  1. Alright, Great Game. One fault, is that I didn't have build limits on but regardless, didn't matter until around 1945 or so... After that the game became a little warped but regardless had all the elements of a Great Game... Truth be told Rambo fought Valiantly and his best but he couldn't contend against the Axis SuperWeapons. Time and time again, Panthers, Tigers and King Tigers came to the rescue of the Axis Powers. With a lot of Production managed to outproduce and finally when when the Allies mobilized managed to crush the Allies with their Massive Weapons... On top of it, Axis Fighters were unstoppable and 3 Axis Bombers bombarded the Allies on every front... With Long Range this gave us the Edge we needed to win, the Allies were limited to France and that cost them the game... Narrow Battlefields... In the East, Russian Rockets nearly dictated every Axis move, and it was nearly impossible to stop them, they were in many fortified positions and they had the maximum experience and tech! Still Axis flung around the Caucasus via Turkey and took Stalingrad up the Narrow straight and used Air Power to push back the Russians Rocket Power! Who also had level5 tanks, just not enough of them to stop me... I see here the Allies lost their Royal Navy early that cost them heavy. Axis got level4 tanks in 1941!!! Germans also managed on several occassions due to the Naval situation to dominate the Seas and in the end Summer of '45 outproduced the Allies... Russians did the best, though the West caught up and nearly took France and broke out!!! Even after so many early losses... Russia had enough firepower alone, but not enough land units to take out much of Germany but no Western Pressure to allow her the moment of Glory she sought! Fought to the bitter bloody end, upwards of 75 dead Ruskies units! [ May 26, 2007, 12:59 AM: Message edited by: Liam ]
  2. 1 question I think we're all wondering, are the extra units and modifications going to be available beyond the Tactical Scenarios??? Or will they be hardwired like a Strategic Command 2 Tactical Assualt release?
  3. HR I hear you're in the Final. Going to be possibly crowned King! Good going m8 you up late these nights as far as luck I have played on-line poker for 3 years. Some real life poker. Just one incident against a guy I know, watch what happened. Pocket 88 vs KK 20% chance to win, I win! He Buys back in, same hand again!!! Pocket 88 about 50 hands later... he has KK, I won 20% chance!!! Not only that, I flop a Straight Flush to the 8! The likelyhood of that is about 1 in what, 500,000! Then, to top it all off, this dude comes back to win the grand prize with about 1/7th my stack of chips!!! Guess I should've not let him Re-buy
  4. To follow up into 1941 The Axis threatened England after the Destruction of the Axis Navy as the entire Royal Navy moved into place to destroy the Kriegsmarine and was locked in the Baltic, but with the RAF so close to Copenhagen, the Axis cannot risk the redeployment of the RN and the unknown strength of the RAF & British Army. Also instead of the Germans taking Sweden the British got their first now since they have Naval Domination. USSR saw the opportunity and joined and invaded Finland and occuppied Stockholm, this was in a pact between Stalin and Churchill, the trade off of Sweden and Finland for the Russians. The Germans are powerless to save their Northern allies, but move into position to attack Syria and take it, along with Iraq. The USA still doesn't join because of the Diplomatic hit by the Allied DOW on a Neutral PeaceLoving Sweden but were quite angry over Syria! Iraq joins the Axis... Typically Terif has dictated the Speed of this game. the Axis get to invade the USSR, but Hungary did not Join as I did not DOW the USSR... SO Romania and Bulgaria are just now collecting up fully on MPPs... He has so far won the war of manuevers and obviously I will have to re-examine my strategy to get the upperhand as Axis vs Terif. We'll see if we can take the iniative now vs the dreadful Russians & British as Winter closes and the USA will now join. It is difficult to dictate to the Master the playing field. Which is half the battle in Strategic Command 2 I am finding. I am only reacting as this point so early, and that shows Terif's Brilliance his ability to forecast, dictate and then take the iniative away from you. Fun though this is the only player that can do this to me with such ease
