SC2 plays on Mac OS X !
Blashy replied to Blashy's topic in Strategic Command 2 Blitzkrieg and Weapons and Warfare
Just an update that PDE runs perfect on my iMac. -
I suggest you keep all WW1 mod topic stuff for Edwin in his thread: http://www.battlefront.com/community/showthread.php?t=78003
-
A) Initially I was a better tester for PDE but real life prevented me from giving it enough time so I told Hubert he would be better off with someone else. I did not buy it right away simply because I have barely played ANY SC in the past year, easily less than 4 total hours. So I had no incentive to get PDE.

I will be taking your mod for a good spin... I just purchased PDE.

Help Don't Know What to Buy.

The PDE AI is superior. Since pzgndr has made his WW2 mod for PDE I say go for PDE, this way you have the best AI and his mod is amazing. I prefer it to the default WW2 scenario that comes with the game (sorry Hubert ). Also, Edwin is working on a WW1 scenario that will be for PDE only and Edwin is a VERY VERY miticulate modder so expect a thourough and complete game. So I guess I changed my mind, hehe. -

SC2 WaW because it is historically based. PDE is a what if type of scenario... obviously mods will come out for it and it has more AI enhancing capabilities. -
AAR - Minty Allies Vs Mark Y Axis
Blashy replied to Minty's topic in Strategic Command 2 Blitzkrieg and Weapons and Warfare
Doing a sealion is simply not possible if UK is properly prepared and in SC2 this is easily done. The current setup is fine, how the players play UK early is what can cost them. -
Blitzkrieg AI weakness
Blashy replied to hendriks65's topic in Strategic Command 2 Blitzkrieg and Weapons and Warfare
Thing is, it might start to make subs somewhat obsolete. Then again I still find subs overpriced. So if they were less expensive and surface raiders were added, subs would still have appeal. My 2 cents. -

Honestely, apart from having to pay extra to buy VMWare, you really do not need an official mac version. The game plays flawlessly. -
WWI Campaign - Designers Notes

I agree with Mark, I would have USA as a minor but with a huge build possibility. USA was not a factor in why WW1 ended but they would have been if it had gone on and this would have been in terms of production of goods SENT to UK. So having their money be in the UK pool makes sense. Anyway by then UK should pretty much be maxed out in units so the extra mpps would go to US troops. WW1 Major players : UK, France, Russia, Germany, Austro-Hungary empire. Major Minor: Turkey and USA. The rest being typical minors. Once you have a test version I am buying PDE just for that campaign. . -

Update: The video acceleration feature in settings has REALLY made an impact for me, things just move much smoother and faster. No way the game was this smooth when I was on PC only. I bet ya anyone with just 2 gigs of ram and running this in VMWare for Mac would not feel the need for more ram. -
Minor Allies

My activation 1 script is still the best thing out there in terms of making the minors a bigger factor and not just little countries to easily pound over with little to no consequences. -

Just an update that the latest version of VMWare 2.0 runs great. VMWare is doing great work in the area of gaming, some 3D games now run in VMWare. For best performance I suggest being able to allocate 1.5 gigs of RAM to your virtual machine. So it is best if your system has 3 gigs of ram. If you only have two split it in half. For simply running SC you only need to give it the default configuration of using 1 processor (all Macs have dual cores). I left all the settings default except the RAM allocation. -
Long Spotting Range in AI?
Blashy replied to Armuss's topic in Strategic Command 2 Blitzkrieg and Weapons and Warfare
The area where people make the most errors in this game is with the supply rules and if one person is the all mighty master it is certainly Terif. I am sure if he played the AI (hardest settings of course) he would have spotted this sometime ago. Not saying it is not possible, just highly unlikely. -

Nice to see the AI play so well. It never ceases to improve. Nice job Hubert. -
WWI Campaign - Designers Notes

You should have armor, tanks were used in WW1 but each country had very few and their movement was pretty much the same as troops. They cost allot to build. Tactical Bombers did exist in WW1 and they could pack a decent punch on strategic targets, they had few again due to high costs but they should be a possibility. Look forward to giving this a go, coming from you it should be spectacular... no pressure =). -

Please help me beat AI
Blashy replied to Stragic Command's topic in Strategic Command 2 Blitzkrieg and Weapons and Warfare
To eliminate Russia you need to take Moscow, Stalingrad AND the cities in the Urals mountains. Once they surrender it will give you a bunch of MPPs and all your troops will be free to take on the Western allies. As well do not forget to leave a units on EACH russia city to avoid partisans taking them back. -
Terif vs Liam, Stalingrad & Atlantic

I can never go back to SC2 after playing WaW. The roads and rail alone make it a much more realistic battle, requiring more long term planning on how to defend infrastructure. -
