  1. Well if research only has one option and it still involves luck I do hope one thing gets fixed... current units do NOT get upgraded.
  2. Well make it an option to have a "luck" research system or to have a non luck research system. I prefer a game that functions like chess instead of poker, a question of taste. Having a feature to have both is the best way to add variety to your game and make it more appealin for the masses. BTW, you can't give bigger penalties to a player because he is doing anti historical actions, that's the whole point of these types of games, to try different things.
  3. I'll just say ONE thing. Remove the "luck" factor from research and from anywhere else in this game, although research is the only one I see. Make it a invest $$$ get research. Such as 500mpp= level 1, 600 = L2, 700 = L3, 800 = L4 and 1000 to get L5. Or anything that will make it so there is no luck involved in this game. Luck is the number one factor I now dispise Axis and Allies, Shogun or any of those dice games. And now I'm no fan of playing SC games with research enabled.
  4. So true for the Soviets, they just kept sending your everyday joe to the slaughter, figuring they would simply overwhelm by numbers, which is what happened. As for the US, I somewhate agree, they might not have had the experience but they had better training than any other Allied country.
  5. For what its worth, I think USA is fine apart from the land separation from Canada. Which I'm sure from hearing this over and over from posters will not be an issue in SC2. And I like how your goal was to keep the gameplay very simple, that's why I bought the game. If SC2 was exacly like SC except it had a more complete editor and it was a full world map, I would buy it. Goes to say how please I am with SC. Oh and remove the "luck" factor in this game (i.e; research) [ October 27, 2003, 04:37 AM: Message edited by: Blashy ]
  6. What is wrong with this forum? I find it one of better forums I've ever participated in.
  7. The pacific boring???!!! You have to be kidding me. Everything was rolling in there. Air, Navy and Land was necessary to be successfull in the Pacific. I don't call having to use all units available to you boring. Bringing troops transports to the islands and hoping for no enemy Navy finding them. It was great. 8. I definitely wish SC2 is world wide. And that the editor has a TON of more options.
  9. Finally found it on my favorite site. http://users.erols.com/mwhite28/oneparty.htm
  10. Anyone have a link where I can look one up? I've tried like crazy with google with no luck. I want to do a scenario where the US/UK/France contingent continues on fighting to remove that POS Stalin, basically WW2 continues on! I just need a map that shows what the Soviets controlled. Actually one that showed both sides would be great.
  11. I would be happy if everything stayed as is except for the editor (a MUCH more extensive) and a full world map.
  12. Many people mention that you loose the MPP to France when you free the Capital. You simply don't take the Capital. BUT France getting MPPs is no big deal, you simply use them to make Corps to guard Cities near the enemy (Spain border if Axis, Italian / France border and some German cities). I just like how you can move quickly on the mainland compared to the mountain areas of Spain, Scandinavia and Italy.
  13. This is the middle east of SC - poor supply for both sides and tough (transport only) to bring in new units. This is a great place to raid and/or attack but if the axis really want to hold it (due to the higher level of supply) you can't stop them unless you cut all three ports off from the main land (bomb or blocade). 14. I played the one with the HUGE OOB. He tried to make it as accurate as possible historically. But, the Allies are too powerfull. 13 Air Craft Carrier UK + 2 France, 3 UK Air, 2 France Air and the UK Navy is IMMENSE. Forget about taking the MED as Axis, it belongs to UK, end of story, those ACC will pound you and the minute you send Air to defend that area, they leave and pound somewhere else, or they take the units with the most strength and kill your fleets. Basically, you'll never be ready for Barbarossa if you try and defend against the Navy and ACC and if you let them do as they wish, they'll have Brest and Bergen all the time, they'll take Africa without breaking a sweat and Iraq after that. I know I played as Axis and even my Allie opponent agreed that he had it easy with all that firepower.
