  1. Panzerliga Match Match 1 I am Axis Terif is Allied In a typical fashion, my Axis strike out on Poland-Benelux-Denmark-France... Easy takedown! Then right away North Africa and Egypt are liberated within 6 months. Diplomatically Romania and Hungary join the Axis and an instant DOW on Vichy & Spain. By 1941 Axis are picking up momentum, but Allies control the Seas and have Norway so they're slowly building up to make their own Move... Allies Bomb Hamburg, and British Commandos Seize the Port to empty the Entire Royal Navy into the Baltic... This action is taken on behalf of Joseph Stalin to protect him from Operational Barbarossa. As all Minors are slowly DOWed, Yugo-Swiss-Port-Syria-Iraq-Iran... The World is Split up and we assume the rest of Europe would soon join up the Cause! Russian troops are transfered to Iraq to protect the Puppet British Regime there but no to avail, and we except they shall be running hightail out soon! Though who knows the determination of The Reds. In the Ukraine, the Axis are slowly grinding through and as the rest of European Russia falls slowly under the Iron Cross! Germans have IW-AT and the Russians do not, but the Allies now control the Seas and are playing the Fringes of the map to control the Income, we shall see how this one turns out! Will take innovative manuevers on both sides to bring at least a swift end.
  2. Stalinist's, they're several reasons... 1. European Resources outside of Russia, Scandanavia and Romania weren't that high. 2. Their production would've been doubly abysmal without all of Europe which was so easily handed to them. 3. Germans believe in Superior quality over quantity, in a lot of situations their units were 4 to 1 superiority in Quality. 4. In the end their was a shortage of German men to operate this equipment... Worse than the shortage of Equipment, much like Japan a lack of able trained manpower. Poor training techniques.
  3. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/German_aircraft_production_during_WW2 During the War the Germans produced of 94,000 aircraft, fairly staggering considering their shortages and every scrapped plan due to their favoritism and awful political climate for really mass producing the right weapons. Many great Axis Aircraft would never see combat... not that they never had able prototypes or even a small amount of functional ones. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/German_armored_fighting_vehicle_production_during_World_War_II and nearly 50,000 tanks produced... They were an industrious little power, I think Manpower more than anything would have harmed them and the fact they were constantly fighting the Russians... It may not have been men and materials they were short on but perhaps more oil, experienced men and time to put it all to practical use.. I do think a majority of what the Germans built were fielded, but I'm not sure of all the figures drawn up on the American equipment, what portion of it was ever used or permanently shelved. As we all know #s really don't count when they rust! Had those 300,000 American Aircraft had seen combat perhaps WW2 would have been more a Turkey Shoot... not that it wasn't after 1944......the only thing the Axis had was Tanks from then on and foul weather
  4. The Axis had a chance to win. They weren't at war with America and wisely should have never been. U-Boats were deadly in WW2 pre-1943 Though ultimately since they help to bring the USA into WW2 they were deadly against Germany not a winner, like WW1... Plus the Alliance with Japan was really no use it wasn't actually coordinated as the Big Three The USA was such a producer because a HUGE Agricultural Base, the Best of European Stock, Massive Industry, all that and isolation from constant European Conflict gave her a perfect window to build and be powerful... USA was a great oil producer at one time... Plus nearly the size of the European Industrialized World. Which what else was there back then? Japan-China, some Asian Oil and Rubber... USSR is mostly Siberian Steppe, Deserts, Artic areas
  5. Konigs, I'm certian many of those items never saw combat, and though some of them may have been lower quality than the Axis...at least German... didn't much matter Some staggering #s they're mind boggling to look at, imagine if the USA had geared up in 1939 to stop The Axis... WW2 would of ended much sooner Though Russian Manpower is something we were unwilling to sacrifice as American Manpower and unlikely to find a front suitable for such a large army.
  6. Don't let HellRaiser fool you, if taking Paris was part of The Axis plan and went against the Allied longterm plan then the game is going well for him. An aggressive Axis will now have a great boost to his iniative, but he is right in that the game is not lost or effected so greatly... the Allies can now wait to see if the Axis Blunder. You must guard your tiles and sacrifice your units as France, I have lost it early enough times against a determined foe... Allies have so many options though and Axis some less
  7. keep us posted both of you, I want indepth reports please Sounds like a perfect Axis Opener, see how quickly France capitulates
  8. 1942: I load up the end results of Terif's last turn, he crushes through France, I had a chance with him there if I hadn't come out of my trenches and run for the closest Mountains to regroup and attack in Strength. The East was a complete Nightmare no goals achieved... The MiddleEast sucking too many Axis resources for too little gain and too much of a stalemate... Terif bid his time and attacked once I split up my forces and was foolish enough to try him!
