  1. Like dieseltaylor said, even if the turret armor is thinner/has lesser slope it's still better to be in a hulldown position because it decreases hit probability. That's what I always do.
  2. True, if there is little cover and the map is small flanking is pretty pointless. On the other hand if the map is huge and you're playing with armor you need to flank (as you said yourself)to kill the German uber tanks and Valentines (if you're playing as Italians). The other advantage of flanking is that you can surround the enemy, then (you probably have numerical superioryty) the enemy can stay and get slaughtered or run away. But not move to get flank shots at my tanks etc. My 2 cents.
  3. I have a stupid question. When you flank (say on a pretty flat field with littl cover) do you just simply attack on one side of the battlefield or do you kind of go to the left (if flanking on the left side) and then to the right? Flanking on a battlefield with hills and good cover is diffrent thought. Discuss.
  4. My internet is sloooooooooow. It takes me like 24 to 35 seconds to download the BFC website. I'm guessing that the reason is that I don't have any drivers installed. That's because I have windows xp 64bit beta and when I inserted the driver CD it said that I can't install. So maybe there are some 64 bit drivers. I looked at the AMD website but they don't have any there. Please help.
  5. Yo Blah how close were your troops to the enemy? When the got close were your mg42 still shooting at the enemy? If so, your own mgs might have killed your troops.
  6. Does CM work with linux? What about Strategic Command, TacOps, Modern Naval Battles WW2 @ Sea and Down in Flames? I've always thought about trying out linux, but what stopped me is that I don't think most games support it.
  7. Ok thanks for the info, Brondum had me a little scared lol. P.S. I plan to use Windows XP 64bit Beta, will I have any problems with CM u sing that?
  8. I also don't play Doom3 and I'm waiting for half life2. I'm getting X800pro for my new comp instead of the nVidia 6800ultra because it's cheaper and the GPU runs faster.
  9. Oh crap, I'm getting a 64bit system since my old one is broken. Schrullenhaft u think it's the driver's fault right? I plan to get an X800pro so will I have the same problem too?
  10. Wouldn't it be nice if you could have fog with an ATI card in CMX2?
  11. Are u sure 75% of GIs didn't shoot to kill the enemy? That could explain all my lost battles in CM lol . And by not shooting to kill do you mean a guy is running across the field and u don't kill him on purpose or that they shot in the general location of the enemy, not really to kill but to keep their heads down so that sumone else can get in close?
  12. Very good model. P.S. The instructions are in Polish not Russian. I can translate if anyone wants them in English.
  13. I downloaded a battle called "A Polish Battlefield" from Scenario Depot and when I tried to play it it wouldn't show up on the list of battles. When I attempted to open it in the editor a window poped up that said that I need to update to a new version to use this file. I'm using the 1.01 patch. Does any body have the same problem with this or any other battle?
  14. Really? I've never noticed that.
  15. I run the test program Schrullenhaft. When I tested each stick separatly there were no errors. When I tested the 512MB stick and the 256MB stick together there were no errors. When I tested all the sticks together there was around 70000 errors. I noticed one other thing though, the 256MB sticks run at around 450 MB/s and the 512MB stick runs at 596 MB/s. Maybe thats the problem since the memory isn't coordinated or sumfink? P.S. Thanks for the link.
  16. I'm no expert but I think that your processor is too slow. CMBB requires 500Mhz processor and yours is 450Mhz.
  17. Thanks a lot Dandelion. Such a scenario pack would be an invaluable piece of CM learning material.
  18. Did anybody ever make a scenario pack that teaches u all the basic armor , infantry and combined arms tactics that a company/platoon commander would learn in basic training? If so can u post a link? If not can someone who knows these tactics make one? Pretty please with HE on top of it?
  19. Real modding. And building with more than 2 levels, a basement level, and rooftops on which infantry can walk and choppers can land
  20. I'm running Windows XP. I got a stronger power supply but that's not helping. P.S. I think u were right about my system not liking 2 sided memory, Schrullenhaft. I think the OS is at fault, not the hardware because , when the comp boots up it sais that I have 1 gig , but when I press Alt+Ctrl+Del and click on the "performance" tab it sais that my total memory is 1 gig but the accesible memory is 785 MB (or sumfink). Is it because maybe XP thinks that the 512 MB stick has only 1 side or sumfink?
  21. Fog support for Radeon cards. Vehicles crashing into each other. And tanks have to be heavier than the wreck they're pushing off the road so that u can make a roadblock in an ambush.
  22. It runs fine with just 2 sticks. When the computer boots up , on the first screen that dislplays the comp's status (memory, ide devices, etc.) it sais "Award Winning BIOS v6.00PG , Energy star ally , yada yada yada....... The mainboard version is 1.0b No. In the mainboard manual it sais that it can only support 2 PC333 sticks , but I'm using PC266 sticks , and it sais that the mainboard can support 1.5 gigs of that and the only way to have that is to put a 512 MB stick in each slot. The 512 MB DDR DIMM has microchips on both sides. So u think that the mainboard thinks that there are actualy 4 sticks not three? The maunual doesn't say anything abaut that tho. The chipset is a SiS745. So Schrullenhaft , do u think the culprit is a weak power supply? Nothing else really makes sense IMO. I don't want to buy a new power supply if this one is OK , so what do u think?
  23. 1. Being able to see the map in a QB before purchasing units. 2. Make CMX2 cover all WW2 theaters and put it on 1 huge DVD. 3. Horses!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 4. Fortified infantry fighting positions (whatever) that infantry can go into. It's basicaly like a "pillbox" only infantry can "embark" it and fight from there. There they are protected from enemy fire. They also pick up ammunition and grenades or AT weapons. 5. Allow player to controll airplanes. 6. Make trenches 3D so they are an actual hole in the ground. Same for foxholes. yeah...
