  1. Thank you for the timely patch! It's nice to see a company that doesn't rush things out and takes the time to do it right, that listens to its customers, and delivers the goods. You guys are everything that EA is not and I'm glad. The Combat Mission games are well worth the money.
  2. If you've disabled sound and it's still locking up (and other games are doing so as well), it's certainly not Combat Mission. If you think it's due to dbPowerAmp, and it still persists even after uninstalling the application, chances are that it's hosed your sound card drivers. Reinstalling may not be sufficient - I'd recommend going into device manager, removing the sound card therein (and uninstalling all drivers), shutting down, physically removing the sound card from the machine, and restarting the machine without the sound card. Then shut down, replace the sound card, start it up and install the drivers anew. BTW, what OS are you using? You could always try System Restore to a point when things were working fine. Just a couple ideas.
  3. On the upside, I only took up about 20 minutes to do it, and then I was out of everyone's way...
  4. Not sure if they work in CMBB - I realized that I had accidentally installed them to CMBB the first time, but I've since restored the files that were originally there. I can maybe give it a try and let you know, but Im not sure when I'll be able to. BTW, I also use your water mod for CMBO - a great improvement over the default textures! Thanks again.
  5. I think I noticed Tom Hanks as well - it's hard to tell when the face is on a model, but looking at the bmp it seems to be him - I think it was the file right before the Barry Pepper one?
  6. That's because the Panther has a bigger and longer ding dong, right?
  7. French fries (they'd be called "chips" in England), covered with cheese curd and gravy. an exquisite treat! I can feel the cholesterol clogging my arteries just thinking about them! I live in Buffalo, on the Canadian border - time to make a run sometime soon and get me some!
  8. Gordon, We'll miss your mods! Thanks again for all the work you've done. The Combat Mission games are great, and you've done so much to make them greater!
  9. Much appreciation for your quick response, Gordon! Thanks for making a great tool for modsluts like me! I'm off to get those winter textures installed, then...
  10. Please forgive me for what may be a n00b question, but if I apply the "whitewash" options, will the vehicles only be white on maps where there is snow? In other words, will they still look normal on summer maps, or do I have to switch back and forth in CMMOS each time? I'm new to the CM games and CMMOS, so I wanted to be sure. Thanks for any advice - and to Gordon and the gang for a great (and easy-to-use!) program and mods!
  11. Thanks again for the mod! I've sent an e-mail to you regarding some "pinking" between the road wheels (and inside the muzzle brake) of the StG IIIG (middle).
  12. It should! I placed my order on a Friday and had it the following Wednesday (I live in NY). Should only take another day (two at most) to Florida, so I imagine you'd have it in time for the weekend! I was impressed by the fast delivery of my order.

  14. I'm no armor grog (at least not compared to many folks on these forums), but it's my understanding that the Tiger actually had a lower ground pressure than some smaller vehicles - and isn't that what should determine chance of bogging?
  15. Looks really nice - those pictures convinced me to download it! I live in Buffalo, so I know snow real well - and those screens look like something I might see in these parts
  16. Thank you! Glad to see it's ready, and I appreciate the work you've put into it!
  17. Welcome! I just got into the Combat Mission games within the last month, myself. If you're ever looking for a PBEM, e-mail me! [ November 19, 2002, 03:40 PM: Message edited by: HeadHunter ]
  18. One of the things I really admire about BTS is that they don't rush things out the door just to get sales. The product ships when they feel it's ready, and the patches are done when they are done. It's such a refreshing change of pace from the business model of developers that work for companies like EA. Battlefield 1942, for instance, had a lot of potential, but they rushed it out the door in a sad shape - five nations, but only the Axis got correct weaponry, full of little bugs (and a surprising compatibility issue with SB Live cards!), etc. The first patch came out the same time as the product was released, and it didn't address the big issues such as client prediction. They said they held off on that because they wanted to "get it right the first time", which to me would have meant the initial release. Anyhow, the point of my rambling is that BTS does a pretty good job of getting it right the first time; barring that, they show a dedication to fixing it right the first time. I'm content to wait until it's ready. Let the other companies follow the path of "never enough time to do it right, but always enough time to do it over."... If only more companies could be like this!
  19. I agree that there's no reason to whine or gripe, but it isn't fair to automatically categorize CMBO as "gamey". Maybe CMBB is more realistic (and I wouldn't mind seeing the Western Front with CMBB graphics and gameplay), but CMBO is still a great game. It's not illegal to play and enjoy both, ya know
  20. I've been an infantry officer, and trust me, the command delay system isn't too unrealistic! Even a "simple" order can be time consuming if you want to make sure a soldier under pressure gets it done right the first time. I had to spend much longer than 15 seconds explaining to a Corporal and a PFC the proper way to guard a gate in the winter
  21. I haven't yet played a CMBB game since installing the pack (in fact, since getting the full version a week or two ago!) but I will surely let you know what I think when I do. I've been keeping busy with a PBEM game of CMBO, haven't had the opportunity to play CMBB yet! So many games, so little time! Does anyone know of anywhere that's hiring people to play games?
  22. You could extract the wav files from the CD. I don't know the best way to do it, when I accidentally installed a CMBO sound mod to my CMBB folder, I just ran the CMBB install to a different directory, and then copied the wav folder to my original CMBB. You could give that a try - if anyone knows which particular files are for tank sounds you could move just those. But I'd bet that copying the wav folder would do it.
  23. Glad to be of service, and I'm happy that you were able to solve the problem even if my recommendation didn't do the trick. Cheers, HeadHunter
  24. The tracks and drive sprockets, etc. would rust while the vehicle was not being used, but a very short period of operation would wear that away to bare metal anyhow. Sort of like how it happens on railroad tracks...
  25. Right click on the folder and select "Properties". If "read only" is checked, clear that box. It sounds like you've set the folder to read-only and therefore it will not overwrite the files.