  9. This may be difficult to model into Strategic Command, as the supply system would have to be uprooted. However, it would be far more realistic. Though one begs to ask is the system itself flawed? In regions and in ways, it is. Supply is either too great or too small, but it is an abstract quality in the game. Roads and Rails would have been extremely difficult to construct in various portions of Europe, especially in Scandanavia, parts of Russia, North Africa, MiddleEast any real high mountains. Construction would've taken years... I prefer an existing system in which our Engineers or MPPs can be utilized to improve whats there as really in WW2, what new roads were constructed? None that I'm aware that didn't currently exist.....or that were utilized, as the new highly mobile units were often all terrain... P.S. Many bridges were created, some in Asia, some in Western Europe, makeshift...Even Normandy had a Road to it FROM ENGLAND! The USSR was rumoured to have built roads to invade Germany and so on, but I'd prefer that Engineer units give bonuses to existing units crossing Rivers or Rough Terrain... Abstractly representing the enhancement of their equipment, knowhow, etc... That itself would do it for me, perhaps even Offer a Supply increase to the HQ and it's subordinates
  10. Yes those Convoys are something I Learned from someone on here... Adjusting them when U-boat raiding for the USA or USSR can be very nice! Sort of reflects the historical, Churchill stopped sending USSR convoys after some dreadful U-boat raids along the Artic supply routes! Big defect with SC however is the inability for Big Ships to interfere in this area, when historically they did so with great effectiveness... I think it would be neat at least Production is a pain in the rear... As Germany I can almost never afford it. Although it would be especially nice she has to build a lot of Units between '40-'42 to compete... England the same! However the US or USSR can usually invest into it as they have more MPPs to spare and could reap the greatest reward, as they're longhaul players USUALLY...though some strategies with the USSR are implemented much too early to see it really a benefit and plus who can live without the combat techs, England has a Navy to protect, Russia has an Army... Period
  11. ( "I feel like the Matrix "Mr. Anderson, do you hear that? That is the sound of inevitability!" Hidden in his bunker the Chancellor of the once Mighty Reich overviews the Devastation of the most recent Allied Offensives... Massive Allied Air & Land Forces have been used on Three Fronts primarily to squeeze the Axis like a Grape... This is highly effective as the Russians have kept Massive Armored Formations in Reserve, Zhukov has his Mighty JumpBoys upgraded and capable of Seizing Egypt. Not only the British Army and Airforce has built up since their early expenditures beyond any Axis realization. We attempt to counterattack and retreat, in the North with Russia the situation is temporarily patched, in Egypt Suicidal German Units buy time... as for France, an all out retreat and Paris will fall on the following turn. This is the beginning of the end, no force ratio the Axis possess now can turn the tide they're outnumbered 3 to 1... we strive on, to the LAST MAN!
  12. In that particular game Russians were crushed my superior #s. A very good Axis strategist can overwhelm the Russians early, especially if the Russians are not properly prepared and attempt to overly invest in IT or Production and not in staples like IW, AT and plenty of corps for defense... Convoys are not much more than sucking Uncle Sam, holding the valuable resource areas of USSR are pretty vital or at least keeping them contested.....in the end if USSR is about sacrificed and Allies kick in with those amazing #s and take over you've got a pretty realistic scenario IMO IT for USA is very fun, and it does a lot for her since she is isolated. She can really pump a lot of equipment
  13. There are a few players that really show determination to make France a battleground. I usually enjoy them as they're some of the most bloody. Terif is right Axis played well, will repulse most D-Days until the right date. Though the USSR comes near the Brink and the timing shifts to the Allies to open up that second front before it's too late.. I just had a game with him where I could not get a Second Front before he polished off the East in '43 and playing a game with him now on different sides where in early '42 he captured Brest and unloaded all the Allied Armies. Very Fun to have a historical battle but a little early and I'm unprepared, as I had my units sparse and thinned over the map with my Axis missing some valuable units to garrison France and protect from a grave threat... Recon is also very important for the Axis....... hindsight is 20/20, though historically I do not think there was a better place to unload so many troops, Northern France was Ideal and in the game it's neat to see a similar history with our own twists unfold! This is all about your overall stature and gameplay though. I still believe that France can if in the right hands be very very hard to take.. Many Allied players would prefer a softer target at first then maybe come back to it... As players "overdefend France." depending on the "overall strength" of one side. In '44 the USA can be a major threat with the UK nearly unstoppable
