  1. * The british Warrior vehicles don't seem able to aim correctly with their coaxial 7.62 mm. They can practically not hit stationary infantry at close range (40m), but will consistently mis-aim.

    * The soldiers seem very poor at spotting. Many of the vehicles have IR sights, but can't spot infantry 100m away before the infantry opens fire. Similar with snipers looking at infantry firing 300m away in a previously spotted position, and they're unable to see anything.

You have to be more specific about the circumstances I guess before anything sensible can be said.

As for the hotkeys, I guess you already figured about you can edit the hotkeys.txt. So if some button is not there, I'm afraid it's not possible.

  2. I guess some extra routine where, before entering the building where enemy units have been sighted a couple of grenades are tossed would be nice. This could be done manually or automatically, I don't care. Right now you have to spend two turns to do this. One to throw and one to actually enter. This can result in a lot of wasted grenades.

As for the wandering around part. I just assume that's an abstraction.

    Just my two cents.

  3. :D:o Ok, ok, rain on my parade why don't ya?? Yes there is a difference I'm just getting too excited. My 8 year PBEM partner lives in Sweden and I know he's going to be big on playing the Russians. We've been playing CMBB for 8 years running now, the forever war, with no end in sight!

I do know this one may very well take over for awhile.

I'm gonna blaspheme a bit here, but I think CM:SF has turned me into more a modern war junkie than WWII. Shhhhh!! I can't believe it myself sometimes.

Yeah too bad they aren't working on some sort of WWII game ;)

  4. I think that they were part of program (or just enabled) once, but are not anymore or are being disabled. For a long time i have not seen any ERA-blocks missing from tanks even when they have taken some serious beatings.

Nope still there. But it's of course situationaly dependent.

  5. I wouldn't say the US forces are overmodelled, in RL they do blow everything up, so it seems realistic to me. What does seem far fetched but might be allowed to for play balance is the uber accurate long distance RPGs the syrians have. This is the main reason a true blackhawk down senario can never be done with CMSF.

If your getting owned as a syrian player, you might be using them wrong. Syrians have plenty of ways to do damage.

Someone actually tested the accuracy of RPGs in the game and they seem to correspond to actual noted experience. I guess it depends if you're on the receiving side or not :).

  6. Just finished playing through the first mission, a major victory. I inflicted enough casualties on the hapless Syrians to force a surrender with 2 minutes on the clock. I took 3 KIAs and 9 WIAs, which I felt wasn't bad considering the tempo that had to kept up and the restrictive ROE. Too bad the game didn't see it that way. Oh well :)

  7. Yes the radio symbol in the C2 panel dissapears for the CO HQ when the link to Bn HQ is lost.

I've noticed several strange C2 behaviours with the British Forces such as Mech/Armoured Squads not taking any C2 equipment (Radio, that other fancy thing they have) with them when they dismount.

Do you lose contact only when the CO HQ is moving or also when the unit is stationary.

  8. Really, this has been fixed? I'm asking because I sure haven't seen it. I've watched on many occasions where my AFV engage a target and swing the turret back to the forward position right after losing sight. Then shortly later re-acquiring the same target is no different then the first time.

Oh and by the way, congrats Steve, you just broke the record for saying "wonky" in a single post. :D

Maybe it helps with hit chances?

  9. Jeez, only 13 posts far and there are already two drama queens. For what it's worth, yes CMSF has some flaws, but unlike the CMx1 where you couldn't fix anything without a tremendous amount of effort and most likely breaking working things as well, the new, more flexible engine does allow for easier implementation of improvements.
