  1. Hi All, I've uploaded a new battle over to TPG for playtesting a few days ago, it's a small fixed 25 turn scarp. It's a rescue attempt of german KG Reich units trying to save cut off units of this KG. It takes place in the late winter of 1942. I appreciate the playtest by Simovitch and Junk2drive, tho they both seem to have some trouble with it, this is why I'm posting this here, I thought it was a fairly easy battle, every time I played it, I always got around a 70% win, so I'm rather puzzled with the results from those two playtests. I'd be interested in some other points of view on this critter, if anyone could take a look at it sometime, I'd appreciate it. I'd suggest that you don't give the allies any CEB, that could've been the biggest problem with J2D and Simovitchs playtest.
  2. No, you was right the first time, for some strange reason everything was camo'ed on that gun from the original artwork but the shield. That screenie of yours looks like the BTS's original gun artwork shipped with cmbb and cmak. At least it had some camo on it, they didn't camo the flak gun at all, but I guess they didn't do that for any of the game versions. That screw-up you had did look like you had artwork for a breech block mechanism numbered for the same number as the shield before.
  3. Whoop's I forgot that first digit one, I was screwing around with some BO stuff yesterday and that kind of frigged up my mind set a bit. It is a bit odd that BTS included an unfinished unit like that in the game, it would've looked very nice had the shield been done as the rest of it.
  4. Something very odd about that shield and I don't mean the wrong BMP, the summer number for that BMP is 3289, I think likely 3287 through to 3291 are at least some of the BMP's for this gun.
  5. I was working on this little battle of mine, when I noticed in a playtest that all the pixel grunts are standing to rigid attention and will not kneel down, this is happening with axis and allied infantry. Even reinforcements arriving in halftracks are standing. You should see them moving, it gives a whole new meaning to the monster dance, it's a good chuckle.
  6. If you don't like any of the mods that have been done by the extremely talentled modders that have done the stuff they have done for cmbb and cmak, then don't install them in your games. Also if you don't appreciate how lucky we where and are to have them around, just keep spouting off with this kind of unappreciative dribble. Again if ya don't like whats around maybe you should shut your pie whole and make your own blinking mods, then maybe you'd understand and appreciate the quirky limits of the game engine in this regard.
  7. Then that must make me a Don Rickles of modders. And it's a impressive looking mod job, you hockey puck you.
  8. I appreciate your comments painfbat, It's nice to know to someone finds it's useful on their CM battlefields.
  9. Just to let anyone interested know I just uploaded the HT, with some tweaking it only looks just a tad different then the above screenie. Also as some of ya may have noticed I did upload the above final PzIV with a different turret skirt camo pattern.
  10. Well there appears to be two different things being touched on here one is the transfer type version AGP setup and whether your getting proper voltage to the AGP slot on the motherboard and the other is the placement of the slot on the motherboard and how open it is around it plus also the room around the motherboard in the case. Really the AGP version whether 1, 2 or 3 is the transfer ablity of data on the AGP bus. One of the simplest ways to look at it is if I can remember correctly is that version 1 supported 1x and 2x transfer rates while AGP v2 supported that plus the 4x transfer rate and finally v3 supported those three and the 8x transfer rate. What they're likely referring to is whether the manufacture took a cheap route and is feeding bad voltage to the AGP slot, I would think with an Abit motherboard especially with a nVidia chipset on it, you shouldn't have to worry about that. From what I can see this motherboard has a version 3 AGP setup on it, and it looks clean around the slot for obstructions and I'm willing to bet you that the AGP slot is very much with in spec regarding good voltages to the slot.
  11. I was playing around with this gelb spw251/1, /17 earlier, had the side and top more or less done in this look, forgot about it until I run into it playing a battle. I may tinker with a little more but should upload it in another day or so. Below added in edit. Also here is what that /17 model really looks like and what it's purpose is, http://www.leadwarrior.com/Lw35015h.htm [ October 21, 2005, 06:09 AM: Message edited by: DEY ]
  12. Okay it's uploaded for anyone interested, I hope it's not to much of a disappointment. Actually David ya had the Model version wrong also. I could have a look at those AC's in the near future Pat, but it's very likley you could do them better then me. I'm very unhappy with that 222 & 223, there was a mega problem from sorta glaring bright spots showing up on them, anyway, I just didn't feel up to fighting with them anymore at the moment.
  13. I'm a hell of a lot older then the day I was born, but still too damn young to get the OAS. According to the Geneva Convention I only have to give name, rank and serial number. http://www.unhchr.ch/html/menu3/b/91.htm
  14. I've been playing around with a camo look for this AFV, I'm not quite sure if I'll do much more with it or not. Being that it'll be in direct competition with MikeyD's own excellent camo job, it'll likely be of very little interest too the community. [ October 20, 2005, 10:13 AM: Message edited by: DEY ]
  15. Hi Vossie, long time no see, though it appears ya been busy while you've been absent. That UI stuff looks very interesting.
