Excellent stuff, thanks for posting.

Hey J.
Note: The Bulge is a separate family not a module to CMBN.
EDIT: Unless I misunderstood your post. No coffee yet...yawwwwn..
Thanks... yes I know this already, however since there is no place to post for it... Normandy forum seemed like the next best place.... until they get one... there are already screen shots of some of the vehicles posted in the Normandy section. No worries.. was just asking if someone knew about some of the tiles that's all.
-
I was recently doing some scenario editing and I pondered the thought of the possibility of new tiles for the latest and I believe the last title with the Normandy Series.
Would the building be more like that of Holland for the Luxemburg area and Belgium, and would there be a different tile set for Germany-Austria? I cant remember if someone had said depending on the date there would be snow, and at other times there would not be.
Anyways a hint would be cool, I know everyone is anxiously waiting.

Anymore Bulge screenshots coming out..... December and snow are almost here.....

Thanks for your answers guys.
I have noticed the lack of 7,92K ammo In CM:RT as well. None of the supply trucks or halftracks have any.
If your creating scenarios or in PBEM.. try using Supply trucks. Also Bunkers carry a little 7.92k ammo.

c3k - that doesn't amount to the designers not being in fantasy land, only to alleging that the players got their first.
The infantry part of the war was not static or uninteresting or unimportant. It was most of it, on all fronts and times. And plenty of it, even in the times and places where armor was occasionally around. When armor was around, it was rarely an even match of the best vehicles from both sides, or even a near-even match of the vanilla ones.
What I am saying is that we'd be better off with more diversity in the matter. Fights without any armor, and fights where only the attacker has barely a smidgen of the stuff, are inherently interesting and important for tactical lessons. Similar "asymmetry" in amounts of heavy fire support, or the presence of obstacles or difficult terrain, are also inherently interesting. Especially so with force to space levels considerably lower than the battalion every 600 yards scale in too many of the included scenarios.
I am reacting to those who told the original poster, in effect, sure infantry is unimportant, it was so in the real war. (Some instead told him useful lessons about how not to get his men killed, which is great - not what I am reacting to). This just isn't true. And the OP desiring to see scenario conditions in which infantry isn't just cannon fodder, when it can survive and fight, and its handling matters for the outcome, is justified, IMO. (That range of conditions may indeed be wider with best play - separate issue).
FWIW...
Working on a good infantry fight right now. Still making the map.. but when I am done will be a good fight. It may only be hypothetical but I try and make it interesting an fun. But I agree, sometimes a good slug fest between Infantry is exciting in itself. I found out that having too much artillery generally made the scenario bad and sometimes unplayable or at the very least demotivating as your infantry is torn apart... but in all respects, sometimes that was the case.
I also agree with JonS in that good sound tactics or bad or bad ones do result in what would probably be accurate in real life. I actually think that the BF team does a great job. Its not real life but its a great simulation of what I like to think as a 3D environment of ASL games from past, or larger ones from the likes of Panzer Blitz. From Avalon Hill.

Been playin PBEM and Quick battles for some time now. Playing against Human oppenents can be challenging as you have no idea what to buy. I sometimes have oppenents buy all tanks when sent to Mix... thinking you may have some kind of infantry fight.. but then realize he has just a HQ unit and all tanks. When playing ASL we used to have house rules of sorts, like no Aircraft and Artillery other then the usual Mortars attached to any Battalion or if playing Medium size Company level.
It can be a crap shoot. Still though its fun as heck.

I thought Ghostrider3/3's question may have been tongue-in-cheek.... Or not..
Yes it was.. I was just messing around. Anyways I am truly excited on what's coming out.
-
I doubt if it will be released until new year now. People will soon be looking at paying for Christmas
What battle pack? Is that the one for Black Sea?
-
Yes, both new late war textures and whitewash are in the game.
About how/when its going to be displayed - so far that's been changed three times over(!) so I can't guarantee how it'll turn out by game release. Currently whitewash shows up in January when there's snow on the ground and earlier if the scenario designer chooses to add a [whitewash] tag choice when building his scenario. Really, Ardennes didn't get its first savage snowstorm until pretty late in December (28th?) so few people would be splashing whitewash on vehicles much earlier.
Also lets remember future modules will give you Feb, March and April so whitewash is going to be around for awhile yet.
I understand you can choose the style of Infantry camo, etc. Panzergrenadier, Late war camo.. could they not do the same with vehicles? Between White wash, Snow camo, and normal (normal being the mod you have currently)?

