  1. CALM DOWN! , The “Real Life” you speak of is just an illusion. You were meant to spend hours fighting pitched battles in cyber-space. Come lay on the couch and let out these counterfeit memories of this so-called “Real Life”. Play Two scenarios and visit the CM forum regularly and you’ll be cured of this false desire.
  2. The report I read, which was later was found to be incorrect, was that the Polish Army had known the Germans used canvas covered cars to simulate tanks during maneuvers, Therefore the Polish Calvary charged these units thinking they were mere mocked up vehicles. I also read that captured soldiers punched the armor of the German tanks to see for themselves if it was the real think. Again, I later read that these reports were false.
  3. In WWII, General Yamamoto, since he did understand the magnitude of the engagement and was reluctant to go to war. He was pretty accurate in his prewar assessment.
  4. I am playing a scenario where there a frozen river going under a bridge. I want to take my infantry and using the bank of the river as cover, go under the bridge. It looks as though I won’t be able to go under the bridge. Am I interpreting this correctly? I have not reached the bridge yet, but it would be a dissapointment if I can not go under the bridge.
  5. I had this game installed on another computer with Min Me os and I would browse and could alt tab between the CMBB and IE when trying to play an online opponent. Now I have a new computer with XP os and when I start CMBB it shuts down the IE window. Is there a setting to stop this?
  6. When you say quit, do you mean just stop sending turns? or do you mean surrender. I don't quit I'll surrender if the situation is desperate just so I can start a new game.
  7. If you HQ unit is in LOS of the taget and your mortar isn't, you will be able to target the enemy and get a yellow line. If your HQ and mortar don't have an LOS you will get a red line to the target and the mortar will not fire.
  8. I use shift "V" then I can just pick what I want.
  9. Thank, For some reason I thought I would see the Game screen in the background. I thought that is what it did on the old computer. Thanks Again.
  10. I am getting a black screen with a white dialog box (for initial set up) stating the resolution and mhz w/ an (accept or skip) to the next option. I cycle through all the presented options and all of them are black with the white dialog box. Then it comes up with an error.
  11. New Computer W/intergrated nVidia geforce 4 64 mb agp. I am getting a black screen with all the resolution selection options This happens with both CMBB and CMBO Do I have to make special setting? [ May 21, 2005, 05:09 AM: Message edited by: chiavarm ]
  12. I have captured as many as 35 against AI. they were crews and units but All were pretty well depleted in numbers.
  13. I would be interested in participating if I could play PBEM. I prefer TCP/IP, but I can only commit to a PBEM game.
  14. Two of my three AFVs were immobilized. Both of them were moving FAST at the time. One on open ground and one on a road. Conditions were clear and damp. I remmemder in Squad Leader, if you moved the afv its full allotted movement, you had to roll the dice to see if it would breakdown. I imagine CM incorperated this into the series.
  15. This is my general consensus of the early German success: From my reading, while the Russians had a huge number of tanks many were outdated and the relatively few new models only a quarter of them were operational. The purges left commanders timid and unsure of themselves, so as not to under perform or over perform. Avoid a great loss. Do not become popular to draw the wrath of Stalin The factories were pressed to produce numbers of parts and quality suffered. During the First World War soldiers were fed up and just left the trenches and went home. During the Civil War, coercion was used on the communities to participate. Their Civil War was unlike that of the US, in that the combatants were willing to fight for the cause. In Russia they were apathetic. A common recruiting method was to ask for recruits. If none volunteered, Shoot someone! Ask again, if none Shoot ten! Repeat if necessary. The Bolsheviks, the ruling party, were not in power by popular public sentiment, but by force and slight of hand. I am sure the common soldier was weary of combat before hostilities broke out between Russia and Germany. The original placement of the Russian units allowed them to be gobbled up whole. The Germans on the other hand knocked out the Russian Air Force, so they had air superiority. While Germans had a numerical disadvantage of armor, they had experience and the ability to have the right number of tanks they needed at the right time. Hitler had every reason to be confident. His generals had painted bleak pictures in the past and the German forces came shined through. All this led to the early success of the Germans in Russia.
  16. I think it has to do more with the road wheels of a tank trying to lift afore mentioned tank over a rail. Road wheels are designed to displace the weight of the tank over a larger area. This would seem more difficult when crossing RR tracks at a perpendicular angle.
  17. The Flamethrower was in a building. The infantry unit could not be targeted directly, so I did an area fire right next to him. My Flamethrower fired once then he was dead. Don't know who took him out. Thought if I could shoot then hide, then he (flamethrower) would survive.
  18. Is there a way to Fire then hide? I resently lost a Flamethrower unit when I targeted a unit. What I wanted was for the unit to fire then hide. Could I have target the opposing infantry, press the pause, then hide to get the effect I desired?
  19. It does have an AGP slot, but, that will have to be a future purchase. Thanks
