  1. Lastly to save some confusion...   "Revisited"  will be the title I put back into the Scenario Depot, not exactly sure how it got deleted in the first place unless they did not carry it over from the previous site.  No worries will get it done this week.  Panzer Pajamas did a great review of  it, in which you can watch his extraordinary video on youtube.

    Cheers

  2. Hello everyone,

My version 2016 is completely different than the stock 'Barkmann's Corner"  I went to great lengths to find documentation on the subject and the exact place where it "Most Likely" took place.  Looked through many forums, books from both sides.  Most of the details are actually in the notes section of the scenario if interested and the sites I went to.... might have included the books as well, cant remember.

I will be posting it again in CMMODS III when I get home... Wednesday or Thursday this week.  For those interested you can give the Allies another plan if you want, but as is it is challenging enough I think... but for more complexity this is something you can do if you want.  Again, I basically went with what Barkmann said he had encountered, although I basically already added a second platoon of Shermans just to make it more challenging.  But realistically Barkmann probably encountered scouts, logistical vehicles and probably one element of Sherman's most likely one platoon.  The Allies thought most likely they were up against a hidden ATG.... anyways I will post it again this week, or hopefully you can get it from JoMC67 who has been kind enough to make it available.

    Cheers,

I think, Steve, mentioned that Huns & Romanian Forces won't be included, but still might get 'Partisans'.

Why would they not include at least the Hungarians.  Especially for late war?  Budapest was one of the bloodiest urban fights in WWII.  I think they called it the Soviet Stalingrad..  Sounds like they are have too much on their plate and giving up on Combat Mission WWII era.  In fact pretty sure they will not even go as far as early war stuff as talked about but come up with something else.  Been waiting for RT module for how many years now?  Small team  I get it but damn...  I will be 60 LOL by the time we see some more stuff.

In hindsight I should have known that RT was Red Thunder.  I don't have Red Thunder.  Thanks for the replies.  Since Red Thunder covers the last year of the war I would be  more interested in the earlier years of the eastern front.  I am surprised Battlefront isn't working on that or a North African game like they had in the original Combat Mission series.  However, I am very much looking forward to Rome to Victory.  In my opinion, the current Combat Mission series is the gold standard for computer tactical warfare.

Looking forward to the end of RT, I am sure it would come with Hungarian maybe Romanian forces as well as Waffen SS.... Partisans would be cool.  However by GOD I would love early Russia as well so we could see battles like this unfold... or change?     https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Raseiniai

This would be cool as they would technically have all the elements to reverse back to the start after the last RT module.... you could then use all the German Allies etc for the beginning of the war just changing the TOE... which we know is a pain.. probably.

  5. Blasted Vineyards!  Just found out the hard way... they do tear up the tracks just like going through low walls, but worse I think. Definitely need engineers or breach teams if your going to move vehicles through those bloody things.  Good to know about chaining your demo charges.

  6. I talked to some of my friends who dabble in reenacting and such.  They said that Tropical uniforms would have been issued to semi-permanent forces in that theater, or those that had been established in that Theater for some time.  They also said that the Divisions inbound to the Italian Theater would not have been issued the Tropical gear, with exception to units stationed or assigned to North Africa, Southern France, Italian, Greek  regions.  The uniform changed a bit,  by mid 1941 they did away with the twill and substituted it for Cotton, these uniforms were slightly greenish in color and faded to sage green brown of sorts (The twill tropical)  Luftwaffe tropical were more yellowish Khaki in color and were vastly different from the Heer Tropical.  As far as camouflage in the Italian theater they would of had access to Italian camo and Heer standard. I guess someone would have to look at Divisional photo's or records to see if the inbound Divisions would have been issued Tropical.  My guess is probably not if they were rapidly deployed.  Perhaps some of the units could have picked up Tropical Uniforms if they had stores of them in supply.  So maybe mixed??  Not sure this was just a simple discussion with a friend over the phone.