  5. Dave and Minty, both of you. It's true the collection of something from an Organization of Hardcore Murderers seems frightening. However, to me anyway, in this day age, not shocking. As the Black Men I use to work on the bus with would collect automatic weapons and bragg about it, and how he would listen to his hardcore music telling him that Bin Laden was a righteous Brother and that his own people should follow suite... Collecting these Free Speech records? I hate to say it but most people who look at these young Neo-Nazi punks do not realize something, what they've endured. Some are spoilt little rotten Suburban kids, and others have been put through "The Rotten System," we've created, not cleaned and come out hating just as those Nazis did so many years ago. Yes I'm 30, so I may not understand everything. Though Right now as we speak, in a school in Iran Mickey Mouse is saying, "Burn the Infidel Americans," And then he's hugging and kissing the kiddies! Well, that isn't memorabilia..or some sick closet Nazi. I'd rather a Guy wears his Swatika on his chest, where I come from, 50% black... 5% Hispanic... They have no shame in wearing their Gang Colours on their head and calling you names! Well, something needs to be done about all this! It's all plain wrong, the whole rotten thing, and I don't believe the Upperclass Care... I point you both to a Movie and I suggest that you might sample it, "V for Vendetta," I though it quite refreshing on the System and it's Corrupt Ways... My Friends we live in a Corrupt society.. Certianly there are good people in it, if only they were educated righteously and lead properly. We need the right elements "Today" One of my Morale Speeches, a bit twisted and bit dark but reflective of someone who has sat down in the trenches of both the Germans, the Africans, the Jews, the Poor white Trash, the Rich... I believe we all live many lives and we try every route.. And to say all this being a female could be worse than all of the above! That is a hard life
  6. Minty, why do Idolize figurines of crucified Wise Men? Why do we make Candle Wax Men in the Face of Napoleon and Temujin to visit in the Museum? Nappy killed millions, Tem so Scorthed the Earth in places it is unworkable to THIS DAY! Why do we record word for word History, to remeber it and not to repeat it! and we're human, recounting a statement by comedian George Carlin, "Humans will perform intercourse with the dead, not even Rats will do that!"
  7. Started a typical Fall Weiss 1939 Scenario: I tried Axis vs the Terif-ic Allied Giant. Crushed France early, well planned out, relatively... Poland-Benelux-Denmark, like usual within first few turns... Allies took Norway like Normal. Moving onward, I captured Vichy and Spain as the British had placed Diplo chits on Spain forcing me to either buy Franco out or kill him... So I proceeded to take Vichy in order to find a pathway to invade. Spain, Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco fell in short order... and then Egypt, after this Axis forces planned an invasion of Sweden 1941: Amphibious Assualt Craft prepare to embark for Sweden, the Axis figured they'd get White Flags like usual and just camp their for the Summer in the local brothels. However the British had another plan, concealed in Norway was the RAF, which struck out on Copenhagen Port destroying it's defeneses and allowing access for the Royal navy. Amphibious Landing Craft were attacked by Crack Elite Swordfish in Port some of them, barely having time to put on their undershorts! Despite this setback, and the loss of over 100,000 German soldats at the Bottom of the Baltic Sea, a Great Mourning, greater than all the deaths up until this point in the War... Orders went out by the Chancellor himself to Sink this abomination. UK Carrier Fleets were all directly attacked and sunk!!! Retaliatory strikes on the UK Surface Navy were not quite as successful but regardless performed. This is the quietest opening I've ever seen from Terif, I have to be a bit cautious as to what to expect next. God Knows what weapons he has up that sleeve of his! See if I can send him a few myself  Mid 1941---------
  8. targul, you can place your own limitations on these nations, HouseRules. competitive play will never that many as advanced players look for more and more exploits... Good Luck and I hope your not put off, I have pushed for more historical accuracy with this point myself...