  14. SeaMonkey the one in Sweden was probably originally designed around the old basis of SC1 where Copenhagen Port gave supply to Scandanavia. Something to do with game balance Really doesn't matter much for SC2, there are circumstances but rarely... Gibraltar I think was designed with similar charateristics and I also feel that the designer team was seeing that it may have possessed more value than it does, but it is just a very tiny value that connects and can be useful for reinforcement, "mostly" There are some other interesting possibilities I'd prefer looking into like Supplying Leningrad over Lake Lagoda.. special rule making that a more even deadly fortress as it's quite easy to neutralize if you can surround it
  15. Mirror 1: Axis - Liam Terif - Allies 1939 typical opener, fall Danes-Benelux-Poland Following aggressive French defense where I lost some valuable strength points off expensive units! Seems their leadership was remodeled and DeGaulle lead the Armored Calvary Suicide Charge into enemy lines to fight bravely and destroy as many Axis as possible! Still the French fell and then onward to Sweden-North Africa. The British posed a great threat along the Western Coastlines, halting up in pockets there forcing the Axis timetable, and stripping Egypt to do this... But it didn't matter, the Luftwaffe needed the experience.... and in Norway by Winter of '40 all was quiet on the Western Front... As the mud dried in '41 Spain was assualted and taken with haste, as were several other Minors... Leaving only Greece, Iraq, Ireland and Iran Neutral... USA being pre-emptively DOWed caused the USSR to enter the War!!!! Along with this the USSR entered the MiddleEast to save it from German domination, a mis-sight on my behalf... Though with a Italian Bomber hammering Iraqi Supply nothing would come through to the Western Desert until '42 Now where things get interesting: With Barbarossa kinda of dull and boring on the Eastern Front, the Western Allies want to prove just how potent they are, they send a cool Million troops to invade Normandy, capture it and breakout... Threatening to retake Spain-Portugal-Switzerland-Vichy, Benelux onward to Berlin... Axis strike back, with no Tigers but with a lot of Corps & Armies killing these Western Hordes, but foolishly leaving our trenches too soon, not obeying the good ole WW1 saga... Now we're open to the Allied Blitzkrieg, as the West is not contested in the Air it is completely dominated by the Allies!!! And there many aircraft... Half a Dozen units have died on each side so far in France and less on the Eastern Front where Stalin tediously stares German invaders in the Face unsure if a Treaty may be achieved! Germans retreat from TransJordan-Syria to Egypt where the Russian Airforce sinks Italian Fleets guarding the straits... Apparently Stalin dislikes Il Duce a Great deal... In the North, German Have frontline positions down the Eastern Front, attempting to take Leningrad, to no avail... just a bloody back and forth action, though it looks as if those defenders are now starving and will soon give up, perhaps in a few more months ! As for the rest the Russians stand poised to breakout but WHERE? God Forbid, dreadful As for the War at sea, this is most Interesting, after Trondheim was liberated, Allies decided to level it so it could never be used to build valuable Tanks, and this works! The British Navy Blockades the Port for all eternity(Ahistorical I thought the Germans won that battle!) However the Axis manage to get a few punches in on the Allied fleet, sinking couple Battleships and Cruisers...
  16. Retributar, Indeed I have put back many invasions and usually a Mainland Invasion in France only works in the current version when the Axis are already spent and defeated in the East. Other than that D-Day is more of a distraction and not practical strategy for the Allies. They're better off picking off targets that they can prevent Axis from Operating into and pushing them out, i.e. North Africa, Scandanavia or the defensible regions in Spain... Even an Invasion of the Boot is possible as it's narrow but I have only lost 1 game by accident with a person who employed that strategy. It's abstractly seen as a D-Day to see men show up in Norway and Sweden now... and bomb Germany from there and maybe even enter into the Nation directly! To have the sufficient forces to take on Germany on Land, you either had to use the Russians very wisely or have a very superb West Strategy combined with Bombers, Experienced Fighters and good Land troops both Brit/US waiting long enough to get the right techs so they do not have to really face the Germans... In the face of the Fortification Strategy and a foe who employes it perfectly France is completely impossible without Heavy Bombers P.S. It might be nice to give the Allies more Bombers at a later date in the build, that way they could level Fortresses easier. Though they will likely employ in a more gamey fashion than Hammering French Fortifications, it's not as if France is worth that much sort of like Kingdom of Heaven, "France is Nothing, it's Everything"
  17. pretty sure if u don't use it no stress it's more or less deleted permanently
  18. I contacted tech support worked fine, they gave me a code because I explained the situation... You can go into your Control Panel on 1 of the machines you wish to remove it, goto ELicense and Remove the Licensing so you only have it 1 machine... Good luck Rambo
  19. Killing these men would be extremely difficult. No major general aside from Yamamoto died in WW2 from enemy contact as far as I know, the men themselves are nothing. the HQ Rating is everything, it is the bonus your troops ride on... Improved ability to provide Supply and increased combat efficiency