  7. Hopefully this question wont be ridiculous.   I have only played a couple of the Campaigns and then decided to do quick battles with a buddy.  Noticed there was Northern Italy and Waffen SS selections but you can not select them.  Is this in preparation basically for the upcoming addition of Rome to Victory.... LOL I really wanted to fight in Northern Italy.  Just thought it was weird seeing the selections.  It was like getting slapped on the wrist!  NO... you cant go there.. LOL

  8. So  I checked out the mods section for Black Sea, and there are hardly any vehicle mods at all.  I think there are two.  I did notice the other mods available and am using them.  I have found lots of images depicting T-90 in camouflage pattern as well as many of their other vehicles.  Are there mods out there but not on the CMODS III page?  Just seemed odd there are virtually no vehicle mods at all for any of the 3 Nations thus far.

    Best regards

I may be wrong about this but i think it will be up to the scenario designer himself to post the - finished - scenario to TSDIII when he consider himself to have made the final version of the scenario."

Ok I was always curious about that.  I will check later, thanks.

  10. So I uploaded a Scenario "Barkmann’s Corner Revisited" back in December of 2016 onto TPG II where it gets tested to see I guess if its worthy to be added to The Scenario Depot III.  Is this something the Admin does, or do the Scenario designers do this?  I was just figuring if no one really knows or looks at the TPGII because they are getting all the mods, Scenario's and Campaigns from TSD III then the people who upload to TPGII will sort of get left in the dust.  Its difficult enough because there really is no feedback when creating them, which supposedly TPGII was to fix but nothing has really changed in that there is not that much feedback.

Thankfully we have YouTube... anyways I was just curious as too the process of moving scenarios from TPGII to TSDIII.  I would just hate to take the  time creating scenarios if they never get looked at or never transferred to the main area where the majority of the community take their mods and scenarios from.

Finally played this one last night and had a great time. What an amazing frenzy of trying to stop the allied wave of tanks! This is much better than the original. I studied the real battle (if it even happened) as well and I am glad to see someone made a proper map of the historical position that this occurred (again, if it did).

    Total victory on Iron mode.

My only gripe is there is only one AI plan. This map needs to be played several times and more AI plans would be so nice.

    IMG_2550.JPG

Thank you for posting Lanzfeld.  I first wanted to make sure that this version was good enough before I did another revision.  When I get back into town, I will add another AI plan.  One of the reasons I did not was supposedly the area where this took place was ideal for ambush, as described by E. Barkmann in that the Allied vehicles only had a couple options which was the main road, where much of the devastation took place, and an area not really described where the Allies supposedly tried to flank Barkmann, but were caught out in the open.  I will also make another objective for Barkmann to occupy the village of Neufbourg, where he rested for the night. (Probably a Bonus objective)

  12. I was just thinking that someone mentioned the Italian Theater is next in line for adding new content.  But I was thinking what else can they add really?  I would have thought that after finishing CM Blitzkrieg they would move directly to RT.. as the German Buildings and such would be completed as well as end game German equipment, and the only thing to really add would be Russian Equipment pretty much as well as Russian Allied forces, and for the Germans Hungarian, maybe Romanian but I thought they capitulated pretty quick.

Well, all good then I will take it tomorrow I already download some nice mods to try once I played a little.

For the WEGO I agree, on the demo for the first mission that's really not hard to play on real time but for the second mission ... well ... it's difficult to folow everything

First off welcome to the BF family.  I have been playing their games since 2000, and I have to say the games have gotten better and better.

WEGO is the only way I play unless its a really small scenario with limited types of units.

You will find a ton of scenarios and extra Campaigns by the links GerryCMBB already listed.  The Mods are awesome, and there are a lot of kick ass Campaigns and Scenarios for Red Thunder.  Mods are easy check this site.  Have fun!

For some reason on quick battles the german flak trucks keep appearing even on random more than any other vehicle. I understand how the point system works and why that is since I am playing on a small map it's a small point object BUT DAMN! I almost never see german gun half tracks or pumas since upgrading to the market garden and commonwealth module even in France.

I sometimes rather like picking the units myself.  Usually I am disappointed at what the AI chooses, and I find it more challenging picking the units myself.  It takes a little more time but for me is worth it.
