway the name of the fortification isn`t too important... but the location of the mining area and the city is wrong..
  14. Up to now I just played the demo (very good, I will buy the full version!), so this question might be redundant in the full version. I wonder about the Germany map in the spring 40 campaign.... esp. the city of Frankfurt. It is very close to the Westwall (I wonder why it is called Siegfried Line; this is a WWI name for something completely different), and the location is everything but correct. The biggest problem is the Mining Area is northeast of Frankfurt... I live 50km northeast of Frankfurt, but their is no mining area.... this area should be close to the City of Essen where the big german coal mining area was during these times. Frankfurt should be more eastern and maybe slightly more north. If you need a City close the Westwall (for gameplay reasons or whatever), choose Stuttgart or Kaiserlautern instead... and pls move the mining area If I can help you with possible alternatives pls let me know, but this is definitely very far from reality.... and somewhat funny for the people who live there. Rgds
  15. Can I buy a localized german version via Battlefront? In this case I would prefer buying at Battlefront... coz it is "their" game.
  16. @ Sombra: I think the answer might be "when it`s ready" or similar... and I think if Hubert would know any date, he wouldn`t hesitate to tell us.

  18. Alrite, guys.. here comes a link to german wikipedia.. it is about a TV show about the "best" german. It is in german, but you will be able to identify the names. Rgds http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unsere_Besten
