  1. I've played the Fall Weiss revisisted campaing which has the actual OOB when the war started. It makes for a much more enjoyable game and USA makes more sense when it starts. BTW, I played it with no TECH vs. a friend of mine, only the current tech that is given from the start. Blashy, the I hate tech in SC because it is "luck" based and takes away from this game being 100% strategical
  2. Mother Russian lives! After a few successfull counter attacks from trained Army groups the German armies have retreated. The Russian Generals have given orders to chase the enemy to the borders and secure the lines. More German troops were hit as they made their way to their homeland. On the Western front, the French / UK troops were surprised by a Tank unit, obviously resource issues are not a problem for the German military. Even so, the troops reacted well and managed to reduce it to half its strengh, it will most likely retreat and will have to spend time refiting. The Western front is struggling to hold the line, the British have sent some leadership to help in the cause and a flood of British men are enlisting to "fight the good fight". In the high seas the British navy took heavy damage but in counter attacks managed to sink a few enemy vessels. Only 3 vessels remain of the German navy, only one has minor damages but we are confident this will put them on the run.
  3. Send those my way when you send me your turn Kurt, they are nice.
  4. How do you get your action points to go up? I have a general who can't get pass a mountain area because he is constantly at 1(2) action points. I've let him in same HEX for over 3 rounds figuring he would go 2(2) and then I could move him but he remains at 1. This sucks, I've just lost a general because of this. If he is rested for a period of time should not his action points go up?
  5. The red army is striking back at the enemy with great success, another army has fallen and another unit is badly damaged. This should help force the enemy to spend more resources. The good news about the russian successes reaches the french trenches A great naval battle is underway east of UK, one enemy ship was sunk but we have a severly damaged ship who will most likely be sunk, other enemy units have suffered casualties. On the French front, UK army groups have arrived and moved in on the enemy managing to engage and cause casualties to a few battalions. Still some French troops remain at the front ready to fight. Italy has officially declared it will not support the CP aggression and will hold its ground firm and make them pay dearly should they try to cross the Italian mountains. US politicians are saying they wish to comit troops but it will only be a minor one since the American people are just not interested in the overseas conflict. Preparations are underway to have their best units go to the front.
  6. So far the ruskies are ok, we took out the rule about 2 cities falling. It just made no sense. No way in hell a big country like russia would surrender after loosing 2 cities. Russia is holding out pretty well so far, I`m actually causing him more casualities on that front. So far the biggest issue is Italy not having its own troops and having to ship them from UK, costing extra mpp and time. As I said, Italy should have started with corps on each city and 2 army groups. This would make UK available from the start which until these upcoming turns I have not being able to do so, except for sending corps to their slaughter in the hopes of slowing down the german advance in France. Overall it is pretty well done, the Italy thing is the only issue on my side. Germans seem to be done quite well.
  7. Bill, I agree that 180 per turn is ok for USA. But IMHO they should have a HUGE starting MPP. When the US joined the war they were not starting from scratch, the whole country was a war machine for at least 2 years prior to entering the conflict. When they entered they went to action right away. More starting units, HQ for one, extra army, extra air fleet, one cruiser and 1000MPP would be a good thing. While the Soviets and UK should get 1 HQ to start. No extra MPP. Just seems normal to me that you have Generals ON the field when you know you will be going to war. These can all be done manually so that's not really an issue *** In the end I just wish TECH was not luck based, spend $$$ money get a tech level automatically.
  8. We'll both give you input on how it went once completed. So far I'm finding it hard for the French but that's how it went in WW1. I think I might have made a mistake and I'm trying to correct it. One thing is for sure, if France falls, it is pretty much game over since MPP production from UK and USSR will not be able to keep up and US involvment in WW1 was token. Hardest thing so far is how much MPP is lost by UK to transport troops to solidify Italy. Corps on each Italian cities and 2 Italian armies would probably resolve that.
  9. There is one thing I don't like about the bidding system. IMHO, UK and Russian should remain as is but the US should get a HUGE MPP boost when it enters. In WW2 USA was turned into a coutry of war production and was churning out troops and units like crazy. For the moment I 1st played SC I had 2 reactions: 180 MPP per turn for USA? That is out of what! TECH advancement is "luck" based and my current unit get upgraded as well? This HAS to be patch.
  10. I just started playing and will most possibly disapear once Half-Life2 is out . I played in leagues in the 1st HL for 2 years, I intend to get back in the swing of things ASAP! But I will admit that once SC2 (if ever) comes out and it involves a world scenario I'll probably be a very long time player. Considering it will have a lot of variety.