  9. Arado, Definitely, there was caps on the distance on non-tactical Rockets. Even V-1s and V-2 Rockets were highly inaccurate at range. They were Infantry Support weapons... Though they were very deadly as you mention when used right! However for limitations on distance, I have an instance that contradicts their mere support role, as infantry themselves along with tanks are all in support of one another, not alone! I recall watching a show with Rommel where he often baited Tanks, frontline Battle Tanks to come at him... Then he'd deploy his 88s to destroy them. In this regard the Tanks would be way out in front, infantry in the rear as they're slower.....the 88s would also be out in front... and then dead tanks... On a Half track with infantry support even Artillery entrenched itself could be a weapon vs certian targets. Tactical Units, yes but nevertheless in the field they get around even on horses or pushes by manpower. Rockets, artillery, Naval Guns, AntiAir, all these units generally will be behind lines but not always, depending where... I don't myself believe that Level5 rockets should be delivering payloads 100 miles away either with much accuracy either. More of a Morale Effect or a terror weapon... Tactical DiveBombers were widely used in WW2. They may have decided the war. I paraphraze Stalin himself, "As important as Bread or Air to the Soviet Union," When bringing factory production figures of the IL2. As Destroyers the developers might find a place for these, as filler weapons... Commandos would have a place too. As as well as Coastal Batteries! There is artillery already in SC2, in the tactical scenarios and divebombers, the sprites anyways
  10. Historically I agree Sweden & Switzerland weren't prime targets for the Axis or the Allies. Would've been really really bad to invade either... dire consequences as for Vichy Algeria or Vichy France, both were Invaded. V.France was occuppied by Germany in 1942 and V.Algeria in 1942 by the Allies... One to protect German interests the other to help Operation Torch... Turkey-Switzerland-Sweden-Spain-Portugal-Ireland are the only neutrals on the map that were adjacent to another European Power not seized in WW2 that I know of... the MiddleEast was in Allied Hands. Spain might've joined the Axis, Hitler and Franco met for that, never worked out. Ireland should cost the UK the war, the USA has a close relationship with Ireland, like Isreal. Switzerland was very important Nation that had the Geneva Convention and Dreadful Mountains slops.. Not worth the Axis Pain of invasion I imagine or the political backfire, of course there is only a European Theatre Map, so worldwide disgust cannot be shared Sweden was fair game, she had 200,000 man army or so.. And she way up there, along with Switzerland she supplied the Axis with much needed war supplies so I don't think she was worth invading.. Portugal is a nonfactor, like Albania which was occuppied by Italy. Remeber before WW1 much of Europe was part of Empires......that was only disolved after the Great War, that Mentality, Glory, Nationalism still was strong in the Old Guard of Leadership... not so Ahistorical as you might think... They just are great for Cannonfodder, extra MPPs and there is no consequence in gameterms
  11. Hmmm, I'd love for all of us to play at once? 5 player matches, then every extra unit would count, as Italy & the USA will be very boring without more Junk As far as the use of Artillery in WW2, abstractly an attached Artillery piece could be seen as a Mobile Unit, that moves into Combat and did in WW2, especially by the Germans... then withdrawls, Katuyshas were on the back of Trucks? They can also drive in and out... how many miles per abstract turn? More than 9 KM, probably any amount of miles, more with tech as the more mobile the artillery as time went on and tactics advanced! As far as putting them behind the Lines, great, they would've been as would HQs, airfleets of all kinds, etc... They'd move in when the fighting was on and move back out when the fighting was done with, but I do not see the simulation of 3 movements with 1 piece? An attachment to Land Units would suffice that acts before the land army attacks and carries on the back of it? Be Neat an idea but dunno if it'll be adopted ALSO!!! MORE IMPORTANTLY, not EVERY unit sits within range of Naval Guns, WHICH cannot transport on land or move even with 5 guys pushing it around on land! in 1 week that Naval gun will never come in range of certian land elements and SHOULD NEVER solely kill a land unit. EVER! In history did 1 land Division ever get destroyed on land by a Naval unit of any kind including the entire US Navy? NO! Also the same for air, Air power never destroyed an entire Land unit and it should be scripted out that it can ever do this. Down to Strength 1 but even ABSTRACTLY WW2 firepower would never achieve such glory not even on a Strategic Level... More important than Commandos, AntiTank, AntiAir, BTW: THE Germans had SUPERB AntiAir units, they were elite. Cost the US Bombers a lot, Allies figured after 1 raid losing 8 bombers 2 to collision 6 to AntiAir, after just a handful of missions Nadda Bombers. Is that abstract? Plus Corpses are pretty much Garrison, Commandos and everything else in SC2... There is no moderate unit, so we place 10-15 Axis minors in the West, Ahistorically instead of Axis Major Mini Units in the West, Historical The Axis Minors belong on the flanks at Stalingrad were they die [ May 21, 2007, 04:58 PM: Message edited by: Liam ]
