Still horrible user interface keeps on developing

So you get full screen briefings? -
Anyone running CMRT through steam?
Destraex1 replied to Destraex1's topic in Combat Mission Red Thunder
True. But these days you find servers time out the session if you are too long or that the connection literally becomes saturated and drops because of the number of hops. It's all good it will probably work. What I need is WEGO based downloading -

Download failed at 50%. Looks like I will have to leave this one to chew up more bandwidth over night. -
Hey BFC, how about a soundmap? (yeah, I'm annoyed).

So you have never heard different sounds in game for weapons? -

So what you are saying is that mods cannot remap sounds to use a new file without the new file being used for all three guns? -

I do as well. Just to advertise to all my friends what games I play and how long. It usually sparks some interest and interesting conversation. 6hrs to go for me to finish downloading. -
Just curious if it has any performance impacts in game?

Download Managers - Any that work?
Destraex1 replied to Destraex1's topic in Combat Mission Red Thunder
My net is slow in general. I get 300k on steam and 20-250k in other things like i.e. I hear its the same in some parts of america. I do have a consistent ping though which means online games are fine. -
I am in Australia and this download is currently saying 8hrs and will probably disconnect where with something like steam it just resumes because of the download management software that program uses. Does anybody know of any download management software that will work with the download link for Red Thunder?

Defences Tab in interface key means what?
Destraex1 replied to Destraex1's topic in Combat Mission Red Thunder
So the last indicator column in the table is the rear and top armour? -
Still horrible user interface keeps on developing
Destraex1 replied to Warloch's topic in Combat Mission Red Thunder
So we have two kinds of people on average (a bit of tongue in cheek here (i) CMx1\2 vets who don't play much in the way of other games and love the interface as they don't know what they are missing (ii) People who have played many games and are used to windows and the way it works that expect standards to be adhered to where possible. Where I fit: (iii) People who run 1920x1200 and cannot see the briefing or gui icons properly. Now I am wondering who plays real time and who plays WEGO as I found this had a HUGE impact on my hatred of the interface. WEGO gives me the time I need to deal with it. -

The red thunder manual does not say top armour. -
Reading the new manual and see that you have values from left to right for the front left and right and rear. However above these icons is some sort of key that has five values and does not match the columns exactly. What exactly do the symbols mean btw: Red cross = no protection against anything in that class? Green means proof against all projectiles in the game? Why 4 values and 5 values on top line? IS this value a representation of the armours current state or its starting state?

I should say that combat mission is far superior. But there are not many cold war games like this out there that look so pretty and have such variety.

I own it and played my first red dragon BETA game tonight.

Who loves the panther and the sound of a maybach?
Destraex1 replied to Destraex1's topic in Combat Mission Red Thunder
Vark that last clip would have been really good if the quality was not so low. Panther is a very nice tank. Panther is my favourite looking tank of ww2. The tiger for performance at the time it appeared. It is a shame the panther was such a basketcase when first introduced. When I say ashame I naturally do not mean that in a way that means the germans should have won -

This KV2 seems a little too fast though. Not a real KV2... perhaps a late war mongrel is2 with a kv2 turret? -
The problem here is more one of the game NOT having good fog of war. Things that have not been seen by you since they got knocked over should look no different! So being able to see tank tracks and knocked over fences even when you have no eyes on to detect the change is what is gamey. Freeze framing and replaying things over and over to get a bead on direction of incoming fire is one of the negative impacts of WEGO. Soldiers that are suppressed are not going to be looking at holes in tanks to determine directions.