  11. The French resources are wearing thin. UK is comiting more troops to the French cause. They will not let the French loose their precious capital. Now that all the Italian cities and borders are manned by the military they've officially told the CP that they will not support their barbaric expansion, although they will not pass the Italian borders if the CP do not show hostilities. On the Russian front the fighting is bloody, more troops are flowing to the cause, the military keeps on training men in the hopes of not having to recruit more men from the streets to form corps. If the UK is becoming more active in the battle this should be of great help in taxing the CP to the limit. UK diplomats are still pressuring the US in joining the conflict, politicians know of the consequences should the CP win but the public is still unconcerned with what they call a continuation of European history. Although some US troops have brought French instructors to train them in the use of grenades. [ October 01, 2003, 12:48 AM: Message edited by: Blashy ]
  12. France is doing its best to avoid falling to the enemy, extensive trenches are built in Paris. British units were sent through the canal to help the cause. People and military evacuated Somme shelters On the East front, the Russians once again managed to eliminate a battalion. Lack of resources have once again become an issue, enlisting men of the streets to form a Corps. Re-inforcements are on the way, hopefully they'll arrive in good time. In Africa a scouting party was sent forward to look at enemy positions, the cities seem to be highly protected with Army units. [ September 29, 2003, 06:01 PM: Message edited by: Blashy ]
  13. The Motherland will show the Fatherland that our troops are well perpared, although not many, they are more than able to inflict casualties as was proven when the Germans lost a whole army group. Another Army battalion has finished training and was sent to the front. With France keeping the Germans at bay this is giving enough time for the Russians to train more troops. On the Western front, once again the unloading of UK corps in Belgium forced the Germans to fallback with some units, giving France more breathing space. The French are eternally gratefull for these sacrifices. Our general staff fell back to avoid taking enemy fire at the front. Canada is prooving it is commited to the Tripple Alliance cause, it has sent an Army group to releive a less trained corps group to Italy on the German border. Italy has supply issues and will quite possibly not be able to participate offensively but will be able to adequatly defend itself. 14. The last of the wolfpack is destroyed in the Atlantic, he managed to damage one of our fleets. We now prepare for a fight with the rest of the German fleet. They will see the might of the british Navy, we are not the greatest Naval armada of all time for no reason! In France the UK has proven their involvement in the WAR by doing a bold landing once again and this time they brought 2 contigents. France has striken back at the German offensive, once again only causing moderate casualties. The Italian border to Germany is sealed off and troops eye each other down in the trenches. Every Italian city is now occupied by the military. Russia has met the enemy at the gates of the city and for once in this war the enemy has suffered more casualties. Our boot camps are doing quite well at training soldiers. Russian infantry charging German positions
  15. Like one with a bigger map of Europe and the whole world included.
  16. It is obvious to us the CP do not intend to fight an honorable war. This new weapon of theirs can not be attacked, it stays deep behind their lines and fires away explosives. We also have the possibility of using such weapons, we intended not to do so and fight honorably. Now the CP have shown their cowardice and we will show them our resolve. On the French front the CP are also taking moderate casualties. The Atlantic has prooved successfull in sinking 4 subs, we expect them to run once again. Italy has agreed to not support the CP in this conflict, although it has stated it will not take offensive against them it will fight and protect its land from invasion. Also, all trading is now cancelled with the CP. Russia is slowly building its forces, it is a slow process but it is training new army contigents, which is much preferable than sending enlisted men to their deaths. These images won't appear. PASTE them in your browser, do NOT click, it won't work. http://adrianmco.batcave.net/enemyatgates5.jpg Secrete plans to train elite sharpshooters to inflict absolute fear wherever the enemy goes are underway. http://adrianmco.batcave.net/enemyatgates3.jpg [ September 28, 2003, 10:20 AM: Message edited by: Blashy ]
  17. Anyone agree with me that playing with FOW OFF is actually harder vs antoher human? The game becomes a big chess match. You have to cover ALL your territory, unlike with FOW ON where you can make calculated "risks" and leave some wholes somewhat open. And hardest of all you have to figure out a way to lure your opponent into danger even though he is seeing your every moves. Thoughts?
  18. I hate to post in an AAR but I must say... HOLY! The OOB is freaking HUGE! This is an onslaught from the start. Alot of thinking goes into each move that is for sure.