  12. Yeah  Noone messes with my Aircraft, I love Fighters, not because I have to have the tech, but because they look cooler than everyone elses  Only thing is the USA Fighters sprite suck rearend! a P41 for level2 I want my P38s and P51Ds
  13. Rambo is good but not the greatest, as for Intuitive Players HR and Rambo are the best I've played. Iron Ranger is quite good as well. But I haven't had as much IP play as I'd like either. There are a lot good players in the community that do not play when I do. Terif is not a Intuitive, mouseclicker. He falls into the category of a Strategists, tactician. All his thoughts and movements are preplanned and he may invest heavily in areas of tech to achieve his aims, he does as the other players appear to do but he is much more methodical, in that he does it with the Least Amount of Chance involved! Though even he sometimes gets trapped, despite his experience. He sometime doesn't achieve his goals within an expected lifetime.. I've seen it and I've had it happen. I will release this from a game I'm having vs him right now. This is how our game went with us, with no luck involved. 39 fall weiss, myself Axis... 1 chit 2nd turn into IW, 2 Chits by 1940... 4 Chits by Fall of 1940... NO RETURN! 5 chits by the transition into 1941! Finally a hit!!! and then another, within several turns Finally This is about 5th maybe 6th time that's happened in 50-100 SC2 games. The delay was annoying, as I didn't hit IW3 until almost Summer of 1941 but I did hit it and did not end the game. Luckily he didn't hit it either, and I'm not fighting anyone but the British, so it doesn't matter... Top Secret but truthful, now had I not hit IW2 by 1942 I do not think I could continue but I haven't had that ever happen but maybe 1 or 2 Xs and I didn't know how to invest properly. Considering, IW2 is the least you must have to Keep going, you cannot really as Germany win the game with IW1 as far as I know! Unless of course you had level4 or 5 tanks and enough of them that or some great alternate strategy... Every time you make an advance in IW, if you add in an extra chit you'll get IW probably 95% of the time within a year, so you need to plan ahead in your techs, if any of you are leaving that up to chance you'll lose... Cash out in the end 200MPPs is worth not losing the game but a lot of players do not know this
  14. During the last years of WW1 the Machine Pistols were comming in their own, powerful weapons. Italy had actually created one in 1915... Many designs and many weapons exist Pre-War, though they never get manfactured or they never get backing financially. If you want to call this chance, you could. Though Infantry Weapons are from everything to tactics, all the way to Anti Personal Mines... it's a broad subject and there is no rocket science I promise you. Italy, Germany, USA, UK and USSR ALL had comparable weapondry throughout the 20th century. Some slightly better, some more rugged, some revolutionary... Not all used or mass produced! The Cost to Indorse this area of expertise is partially chance though even with an AK47 and a M16, which are comparable firearms and many may debate which is more powerful and with the right tactics which would prevail, in the end regardless, they are what they are... One is rugged and reliable, one is got a great bullet and jams... In Truth it is unlikely Italy could manufacture certian weapons grades due to her lack of Industrial Capacity in WW2, she just didn't have the time! Her Tanks would have never stood a chance beyond 1942! They were antipersonal tanks but in SC2 you can build Italian Armor with the same characteristics as German, Russian, French, British or American... Definitely some weapons are revolutionary and there is chance in that but may I ask if investing say 5 Xs 75 MPPs... over a year does not pay off in giving you an increase in your tactics, mines, antipersonal Machine Guns, Guns, Rocket Launchers, Mortars, machine guns... you're dead wrong. And for say Italy the same Investment gives them Superior technology to that of Germany!!! In what Decade? Definitely not in 1930-1940! The game needs some tweaking alright and these areas of investment are not rocket science but definitely closer to a sure thing than say Aircraft design. Which is a MUCH more expensive endeavor, sometimes it takes 5 to 10 years to get an Aircraft even off the drawing board. I'll imagine the ME262 was designed many many years before it every flew... Still even there, all sides have the capability to develop, not always upgrade every unit to that capability, Perhaps a cap on what certian nations can upgrade would reflect true history...??? Also a reflection, Soviet Infantry weapons were quite awesome, Germans were quite innovative... However equal in their own regard? Did you ever see the German assualt rifle of WW2 that's Muzzle slants backwards so the Soldat doesn't have to look and possibly get shot??? Of course I'm not sure a true Assault Rifle exists from WW2...

