  1. John you should have been a history teacher! Great stuff! Rommel is my favorite WW2 General, a great tactical warrior and a decent human too.
  2. Looks like a fun game. Good luck against the king and let us know how things go.
  3. Hi Panzer 39! Patches I do know what it is but this CORE mod...what's that. Are you up for a new SC game?
  4. I'm not a Zappleauge member but I have used the first turn LC gambit many times and I've won games even when it failed and lost games when it worked as planed. Now I rarely do it because I find it's not so efective against better players but there is not reason to forbid it. The only thing I want to ban is the Rome gambit, all other things can be dealt through the bidsystem.
  5. I took German at school but it was a subject I never put any hard work in. Now I pay the price. I can understand enough to get intressted but not enough to really understand all details but a lot is the same as been written here at battle front.
  6. I dislike that Germany can so easyly attack Vichy France who was a "friendly" nation to Germany. Offcoure Germany should be able to do that but I think that would worry another even more friendly nation; Spain. They should better prepare their defences if Vichy was attacked by the Axis. More units and having a HQ. This would force the Axis to be more careful before they attack "friendly" minors.
  7. I know that I have to put a unit in all Russians towns and have all swamps and mountain hexes in ZOC but I'm a bit unsure about Sevastopol. Do one have to have a unit there too?
  8. I had the AXIS 2 times with the original scenario and now in the semifinal I had the Allies.
  9. I remember that game very well! I did do an invation in the west but it was in the fall of 1946 and I failed to take Paris in time. One or two turns more and the game would have been won. My misstake was not invade a lot earlier. I thought for a long time that I would take Berlin with the Russians heavily supported by UK and US air. My problem was that the German Army was very experienced and supported of 5 or 6 L-5 Rockets. When I changed tactics and started attacking in the west it was to late. Still when the game ended I was just a few turns away from taking both Berlin and Paris. It was one of the most exciting games I played and it ended in a draw.
  10. 6 months is OK as far as I'm concerned. None of my games has lasted more then 3 months and normaly a pbem game takes 5-6 weeks unless there is a surrender early on.
  11. You and Curry will have to decide the importent thing is that the rules are clear for everyone.
  12. I don't know maby 12 months is a bit much 4-6 months shoud be OK. We don't want to encorage slow play
  13. Question; If one is playing only one game and say we make a move a week. This game will then take longer then 3 months to complete, will we be removed from the PBEM ladder/leugue due to being inactive then?
  14. Thanks Terif for this very useful information. SC is a mysterous lady with many unkown screets. You say Axis unit must not be close to London or Manchester even after the UK is no more. Close..is that two, three or four hexes away from these cities?
  15. March 1944 Mother Russia has fallen and the Western Allies has come to the conclusion that any further hostilities would be meaningless. We who are about to die, we salute you Panzer 39.
  16. Feb 1944 The UK is now clear of Axis units and one German transport was sunk trying to escape. One more Italian Army killed and we are one inch closer to Stockholm. The Urals are getting ready for the final battle.
  17. The unwanted guests in Edinburgh are no more and soon we'll take care of the German corps in Scotland. But the Italian Navy has shown its ugly face at the shores of the UK. We will try to take care of them too..... Due to our problems in the UK the Swedish offensive has lost steam. Our Russia friends fights on a while more but....for how long? For a change we attack a Italian corps in Iraq that is still alive but regrets that they ever left their mammas.
  18. November 1943 The defenders of UK attacks the enemy in Edinburgh and with the help of carrier the enemy is weakend and hopefuly will be gone next turn. A French HQ lands in the north to protect the port. One German transport is sunk in the English channel. Ireland can not be saved but we killed one Italian HQ in Sweden and are moving closer to Stockholm. Denmark is liberated. To our surprise the Ural is holding very well but in the south of Russia we are pressed back. Routine bombings of the Italian HQ in Iraq.
  19. October 1943 Two axis units killed in Sweden and the Italian HQ down to 4. Transports ready to land north of Stockholm. In the Urals things look very bad. Russia will be out of the war in 3-4 turns.
  20. September 1943 More units land in Sweden but no kills. We leave Hamburg and block Copenhagen with a naval unit. Loosing ground in the Urals but it's a slow process. Attacking Italian HQ with air.
  21. More landings in Sweden and Germany. Two more Luftwaffe units killed in Sweden. One US air gave his life in this battle. The Russian frontline still holds in the Urals and in the south but lack of $ is a problem. Strange how good things go now when I can't win. If I only hadn't lost those carriers, things could have been very different now.
  22. 15th of August 1943 Hamburg falls and transports are all over the place waiting to land. One Italian Army killed in Iraq.
  23. Two German air gone in Norway and one Italian Army killed in Iraq. Allied Navy has control over the Baltic Sea.
