  1. This should be a blast, I've been looking for someone to play this with and I had a great time with Kurt in my 1st match vs a Human. I much prefer WW1 history and battles to WW2. Let the Trenches pile up!
  2. Like I said, if the PBEM forced me to accept challenges, that would be another reason to quit. I don't care if the person with the #1 ranking wants to choose who he plays, its just a ranking of a game that we play to have fun.
  3. I'll tell you my opinion, if Curry made the PBEM league that "forces" me to play so often as in the Z league formula I drop out in a heart beat. I think it is set now that you have to be inactive for 3 months before you get removed and IMHO that is fine. There should not be a rush that you always have to play 1 match every week or 2 weeks OR that you have to accept a challenge or be forced a loss or whatever. I've asked 3 people for matches in the PBEM league, one has not answered so far, I'm not going around saying he should get a loss because he is not responding to the challenge. This is about fun, not competition, if you intend to make your league a weekly competitive event you should state this VERY clearly that only dedicated serious players who can commit 1-2 matches a week are allowed.
  4. That should be patches for SC. Same goes for Sweden and Finland. Those are HUGE design flaws. And yes the MPP should go to the USA thats just plain common sense. [ September 23, 2003, 10:48 PM: Message edited by: Blashy ]
  5. Never mind. I just found my answer in my old question, duh.
  6. I asked a question about this before and was told for a city/port to have 100% production they need to be linked to a capital. I've conquered Irak and the cities/ports are still showing at only 50%. Does the suez canal seperate them? If so then my only option is to conquer Vichy France I guess.
  7. Well the AI still attacks russia, on its own terms, but still, pretty stupid move.
  8. I doubt you'll see another patch for SC. The AI does need alot of work, I can hold off the AI from taking all the way up to the joining of USSR in the war, I even kept it from taking the LC! At the hardest setting without the +2 experience, with it I have no tried yet. The AI has one major flaw, it does not finish off targets MANY times, this is the key to wining vs. the AI, you go for the kill, it does not end result, it spends more MPP than you = victory every time. Play in the PBEM or ZAP leagues, good whoopings over there, hehe.
  9. If you go for the invasion of UK. You have to put US at random. There is NO way the US would have stood by and just watch the UK being taken. While the USSR had its own visions of glory so putting it as neutral is also not going to work. Sealion vs. a player will not work at the begining of the game, unless he tries something foolish, which I've done when experimenting new strategies as a newbie.
  10. Expect to learn a few tricks vs. Kurt. He's my 1st opponent with experience (My 1st match ever is vs. my friend, a 1st timer as well) and I've discovered a few things and the end result is a slow death for the allies. I think I'm giving him a good fight but he ain't no same old same old AI so you are bound to learn a few things... the hard way
  11. Well I've played your 1965 scenario (I play it without the added textures) and I loved it. So my comment is, release this 1985 scenario ASAP! Please
  12. If anyone would like to have a match with the 1914 scenario which can only be played vs. another player I would like to give it a go. I've always had a preference for WW1 history compared to WW2 and never had a game to play that represents WW1
  13. I could add more stuff but those 5 would and are plenty to make SC2 surpass SC by a longshot.
  14. I'm happy to see this. I'll have my friend sign up as well.
  15. Anyone notice the worse thing it does? Not concentrate on eliminating units but damage as many as possible. I'll have a unit surrounded by 3 of his at times and with 2 attacks my unit will be down to 1-4 and with its 3rd unit it will attack another target instead of finish off my barely alive unit. This I see over and over and that is why I always win, I end up not spending as much MPP for new units as that AI does. Until that is changed, no matter how different it attacks or where, you'll always win if you make it spend MPP on new units while it keeps yours alive and you just replenish, which is much cheaper.
  16. Thanks Terif. BTW, I'm enjoying your battle with Z. I still can't beleive how fast you move around and conquer cities in 1-2 turns. I'm trying to picture how you do it. Kurt is giving me a taste of how some of it is done.
  17. I've read this while doing searches. I have not seen this in the Strategy Guide.
  18. That's all pretty cool stuff. Myself I would just keep it simple or have the option to do so, which is always good to give the players variety. 1- Current troops get not auto upgrade when you go up a TECH level. 2- To go up a level you need to have equal number of TECH invested in it.
  19. Another thing I thought that this game is that to get level 5 you need 5 points of research in that area. But most of all not having the current units AUTO upgrade would would solve 75% of the problem IMHO.
  20. I figured this was discussed before. This whole TECH thing might be ok if your current units did not get auto upgraded.
  21. That could be an alternative. And Yes I agree with JerseyJohn that TECH was a factor in WW2 but not to the extent that it is in SC, at least not from what I've read, seen or heard. In SC it can be a gamebreaker, especially since your CURRENT units get upgraded automatically once you get that tech, which I find is a bad thing. Where it not there TECH might not be such a game breaker, seeing as you would have to buy a plane to get the newer models. Anti Air, Industrial Tech would obviously get auto upgrading but not the rest.
  22. I've started a game with a friend of mine who is also new to SC. We decided to a house rule of not investing in tech and leaving it as is. What we are finding out is the game is much more of a strategy game and has virtually nothing to do with luck. That is what I've found I dislike about tech, you jump on air tech and hope you get the edge, long range AC as well. Once one side has better tech in one of those 2 areas it really breaks the game IMHO and takes away the strategic element to some extent. I find Industrial Tech not to be a game breaker but LR AC and Adv AC along with Super Subs and Tanks can really hamper a good strategy. Bottom line is that no tech = more a chess match, even harder with FOW on.
  23. I love that whole Turkey plot. Very well thought out. I've always wondered if Turkey ever thought of entering WW2 to conquer some lost territory, it got its ass kicked in WW1. The idea of Turkey possibly acting independent is great.
  24. This should work, it did for me: www.peachmountain.com/5star/sc/NSengupta 1985 WWIII Red Inferno v1.2.zip Looks excellent, can't wait to try it out.
