  1. I don't think my advice was sluggardly. The best answers to the OPs questions honestly come from the demo, not from words. However, it was an omission to forget to mention the learning curve. The poster who mentioned that is right: you need to be ready for the fact that getting battle tactics right takes years of experience ... it doesnt matter whether it's virtual or real. If you expect that you can leap in and start winning battles, you're in for disappointment, and you will likely start complaining about the game when the problem is your own lack of experience... GaJ
  2. ME TOO!!! I am _still_ waiting to see the icon smile for real!!! Dang, I guess that's what you have to expect eh.... you go to the trouble of making a better turn notifier, then your oppos all go away for the weekend Edit: Yay I got a turn. Hmm - it looks like the smile could be more smiley. Any icon designers out there!? GaJ
  3. Hi All, I got tired of having to look in the dock or taskbar or whatever to see if a new turn was waiting. So I gave H2HH a Systray/Menubar Icon. You can turn this on, using Options->Show Icon. If you don't like it, you can turn it off again This is available in H2HH 2.2.0. GaJ
  4. Hi All, I got tired of having to look in the dock or taskbar or whatever to see if a new turn was waiting. So I gave H2HH a Systray/Menubar Icon. 5. Why Sigh? I mean - no-one is criticising the intertial starter. It's fantastic. It's what they put on tanks because they didn't want to be pressing the starter button and hearing a clunk. Its just not the sort of thing you plan to do as a part of "springing into action after hiding", which was the original premise of this thread. (oh ... and a video of it in action does lend itself to cracking a few jokes about it, all in good fun ) GaJ
  6. Was everyone picturing this when they were thinking about what happens when the tank comes out of hiding (edit - PS: just for the record, my Grandpa wasn't a tanker, just so we're clear on that. I know nothing about this topic other than what google told me in the last 24 hours ).
  7. My Grandpa was a tanker. He told me they never turned off the engine in-case it wouldn't start again. That's why it is this way, for sure. Oh, it might be a little hard to turn the turret, too, without the hydraulics... GaJ
  8. Dang eh? Must nail that. Could be tricky to find out why... we'll see how we go..
  9. Ah. It's interesting that you mention this about the date of mods. I had noticed something there, then thought I imagined it. But if you are seeing it too then it is probably real: I should look into it. CMMODs is supposed to be better than the BFC Repo at everything GaJ PS: if anyone can spot what it is that makes an older mod suddenly look newer, that'd be a massive help Like "I did this, then whoa it looked newer".
  10. Hmm - what's with that? In what way does the BFC Repo sort mods better than CMMODS? Thanks, GaJ
  11. Hmm - I'm not sure if that holds water. If someone in the tank does not have LOS, as evidenced by a grey line, then isn't it most likely that this is the gunner? Afterall, he's the lowest down guy... GaJ
  12. Hah - so many ironies here I might rust
  13. So if the bearer is not showing any ammo at all, then they are doing absolutely nothing useful?
  14. Why does the machine gun of the Stuart always point at such a wierd "90 degrees" angle? I googled for M5A1 Stuart image and couldn't find a single one where the gun was pointing off to the side like that, but my Stuarts seem to drive around all the time this way...
  15. Isn't it ironic how simultaneously we have in one thread some guy complaining about spending 50 bucks for his own enjoyment, while in another thread guys are coming up with hundreds for the benefit of everyone. Funny ole world... GaJ
  16. Aris' CMFI Album http://cmmods.greenasjade.net/mods?author_id=355&game_type=6
  17. In fact, CMMODs was in abeyance not because of bandwidth issues (which I pay for and had planned to continue to do so) but because of the cost of hosting the web site application and the database that it uses: this suddenly became not-free. At heroku.com (a fantastic web-app hosting site) you can get a "development database" for free. This is intended both for the developers of websites before they "deploy" them, and also for "casual, small-time" websites. It is free to run. Heroku run these on a "best effort" basis, and aim for 95% uptime, with no particular guarantee of responsiveness. A "production database" is what they intend that you buy when your website is public ("in production use"). They guarantee 99% uptime, and you can buy increasing improvements in responsiveness. Our generous benefactor donated enough to let me run CMMODs on a production database, so 1) I don't have to try to squish the databse smaller to fit into the free database constraints 2) We now have production uptime and responsiveness. And I see we already have a couple of Aris' CMFI vehicles. Yay GaJ
  18. What a great community this is. A kind and generous donor just stepped forwards and helped me buy a production database. So CMMODs is back on line, better than ever. I'm looking fowards to seeing Aris' Vehicles in all their glory! (I'm also looking at adding a CMFI section, soon) GaJ
