  1. That is in the exact shape of the bride photoshoped out of the original photo. I didn't notice it the first time I looked at the picture, but when you pointed it out, it's clear as day!

  3. I am also an Onion Wars player, as well as a previous RoW participant. I hope my potential participation in RoW VI-CMC is on the merits of my RoW V performance, and doesn't end up taking a space away from other Onion War players! Also, if anyone cares, you can get a CMC like experience right now in the Onion Wars campaign. Check it out! Onion Wars
  4. Put me on the list, please! I've only participated in one RoW so far, but faired well and kept up my end of the bargain. I'd love to be involved in the RoW:CMC!
  5. CM:X1 is no where near end of life. We've got CMC coming out which will add an entire new layer of game play to CM:BB, and will hopefully shortly be followed by CMC for CM:AK. Software products tend to be opened only after their commercial value has trended to $0. CM is no where near that point for Battlefront yet. Maybe another 5 years or so, maybe 10 when CM and Windows are as far out of date as all the DOS based games are now.
  6. Could you imagine being one of the guys having to ride a T-34 with the amount of oil it must have been burning, based on the last article? That would be the many hells of war, I think.
  7. Speaking of which, how do you actually find SturmTigers in the editor? I've looked around for them (admittedly not extensively) and can't find them. Can someone give me an editor region and date where they available? Thanks in advance!
  8. Kingfish Any chance that you or one of the organisers could publish the entire list of passwords used for all the RoWV battles? I've saved all my turns, and I was thinking it'd be fun to check out all the battles from my opponents' point of view. I could publish half of them, but it'd be nice to have a full list of them on 'permanent' record sanctioned by the oragnisers. Cheers!
  9. Hi, Great game so far, but I'm wondering how you can switch to firing HE ammo rather than AP. I read the manual and didn't see anything about it, and there doesn't seem to be a bound key for it. Any pointers? Also, there's talk of infantry in the manual, but is there actually going to be infantry units in the game?
  10. It can't hold a candle to the creativity expressed in BigDuke6's first round AARs, but thank you! It's a testament to the quality of Richie's "Tiger Valley" scenario that it was so much fun to write.
  11. Ahem... Wow! After seeing the photos of Richie's stunning work on the T-34, this is a great honour indeed. I'm completely blown away! Thanks to everyone who had a hand in making this tournament a reality. It's been a blast from day one.
  12. We are getting very close to selecting the best AAR for the ROW V Finals. Ace </font>
  13. Any chance of getting an update on that status of judging the second round AARs? I think we should be well past the deadline for submitting new ones by now. What's up?
  14. They are invaluable if you find yourself fighting fanatic troops. I played a Tobruk operation where a platoon of fanatic Aussies were holed up in a patch of rough terrain. I could supress them with HE and MGs, but I couldn't kill them. Flamers to the rescue! There's nothing fanatic Aussies hate more than a flamer or two.
  15. The older thread mentioned that it was a different production run or production moved to a different factory or something. Same model, just a way to distinguish the two.
  16. I'm certain that a large portion of the beta testing will have very little to do with game play, and tonnes to do with testing that the program doesn't allow the human players to do strange things with the interface that breaks the game and causes a crash to desktop or other "unexpected" results. The beta testers will be spending hours just clicking buttons and scrolling around the CMC operational map, just checking to make sure that some interger value somewhere in the program doesn't overflow and crash the game. Then they'll be spending hours upon hours punching data into every data entry field that is visible in the campaign editor. If the beta testers are good, they'll dream up absolutely bizarre, "broken" scenarios and try to punch them into the game, to see if it accepts them or not. The worst thing for a software product to do is allow a user to get it into a state it doesn't know what to do with and can't recover from. How about adding a platoon to the OOB, then deleting it, then adding it again, then deleting it, then adding it, then deleting it, ad nauseum. If there's some kind of a memory leak or something in the program, this is the kind of stuff you have to do to find it. Lots of fun. Screen resizing... what happens when you alt-tab away from the game, change your screen resolution and then come back to the game? How about importing maps? Only a human being can reasonably say that the operational CMC approximation of their map is a good one or not. You need a lot of maps to test even a small portion of the possibilities. Only after that's all done and declared "clean" will they be looking at battle results from human played CMBB battles and the auto-resolver. I think it'll still be quite some time before the beta testers are even coming close to playing an actual battle.
  17. With C he means Hollow Charge, which still in CMBO days was marked with that letter (the article is written for CMBO). In later games that would be HC. </font>
  18. Nice piece, but the stuff about C (cannister) rounds being useful against hard targets is incorrect. They are devastating against infantry to ranges of about 100m, though, with their shotgun like effect.
  19. What would the purpose of that be when there is no Linux version of CMBB? </font>
  20. Let's hope that 2006 will finally see the end of RoW V...
  21. Drat! My arch-nemesis has bested me yet again!