So I am pretty sure I did everything correctly.
I put both pictures in my Z folder
and uploaded the text file where it said mod files. up in the upper left corner it said Lawn. Checked what red dirt was and it looks the same as lawn.
Its no big deal really. I guess if people want to use Rangers and they have the mod then they can load it, although having mod tags is alot easier I beleive for scenarios you want specific mods and such. Thanks again for the assistance Pete.
-
OK lets see if this works
Place the two texture files into your mod folder
Then add the text file in the editor and place some red dirt tiles on the map and see if you get a lawn.
P
Hello Pete, no it just ended up being red dirt.
I will try again.
-
Yeah never done "tags" before. I totaly understand how mods work within the Z folder, I just have never tagged anything before. I dont have Black Sea but I will try to look for some examples and check what manuals I have. Thanks for the info.
cheers

I have a quick question for Scenario designing. How the heck do you use Mod tags. Example. I want to use Veins 2nd Rangers, it is a brz. file. I placed it in one of my files so that I could import it, but whenever I go to import it the screen is blank like there is nothing in the file folder. ie... Incoming email, outgoing etc... where you normally can import from.
Any advice would be great, thanks.

This is excellent ! Small Unit battles makes a joy to control and skim through the fields. Please keep them coming ? AND if there are also 'historical' recon-type/commando based missions.... the better
Good work GostRider3/3
Thank you Borg, I am working on another right now. It will be another small unit action. "Unfortunately most of the Brandenburger's were disbanded and integrated into other units by 1943. Most of their actions took place early in the war from 1939 in Poland, Fall Gelb, North Africa, Barbarossa, and in the Balkans area. It is difficult to simulate using Russian trucks driving through checkpoints... but I do what I can.
We do not have partisans yet or Waffen SS, but there were many actions in 1944 with the SS-Fallschirmjaegers-Battalion.500 and the Balkan Partisans. It will probably be some time before we see another module in regards to Red Thunder. But when the Bulge addition comes out I plan most likely to do hypothetical actions using "Brandenburger's"
-
Small scenario but with some good and interesting action. I usually only play H2H and larger ones but this one was fun. Thanks for the efforts.
Thank you for your comments Big Boss. I knew a lot of folks were wanting some infantry combat and thought I would put something together that was a little unique.
Thanks again for your comments, I will continue to try and produce interesting and unique Scenarios.

Just uploaded Brandenburger Suprise on the Scenario Depot III site again.. this time it should be all good and not attached to "Clash of Titans" Anyways should be good to go now.
-
There was a strange mix up where two of my Scenario's were somehow uploaded as one. Not sure that is a Adminstrator thing or what. I had uploaded them the same day but at different times.
Will check it out tomorrow.
-
Anyways until they re edit the scenario, the download currently includes two scenarios, Clash of Titans and Brandenburger Suprise.
-
No, that is really strange.. I uploaded two in one day, I wonder if they somehow got mixed up. I will edit the scenario. Very strange, thanks for letting me know.
I have just sent the Edit form to fix the problem.
-
Downloaded from TSDIII. Zip-file contains another scenario as well - Brandenburger Surprise - is that intentional?
No, that is really strange.. I uploaded two in one day, I wonder if they somehow got mixed up. I will edit the scenario. Very strange, thanks for letting me know.

Hi Egger...
Have you thought about uploading it to here.
Hello Shane,
Quick Question, I recently uploaded two files to the Scenario Depot III, but its been a couple days and I still do not see them available at all. Does the moderator have to approve them first, even though they were successfully uploaded?
-
Is that a new version of Clash of Titans? I couldn't find that at Scen Depot 3.
Yes it is the same one as found on GreenasJade. I just figured I would upload it on the new Scenario Depot III site as well.
Strangely I do not see both of my Red Thunder Scenarios on the Depot. I wonder if they have to get approved first, because they both said they were successfully uploaded.

Just uploaded this to The Scenario Depot III http://www.thefewgoodmen.com/tsd3/ Enjoy.
Wittmans Demise: Amazing Movie!
in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
Posted
I agree, they should upload it to Youtube. Since people search Wittmann all the time I am sure it would get plenty of views and Battlefront would probably even get more sales, as many have no idea this lovely game is out there.