  16. Just to let anyone know that may be interested, I just confirmed that the converted cmak JagdpanzerIV I made for cmbb does indeed work as is in cmbo, as I thought the BO hardcoded AFV is one and the same for BO and BB. If your interested in a new look for this AFV and trying out this mod it's in the cmbb section at cmmods.
  17. Ah ya, that appears to be misinformantion on my part though I have read quite a few times where titanium and tungsten seem to be very interwine, because of that I had thought maybe that a inner core was titanium. Also that the soviet union had a lot to do with german amount of tungsten ammo, maybe this wolfram element is very common in the soviet union, I know most of the worlds titanium is. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tungsten Here is somemore info on this little john attachment. The US Locust airborne tank used the Little John attachment to extend the useful life of its already obsolete 37 mm gun. Locust tanks were deployed in the Rhine crossings and before. Quoted from here, http://miniatures.de/html/int/shells-american.html Though the below link only comments on the brits using this device. http://www.robertsarmory.com/m22.htm
  18. Battlefront has not made public any of it's coding for combat mission so there will never be any kind of program such as you request, unless BFC makes such a thing. There has been many dicussions on ammo type penetrations on these forums, try the search feature. I have to agree with you somewhat, there does seem to be something somewhat skewed and leaning in favour of the anglo-american forces in cmbo and somewhat in cmak. I know one of the reasons I stopped playing BO was becuase the germans just didn't seem to have a chance at all unless they where equipped with KT's or Jagdpanthers, everthing else just seemed to be cannon fodder for the allied tank guns. But that seemed to be as much due to lackluster performance of the german tank crews in cmbo as much as of the ammo penetrations. I also have read what may be a bit of confusion on the penetration ablitly of the American 37mm gun, from what I've seen is that if the L53 m2 37mm gun was equipped with something called a " British Little John squeeze bore attachment" it could with A.P.S.V ammo penetrate 97mm at 100 yards. Maybe if someone has some info on this they could post it. The Germans only had so much titanium on hand and when they started to get pushed out of the soviet union they lost that raw material, so tungsten ammo starts to get quite scarce starting in 1944.
  19. Good god boy, maybe ya should get your eyes checked sometime, you just state that your downloading mods from cmmods and just about every scenario ever made up to a few months ago has been packaged up in zip files and posted there. More recent ones in beta form can be got from www.the-proving-grounds.com ,maybe you could be a good sport and playtest some of those battles for the authors while your at it also. There should be another main site to post and download finished scenarios in the very near future.
  20. After about two other attempts to convert BFC's cmak Jagdpanzer4 artwork over to cmbb, I finally stuck in there and seen this last try through to the end this time. I hope they maybe of some use to the community. I don't have cmbo installed anymore, but you should also be able to drop these right into the cmbo bmp folder and use them as is, maybe someone with BO could test that. I may have missed or overlooked something, if anything looks wrong let me know.
  21. Maybe while their at it they could drop by your place and install them for ya and make supper and wash the dishes. Christ you should try and mod something sometime and maybe you might appreciate how much work is involved in just that alone. My suggestion is to you, is to get onto your lazy ass and start doing some work.
  22. Hello, Hello is anyone there, for the few who would be interested I uploaded whitewashed versions of MikeyD's excellent Grau PzIII-J's artwork yesterday. It would appear that BB and Ak is going to be getting many more years of usage, I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for any new WWII based stuff from this outfit anytime soon.
  23. Here is a couple of links for ya, it's more then likely you may have this info, but maybe the half dozen other people left around don't. http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/navy/docs/fun/part13.htm http://groups.google.com/group/sci.military/browse_thread/thread/46a6b3fc9f1b2489/057fcfe3f1caf204?lnk=st&q=group:sci.military+insubject:charges+insubject:shaped+insubject:solid+au thor:Jim+author:Calpin&rnum=1#057fcfe3f1caf204
  24. I've been trying to see if I could somehow improve those later war winterized PzIV's I've made recently, like that would be real hard considering how bad they are. I've pretty much completed a new version of the G and H model. Hopefully these are better looking, I'm not sure whether to delete the other ones or upload these as a second choice. Below added in edit, New G, H and J models posted as a version-B, use, abuse or ignore them, what ever floats your boat. [ September 29, 2005, 03:39 PM: Message edited by: DEY ]
  25. Thats rock solid advice and suggestion by Philippe. Also for the 37mm and 20mm quad, with along some excellent artwork for the Flaktracks for cmbo, cmbb and cmak, you should grab these babies by Marco Bergman and Gordon Molek. http://www.combatmission.com/mods/newmods_page2.html
