  1. Rannug reports a loss to The Real Deal? in the tournament. Russia surrenders in Sept 1945 and all futher resistence is pointless. Axis rockets, bombers and tac air won the battle. TRD played a very tactically clever game, taking very few losses and being in no rush. Slow but always moving forward making sure giving out more pain that he takes. At the end his key units where elite and killed at will.
  2. As been said I was close to Alexandria for at least 2 or 3 turns and the Commonwealth forces never showed up so if Terif is right about the scripts(as he always is) then this must be a bug. I took a look at the scripts in the options and everthing looked normal. This is a WAW game...
  3. I'm far from the best SC playaer around but when I read about how hard this scenario was I took it for a spin against the AI. Moskwa fell 1942, Russia surrenderd sept 1944 and The US surrenderd sunmmer 1946 and London fell the same turn. This was on zero experience and beginner difficulty. If it was against a human player it is probably hard to win as Axis but against the AI it will be a real challange first at experience +1 and almost impossible at +2. The AI is predictable and as a human you will sooner or later always beat it if you give it a few spins.
  4. Hi Baron! I mailed you about to start the game, Did you get it?
  5. It doesn't matter to me, put me where there is missing a player.
  6. I just finished a game against the AI(allied) on the easiest level and the AI took me to the very end, May 1947. I got a minor victory and only France was knocked out. I went all out on the intel tech early in the game witch was fun but probably was one reason why I didn't have the strenght to go deep into Russia + that I took out Saudiarabia and since there is no railroad there it took ages for that battlegroup to get back to the frontlines. A weakness with the AI is the way it deals with enemy fortifications. It loves to attack them rather then help out the ground froces atempts to kill off units. Sometimes it can be the right thing to do but more often not. Overall the AI is very good and better then many new players will be at start. I won a few games with AI experience +1 but +2 is something I havent dared to try yet.

  8. Italy was allied to Germany and Austria before the war but the deal was that if any one of the 3 was DOW, the others would join in. Now since it was Germany and Austria that made the DOW's Italy was not "forced" to join the war. So the fact who DOWed who does matter a bit even if it's true the all the major nations are to blame why it turned out to be global conflict.
  9. "-- Certainly not having troops in French territory, in both wars I believe it was France which first declared war on Germany. In WWI the sequence was something like -- Austria DOW Serbia Russia DOW Austria Germany DOW Russia France DOW Germany" This is not what happend...... Correct version without details.. Austria DOW Serbia Russia mobilizes Germany DOW Russia Germany DOW France(since they are allies with Russia) Germany DOW Belgium UK DOW Germany

  12. This other game has dispite it's flaws some good ideas and I think the oil is one of them. If we want SC to get closer to the real thing oil should be part of the concept. If you just want a great and fun game it's not a must.
  13. I'm just now trying it out with IM of 110% and a bit lower experience for a lot of Axis units. The russians are falling back at the center but are attacking Finland and in the south. 5-6 axis units has been destroyed and forces the Axis to rebuild rather then invest in tech. In the center the lack of supply slows down things more then any russian units ever can do but without any serious resistence experience does not go up much. Still Kuni is right about that the editor has to upgraded before this most exelent scenario will work as intended.
  14. I agree a lot with Hellraiser. The full effect of the bigger industrial output of the Allies should not come into play to early. Cheeper units is not good since it allows Russia to mobilise to many units before Barbarossa. Lower the Industrial modifier for Ussr and USA to 60% at the start of the game but incrase the IT Increment for the USA to 30% and to 20% for the Ussr. I would also limit the Russian and Italian investment in non econonimical tech to max 1 chit. Other nations will have a max of 2 chits in non economical tech.
  15. One thing to concider is the better quality of German elite units vs Sovjet elite units. I would put a cap on Sovjet Corps and Armies IW and AT to L-2. They will have the numbers and the MPP but will suffer on an one to one level. Even during the last months of the war, the few good German units that was left could upset the Russians localy.