  15. I'll just play the one that has: 1- Full world involved. 2- The less micromanagement. #2 was the selling point when I bought SC. I'm a FPS person, I like action
  16. I think the idea is to make Partisans a MPP hinderence to the Axis either way, if what you say was possible, it would reduce this and give the Axis another advantage.
  17. Why not play a current campaign with FOW OFF? You'll get what you are looking for. If you are looking for one, I have one that can be played with FOW OFF and it works well. My Rome vs. Attila mod plays well both ways. Why? Because in those days knowing your enemies movements was a virtual piece of cake, spies were rampant everywhere, especially since both had somewhat of an Alliance. email me if you wish to have it blashy@hotmail.com For those of you who already received it, I have a revised version that fixed 2 issues. 18. Mysefl, if some people say they can make a 3rd party edititor, I would prefer it it were available to everyrone, even if it made cheating easier for those that wish to do so. Right now if they are cheats in SC they are just between the cheaters and who knows what cheats they could have come up with. The Quake2 source code was eventually released even though it was obvious it would make cheating easier, but cheating already existed. BTW, I'm sure Hubert can give his blessings or not to a 3rd party editor, but if that editor is 3rd party and does not modifiy the SC Editor, nothing can really be done legally to stop that. NOTE: I'm happy with SC as is, the only thing I wish is a full world map with Japan, oh and the Canada/USA land connection, same with the Finland/Sweden/Norway land connections .
  19. Just play any campaign that exists with FOW OFF. It simply makes the game more difficult, it becomes more of a chess match were you have to cover all angles (something people don't do with FOW ON) and you have to goad your opponent into traps.
  20. I'm playing the one by Narayan Sengupta. He tried to make it as historical as possible. Meaning the actual OOB. But I think he did not find all the info on UK. UK starts with 12! ACC, yes some are understrength but if you can't get at them they pound whatever they can and if you do send a plane, the player can kill it by simply attacking it with its properly strentgh ACC. What this does is cost you so much MPP in planes that you just can't get anything going, if you ignore it, then the MED is his to take all the Italian cities and Iraq. Basically it just becomes a massacre, heh. France starts with 2. That is not even counting the Aircrafts.
  21. I just lost in PBEM match as Axis in that campaign. I lost even before Russia joined! The main factor in my case was all those AirCraft Carriers, even though they start with only a little strentgh, they can easily stay out of Axis air and the UK Navy is so huge you can forget about sending the German Navy against it, so they just pound to oblivion whatever it can, by then they have higher STR and start to kill your AIR if you go for them (like 6-7 AC ). As well, forget about getting the MED, you can almost fill every hex of the MED with Allied navy  it also means UK can easily go for Iraq and the two Italian cities in Africa.
  22. I tried it on my WinXP system and had no issue. BTW, all software have a disclaimer of this manner in the read me which no one ever reads.
  23. I see you are also working on a WW1 mod? I'm currently playing the one made by Carl G. E. von Mannerheim, me and Kurt had to do a few House rule modifications as we played. If you want the updated rules. Let me know.
  24. I've also had to add some units, 3 in Italy, on cities and 2 on the Italian African cities all are strength 1. This is simply to help out UK, since UK has Italy it has to buy a unit in UK, transport it to Italy. The time and wasted MPP on transport are just a killer for UK. France has been removed and replaced with UK units. I did not have much of a choice because once Paris falls even with Free French on some units would disapear, in WW1 France did not have a "surrender" attitude. Some House rules have been implemented to deal with the WAY too much plunder received by German should Paris fall and the creation of Vichy France also had to be dealt with. This to say, the house rules are more expansive but permit the game to not be broken halfway which is what happened to us  Now the biggest issue will be to see how UK only being able to buy units from UK and having to transport them to France works out. This could be the only stumbling block, we'll see. Blashy takes out shovel and starts digging once again!
  25. What do you mean it does not fit 800*600? That you have to scroll around? Most games like this never fit on 1024*68 (which is what I run it in) just scroll around. Just THAT will keep you from buying it? If so, you'll never buy a game like this again
