  2. Nice to see Rambo getting out played but we'll see how the USSR holds out. On the other hand, he has to divert a lot of resources to gaurd his underbelly as that is where the next blow is coming. Mainland UK is not needed as the South can now be hit. UK can't afford to give up Med and give Germany time to mess with the USSR. UK must make a stand in the Med.
  3. If two parties agree to house rules or any other arrangements, no need to comment on it trying to justify one's ego. For right now without a patch, the consensus of the uber majority of experienced SC players agree to this. No need to argue and wail against this point ad naseum. What is important, is for the community giving very important feedback at the same time. No single player has the verbata monopoly or the wise dictum for this game except for Hubert and he is being very humble about it. Finis
  4. I have tried giving 9999 MPP each to USA and USSR plus max out their industrial and production techs. Slow moving in Russia and the AI actually upgrades over time.

  6. Yep, I think scripting is the key as Germany fell in September of 44. But also for the AI to recognize tough terrain/defenses to avoid or to mass firepower on those areas. Or to hit weaker areas of the defenses. The AI did amass a good sub fleet in the Atlantic but did not put it to good use. Also, the AI did not struggle for NA inspite of having massive numerical superiority. I do agree with you wholeheartedly that infusing the AI with this massive MPP does not help the AI.
  7. Still holding the line in USSR but Axis air power ( I think they have 20 combined fleets or so) pummeling the heck out of me.) Took Syrai but Iraq went ape & native on me. USA joined in June of 42 and having increaesd MPPs alows me to stay alive for the moment. AI is inactive in NA and did not put an effort. He is focused on taking Malta. I can't afford a slugfest in USSR so I have to be very patient and pick my targets. Hubert should boost MPP production for AI depending on difficulty level (Blashy, please be quiet about the editor There should be smarter AI follow through in trying to do breakthroughs especially with armor.
  8. I have given Germany and Italy's AI an initial 9999 MPP boost each in the 1939 scenario. We are now at the end of 1941 and I was able to hold the line in the USSR and using tanks for peeling off his units until I can get stronger for encirclements. NA is strictly British although Malta is taking an air beating. I know that the AI is being patched but it is good to see how far you can go giving the AI such a boost. I will probably win this game.
  9. I see egos are getting bruised here on this particular issue that I raised originally. No sweat for right now as opponents can agree on house rules regardless of forum input. It is up to Hubert finally if he sees fit to change this (hopefully) as I see it broken either playing against the AI or a human opponent. Lets get a Terif-Bashy bashing going!
  10. Played as allies on expert level and gave computer +2. France went down as expected but UK was able to take NA from Italians. Rearranged USSR forces deeper into Russia and formed defensive lines and invested in inf/AT/tank/AF techs. I was even able to launch an early D-day by the US in late 43. The AI strikes at weakened units in force which is very good. But tweaking is still needed as the level I was playing at should be near impossible to win.
  11. The topic Edwin is using neutral transports as spotters/blokaders. Not worth going into the Baltic as that is usually blocked in at the Copenhagen port.
  12. In line with my earlier comment about amphibs, the allies can easily use US transports to spot subs and hem in other ships. Or the Italians vice-versa especially in 1939. One solution is to not allow US/USSR/Italy to amphib/transport before activitation. Another solution is to script axis/allies neutrals to view the action as hostile and get them closer to ther alliance. Another solution is just ot have Italy, USSR, USA, inactive before activitation. Or another solution is to lessen (which I think is best), scripting any amphib/transport by major neutrals would lead them to lose influence points towards their alliance. As the US isolationist movement before war-entry would definitely gain strength by this action
  13. Gooooly! This thread has mutated and then some. Hubert does not want to get overwhelmed with comments and input if the AARs are done, that I am assuming. I remembered when SC first came out and it had a lot of holes but it got better as he took in comments from dedicated players. I was the first one to point out in the forum how the allies can headcrack the axis by disbanding their naval forces. Hubert took this gamey play out in his next patch. But I guess that was then and he has new rules to play by. But like I said, this is really tiring!

  15. Shucks - I upgraded it to ver 1.1 now I get illegal vocplay, illegal cos2, illegal resi and it would not go in dosbox. Tried restoring but still the same. Any ideas? Also treid saving earlier and the game crashed.

  17. Can anyone give me a step by step process how I can install COS? It is compressed in ARJ format I guess and I downloaded the arj program. I can't get it up and running on my winxp machine. Thanks.
  18. Does anyone know how to buy a fully workable COS version that can be windowed in winXP? I know it worked before in dos mode in win95 - heck might even pick-up a cheap laptop just to play the game!
  19. Hubert, Thanks for the overview of top-secret screenies. Looks very good and hopefully, the editor/game is fully flexible so as to put in your own terrain graphics.
  20. Enough of trolling these forums! Huberts should release the betas to do strict AARs with no option to answer questions if he is worried about revealing kinks. What's so hard about this? At least we can glimpse game mechanics - instead of posting one thousand new topics I wish for that... I wish for this... Anyone with the same sentiments? I expect to be flogged now and let the hanging begin!