  16. Bob, I couldn't think of a better list. Life is a lot more about "Luck," than a game!!! All the factors that go into life make it so unpredictable one has to be Ultra-Careful, that's why our real life Military tacticians, strategists, politicans, etc... on and on and on... are so very careful, think everything out. I bet you on one decision, a Planner could spend months and have a whole team to make the decision we make in SC2 in about 2 mouseclicks. They try to take every life variable into account, they try to take every action and reaction into account. It is their job and their proffessionals. We're merely ArmChair Generals Abstractly simulating the real thing. It's not that close but with a few dice it's supposed to simulate what is reality... NOW THERE IS ONE flaw here, as I said before if Italy was fighting under Rommel in N.Africa, he'd give IW1 at least and AT1 at least to his Italians... If they hadn't researched it themselves! That is not that abstract, so it looks like with the new add-on some of these things will solved. Also Rocket Science and Infantry Weapons are not the Same. If you invest money in Assualt Rifles there is no breakthrough technology there. Any Major Nation has the capability to upgrade such a weapon without "Chance!" So in this was Taojah is right.. as far as predictably of many other items, such as whether or not X British Corp takes 20% casualties landing in Normandy due to flooding by the German High Command it is accurately simulated in abstract fashion by SC2. It's ultra-kewl and we just need to look at it the way it is.. We cannot expect a miracle though I do feel as Tao does about some items, they're not meant for chance but other things are definitely Historically "What if" and we do plan all the roles of Military Planner, tactican, strategist, Politican, etc... It's kewl, GrandPuppet Master of an entire Alliance... P.S. The Germans Sent Researchers to Tibet to attempt to find their Roots in the Aryan Race P.S.S. the Germans researched the location of the Holy Grail!!!! They definitely believed in more than luck and weird Stuff P.S.S.S. German U-Boats used the Stars-astrology- to Track Allied Convoys ROFL obviously not levelheaded individuals Hmmmm, they must've not been quite as good as us, "Common Sense might've worked better!"

  18. How long did you have the 2 chits in? What is the chance of success per turn? In General when I put 2 chits in IW, I get an advancement 95% of the time within 1 year... outta 100-200 games that is definitive, ask my opposition!

  20. In North Africa, many of the Italian Tanks that brokedown were actually taken used by the British! This would certianly reflect a lot upon research. I'm certian when the Advanced Bombers of the RAF were shot down over Europe, there tracking systems used to find their targets at night were extracted by the Germans and used to scramble the updated Tech. There are so many cases of this in WW2, you wouldn't believe....

  22. The K Man, it would be nice to have an option like this in the new Update to SC2. If you destroy an enemy level3 tank on your soil and say that you've only acquired Level1 Tanks you get a 35% increase by studying the destroyed armor laying about on your soil Likewise for some of the other techs, depending...Just an idea to balance out the luck factor to tech?

  24. Terif, I have watched this AAR intently. I have a few ideas here. Seems that the Allies have done superbly with the British and the US though a little more poorly with the USSR. 2 Major flaws to the Allied plan, throwing away their Navy in an encounter too far away from Friendly Air and Ports and Throwing away their Superior Russian Ground Forces in a do or die mission outside of Stalingrad. I think JG has more up to '42 experience then beyond, but I think a lot of us players do... We lose the focus after that... Without the Caucasus Mnts, without a Superior Fleet, and without another ace in JG's hole, what does he have to throw at the Axis? Superior naval power means you can counterblow any move he might perform. You're likely entrenched heavily in France and a little side conflict like Egypt will not be much more than Fly in your ointment, he would have to bring down 2 to 1 land units to throw off the Axis in any Theatre... Especially against such a tactician as yourself. At this point and time he just doesn't have that I'm guessing. What I wouldn't mind seeing if you actually swapped sides with JollyGuy at this point and how you yourself would then perform and what decisions you yourself would make to pull yourself out of the hole if it is actually workable.. I myself wouldn't surrender, but I doubt at this point you will make any mistakes with your Axis..given that, You've got the Map even if he has tech and #s... They aren't in the right place now and it'll take a great tactical manuever to outdo you... The Map is bit easier in the later years to Recon with Minor Units and such so what can he do? Of course you may only be able to answer this after the Battle since this is a ranked match!
