  1. charge a couple of platoons across open ground with enemy mgs firing at them in both games. do a search for cmbo in cmak forum. lots of "how come in cmak" compared to cmbo questions from newcommers to cmak.
  2. probably 2006, see the chatter in the other forums. imho cmak is the best $40 you'll spend this year. yes the wego is neat. make plan, give order, watch plan go down the tubes, lol troops dont break and run in sp. well maybe one hex.
  3. the first thing is movement. 3 hexes is three hexes in sp. in cm, how far you draw a line for movement doesn't tell you how far a unit will move in the turn. and it is variable with weather, ground type, fatigue, etc. second is line of sight. completly different. to me cm is everything i wanted in sp. have you tried the demo for cmak? there are so many west front mods and battles for it and it is such an improved game over cmbo. most bb and ak players wont go back to bo.
  4. glad to help, adamo, another former spwaw player is posting in the cmbb forum. do a search for his questions when he first started playing. they deal with the differences from sp to cm. then buy the combo pack cmak and cmbb and find out how much better it is to play them.
  5. a lot of players claim the ai is too easy to beat. maybe qbs, which i dont play, but try a scenario made by someone with experience and playtested. some of those are tough. if the designer says to give the ai some extra, do it. if it is too hard too beat, restart with less. weather in operations is random. i have had to restart some to get the weather i wanted for the tactic i wanted to employ. to answer your question, yes i find playing the ai satisfying.
  6. from tarawa on the web, references, a tanker at tarawa's story 4. Tadao, Onuki, "The End of the Tarawa Garrison," in Masanori Ito, Sadatoshi Tomiaka, and Masazumi Inada, ed., Jitsuroku Taiheyo sense (3) (Real Accounts of the Pacific War), vol. III. Tokyo: Chuo Koron Sha, 1970. From Alexander, Bibliography p. 290.
  7. why did you wait until i left home to do this? now i have to wait all day to get them. thanks
  8. cmmos mods are zips that contain bmps with file extentions, and the rulesets for them. if you unzip a cmmos mod into your cmbo bmp folder, you wont see the mod. non-cmmos mods will overwrite and can be unzipped directly. but what if you dont like the mod after you see it? yes there are some mods that you wont want to remove. yes cmmos will let you switch theatres with the mods that were made for that. the mods i make for cmak are not cmmos, mcmmm handles these. mcmmm will also take a cmmos mod and make a new zip with bmps without the file extentions. www.bullheadcity.com
  9. cmmos is just the manager program. the rule sets tell the program what to do with the mods. then you load and unload the mods with cmmos. for pc you can take non cmmos mods and unzip them into your bmp folder in cmbo. but that action will overwrite your original bmps. i suggest before you start, make a copy of your bmp folder. rename the copy originalbmp. then if there is a problem you can copy and paste the original over the mistake. i like mcmmm mod manager for pc.
  10. gave up on spwaw? nice to see you. www.cmmods.com is where miket uploaded all he could from back in the day. search cmbo by designer miket, all, other, for cmmos and the rulesets (newest versions) them he started uploading under the name "cmmos" to try and keep it simple. most of the mods are under that designer name. if you have problems, keep posting here and mike will help you or email him.
  11. weasel i'm in auto parts but as manager i just look too busy to wait on people when i'm posting. i let my workers handle it.
  12. hans, i would have been nice if bfc would have put that in the manual since they must know. the excel chart for availability by country and date is at cmmods under my name or at band of brothers
  13. tpg is a good place to test your new battles or test someone elses. good fun, good people.
  14. nice to see something new from one of the original modders. looks good
  15. i see you posting all over the place, i thought you got banned, lol no cmak patch while you were gone
  16. click on the unit and hit enter. the info window will give you the distances i think you are looking for.
  17. i had a platoon toasted crossing a ford by a german flamer hiding in the woods on the bank. i have had a ft in a building toast a passing tank. moving them into position is the hard part. they do take out pillboxes.
  18. i have emailed him of some problems i have seen posting reviews. some are at the end of the description, some go way down the page. an op i reviewed only had the graph, you had to click to read my text. give him some time to sort it out.
  19. hi friends, good to see you both in the forum. with the new map converter now available, the pacific battles from the cmbo pacific mod can be converted to cmak. is/was there a standard for making pacific maps when these battles were made? it looks to me that open ground 1550-1554 map level 0-4 were sand, wheat was modded for shallow water, etc. i'm willing to work on the bmps if pacific fans want a mod. most cmak maps would have to be height converted as people use the default level 7. any help or thoughts?
  20. another of your points. ambushes work both ways. if the enemy has set his gun on hide with a cover arc, you wont see it until it raises its head to shoot you.
  21. i have found myself trying to move an at gun into position, checking los through whatever at level 1. i move the gun 3m to where i think it is safe, hit go and watch it get hit by a tank (a.i.) blast from 500m away. frustrating. los tool only works from where you are, not where you are going, unless you can place another unit there first.