  16. I never seen a free french ground unit in any game. Has anyone got one?
  17. I tried to put the movment cost for a Battleship to zero but 1 was the lowest value. But why not place a minefeild around Leningrad, this shold be possible to do with the "around Africa" arrows. I would pick tile 27,6 and 28,7 and 28,6. If the Battleship moves there it will be sent to some far away and isolated lake with no supply. The look of the arrows could be changed to a mine.
  18. Yes, I think it might be better to leave the supply at 6 and lower the MMP base. This will make Russia weak at start but not make it to easy for the Axis in mid/late war.
  19. It would not totaly hinder them but the readiness will be lower since it will take some time to go back to Leningrad and resuply and it would be harder to coordinate any attacks. Another idea is to have the whole Navy represented by one single Battleship stuck in Leningrad harbour unit with a strong shoreattack but with a movement of 0 but a firing range of 2. The sub will offcourse remain. The Black Sea Navy could then be only cruisers and should only be 2 units.
  20. Another idea; Why not have Finland as a major nation and thus getting better supply and have a convoy route from Germany to be able to help out with MPP when needed. The convoys will represent German aid add to this a house rule of maximum one German/Axis corps entering any Finish harbour.
  21. Yes, if the Germans gets close to Leningrad faster the Russians will have other things to do then abuse the poor Finns but what about some restrain on the Baltic Navy...if the scenario would go on to 43 they will all have 4 bars of experience and be a Uber Navy killing of all living thing at the costline. Solution; My idea about 1 movment point or one could also (if possible) give no experience to them after battles. About giving xtra MPP; start some kind of convoy that is very limited in time? The 49th mountain corps was also stronger then any other corps and could have 3 bars, same goes for the 4th inf corps.
  22. When playing the Russians I use 3 or 4 air against Finland + the Baltic Navy and a L-2 tank to defend/take back Viborg. Axis advance in the north is slow so you will be left alone hammering on the Finns. In Nov/Dec your Air/Navy/Tank will have 1-3 bars of experience and sometime during the spring of 42 you will break through. This doesn't drain much MPP from Russia since the air should be out of range of German air anyway. With gained experience it will be very costly to repair the Finns. The minefields in the Baltic Sea could be represented with a movment range of 1 for the Russian Baltic Navy, this would also take a little heat of the Finns. About the loss of Moskwa effect; One could use a script similar to the "Russian winter strikes" that will be triggered once Moskwa falls...bringing all Russian cities down to 5 or 6. I also think the random allied bombings are to powerful during 41/42. i HAD bERLIN down to 1 a few times. No AA in Berlin? The German panzers start out on equal strength but the 41th, 24th and 39th panzers where stronger then the others - I would make them overstrenght 13 with 3 bars. The 56th and 46th panzers where weaker - I would make them overstrength 11 with one bar. In may every year one should give the Axis some xtra MPP(1000-2000) to boast a summer offensive. I don't know if all these things are posible with the editor but might be (Kuni)worth a try? [ July 28, 2006, 09:47 AM: Message edited by: Rannug ]
  23. I think Kuni has done a great work in this scenario and I played 5 or 6 solitaire games(1.02) with it and had great fun. In two games the Axis took Moskwa but after november/december it's all over for the Axis. Russia just keep buying back all those corps mixing it up with a few Armies and a tank now and then and soon they can flood the map. It doesn't matter that the Axis kills a lot of them every turn, more is always coming to fill the ranks. When the russians kill a panzer at great expense, the Axis can not aford to buy them back since the MPP is needed to repair the still living units. Investing in tech for Axis is only a dream.... Taking Moskwa has not any special effect (like lower supply for Russian cities for a while) as it should since it was the communication center of Russia. Finland has a hard time surving the attacks of air, tanks and naval units. I would like to have a copy of the new version and I hope someting will be done about the problems with the Baltic navy and the Red air force that can hammer at will against the Finns. My email is elgenstrom@hotmail.com I like to try a few games HvH if Kuni, John or anyone else is up to it. This scenario is the best new mod so far I've seen.