  19. The Warsaw garrison held firm and managed to buy precious time for Mother Russia. Will this be enough, our Generals have every confidence it will be. All the Cities are properly reinforced and the border cities are preparing for the CP advance and intend to make this their stoping point. A scout left Warsaw reporting that the CP have a new weapon a big battle vehicle. We have been doing research on this type of weapons ourselves but lack of resources is preventing us from having production models. On the French front, trenches a getting muddy. But the Germans are discovering that the French do not intend to have their land pillage by Barbarians. UK is not showing much signs of involvement, they will have to act soon to tax the enemy on more than 2 fronts. Italy continues to fortify its borders, seeing the Germans piling up troops close to the mountains is a sign of bad things to come. Sub hunting continues in the Atlanic, still no merchant vessels attacked. UK diplomats in the US are doing good work with politicans but the American people are not concerned with the infightings of Europe. Most of them are people who left Europe to forget about all the mayhem of so many countries, religions, ethnicities and languages which so often causes conflicts. They have other things they consider more important, a life of luxury.
  20. The CP use of chemical agents has not been well received in America. The UK diplomat is quite happy at Frances sudden tragedy. France once again holds its lines and manages to inflict casualites to some German units, our leader is prooving his worth. UK is somewhat silent in the conflict although it still hunts for subs even though they no longer threaten our shipping. Russia is in a mad dash to secure a line from city to city but resources and just not enough. The 3rd "A" is definitly having communication issues between them considering only France seems to be involved in confronting the enemy.
  21. Russian strugles to secure its cites and mobilize troops, lack of resources is showing. In the hopes of slowing the CP advance into the motherland they have sent more troops into Warsaw. The rest of the cites are all digging in. UK is slowly combing through the Atlantic see for subs still without success. The UK has sent a contigent of men to help the French cause, although quite limited it has landed behine enemy lines and should help to slow down as well as cut off supplies to the CP. France is digging in fairly well and has managed to inflict casualties to a few corps and armies, none have yet to be destroyed. We expect the Germans to find this a frustrating attempt at invading France. Italy is showing signs of distrust towards the CP, they do not make any political promises, they simply ask to stay out of this matter, how can Italy stay out of a situation that will ultimatly affect its people. Out of precaution, Italy will heavily garrison its borders. The struggle for liberty continues.
  22. The Triple Alliance formed because of treaties signed left and right in the past and because of those signatures were forced into a war they are not well prepared to fight but intend to tax the CP resources to its limit as they gather other Allies. Italian diplomatic relations are going well and Italy is starting to build a heavy defensive force. On the battle front, the Atlantic subs are being quite deceptive, they have escaped the clutches of the British armada. France has fortified itself heavily with all the plunder it took from Portugal. This is now the time to dig in the trenches and hold the enemy, going on the offensive is not possible due to depleted resources. UK is building itself up and is testing the possibilities of using planes as a tool for war. Africa and the MED are currently under UK control and we intend to keep it like so. We expect Italy to be very displeased should the CP start moving about in the sea. Russia is struggling to protect its western most cities knowing full well the CP will look into expansion. USA is being quite relunctant to join although UK was told that it wished for a Triple Alliance victory. A great storm will have to be weathered if the Triple Alliance is to win this war. 23. Foreseeing a bloody occupation from the Central Powers the coutries of France, UK and USSR form and alliance that will be known as the Triple Alliance. Russia, even though unprepared for war and not financially stable gathers its troops and starts to solidify a line to hold the CP at bay. They expect Warsaw to fall into enemy hands easily . France has to regroup after seeing Belgium fall so swiftly and being caught off guard cost them some resources and the lost of their fortifications. France puts the command of its Navy under UK control. UK, also unprepared for war, apart from its formidable Navy, goes on the hunt for subs in the Altantic after reports of merchant marine ships being sunk. The enemy was found but at a deadly cost, a battleship fleet operating at 30% was sunk in a bold surprise attack. Another fleet engaged the enemy causing it moderate damage. The Atlantic will be swept of CP occupation. In a bold move, France has sent diplomats to Italy to explain the situation and how it will affect them in the futur. UK does the same in the US but the response is somewhat cold. France finished off the last of the revolutionaries in Portugal and now has control of the country.
  24. Victory conditions are: Paris falls: France surrenders. London falls: UK surrenders. Moscow falls: Russia surrenders.
  25. What is the Italian gambit? DOW on Italy by Allies with transports ready to land?