  20. It's hard to really put together a Strong D-Day, I noticed Colin mentioned that. Without a good Supply source that is defensible you'll often get hammered right back into the Sea by the Germans... That's where a lot of Fighters with experience can rule supreme over a lot of Bombers... I have troubles with my D-day, North African Campaigns and finding good spots to do Raids. I'm overly cautious... So I liked this game it showed flexability on both Commanders parts despite Pitfalls and errors to stay in the game till the bitter end... HellRaiser is a Hell of an opponent if he's not bored Beware Colin and good luck
  21. I do not think that is true, I think the sentiment was probably anti-German... French and Belgians imposed strict penalties upon post WW1 Germany that probably aided the morale of their WW2 armies. Papa Saying, "Son the British and Americans may have left Germany a mangled Power, but those Frenchies really tore us a part! Jealousy I tell you!" The Atrocities committed by Germans, in Occuppied territories was not all true... WW1 Propaganda, I'm certian influenced the WW2 image of the Germans. Which was no different than other determined, willed Nationalistic Power... The French probably have it, but also had a huge bout of bad luck. French Military Doctrine was Old School. Their good leader, was shunned. They were still broke from the Great Depression and were not at all prepared for Armored Spearheads or tactical bombing! In a few years they'd of fought as well as any other army... as well as the Russians did who in the first few weeks gave the Germans more surrendered and equipment than France even possessed. Just the Reds had more Territory to Give meanwhile the French had a Capitol in the German Eagle's Talon
  22. The French weren't all that bad. Their leadership was awful, their manpower wasn't the best and their airplanes and tanks were equal but not organized properly... They fought bravely considering they sunk their income into the Maginot line and the old tactics of WW1. However in SC2, the real depth of Mobility 1 cannot be felt with Blitzkrieg. There is only a bit better HQ ratings, 3 air, 2 tanks for Germany representing everything... In real truth the slugmatch that France usually is has nothing to do with mobility and more to do with just brute strength... I think the French felt sort of abandoned by the English, and the BEF really doesn't do anything in game terms on the Continent.. I'm not saying delay the take down timewise but making it more a bloody war instead of other Theatres like Egypt-Brest-Norway-Scandanavia might be an option. Everyone uses those and the British to suck resources out when they were really sideshows... As those suck up a whole year when the Allies and Axis could contend right there... You are Grand Designer of the Armed forces, no saying you couldn't reorganize things, otherwise game should be over every time in 1943 when Germans run out of steam on the Eastern Front
  23. I have a slight feeling unlike SC1, people do not even consider the early game for SC2. It is a given no matter what, "France will Fall..." On top of this there is little to change the historical outcome aside from delaying the Germans, the British do not attempt to interfere and the Axis usually have just two variations, slow and fast takedown.. it could prove interesting to make the taking of France a bit more tedious......and focus less on making other objectives tough......more realistic anyway. I know historically the Germans lost a lot achieving this goal
  24. Situational Report: Axis Crush the Russians, 31 Total Axis unit casualties, over 100 Allied. Western Allies could keep Naval Domination but the Subs are too numerous and have completely cut off the Atlantic Supplies. Along with this, No further Allied offensives possible, Dozens of German Units transfer from the Eastern Front! To Summize, Bomber Strategy a Failure, Axis needed more direct pressure on their frontiers far earlier to alleviate USSR. Also very Brilliant Manuever into Turkey by the Axis, nearly a Coup De Ta...(SP?) not even a real invasion... Linking the Caucasus-MidEast-North Africa and giving the Axis a direct line to the richest portions of the USSR.. Russians would've lost the equivelant of 10-15 Million field Soldiers... They mantained as best they could, they built well but needed more room to retreat! With more time USA strategy could've knocked out 20% of German production or more. Terif's aggressive strategy bypassed my Western Strategy and Crushed head on my Russians. Germans took heavy casualties but had no real land opposition and could afford them... Decent Game, next will be entertaining for him
  25. Axis are closing in the Russian Last Stand, despite the Heavy Casualties, the Axis morale is unwavering. It was rumoured 1 million casualties against Fortress Urals would have dissuaded the Axis Commanders to commit their men, this is not the case... Only an Army Group of Russians remain fighting to the bitter end in hand to hand fighting! Soon to the Streets as well! In the West, a Premature Allied Landing in Denmark and Poland will likely be crushed, Allied High Command had heard rumours that Warsaw was undefended and this was not the case when an entire Airborne Army of Americans dropped, this will mean their immediate surrender. The American Army attempted to free them up by destroying Tirpitz in Konigsburg Port, but did not succeed... Even still Denmark is Liberated, and an Armada of Axis Subs float in the North Atlantic, Iron Sharks... The Allies continue their Bomber attacks on German cities but despite hundreds of thousands dead and even more homeless the Axis relocate their citizens to the far stretches of their Empire without losing Their War Aims, Total Victory! Game will be over before '44
